With all the cutbacks in manpower at the store level, this company is lucky to rank 4 instead of 2.......http://247wallst.com/special-report/2014/02/25/ten-retailers-with-the-worst-customer-service/
Why would Walgreens financial people wait until 100? Could you provide more insight on how they have come to this split point vs. prior historic splits.
From the mouth of Infinity's Hollander...
Thoughts on 'Less Is More'
Hollander also commented on Clear Channel's (CCU: news, chart, profile) "Less Is More" initiative, which seeks to increase the demand for radio ads by cutting the number of commercials that air during a given hour, and by reducing many ads to 30 seconds from 60 seconds.
For its part, Infinity has been systematically reducing ad inventory, but only at stations where such a measure seems warranted. "At our news-talk radio stations, we don't believe that the inventory needs to be reduced. Those are the spoken word formats. Some of those stations, like WINS in New York, which is one of the great margin radio stations in the United States, has run the same amount of inventory since 1988."
The company has cut commercials at 56 of its music stations over the last 14 months.
Still, in Hollander's view, the issue isn't necessarily reducing ad messages to 30 seconds, or trimming commercial minutes per hour. Quoting an industry survey by the ad rep firm Interep, he outlined his own philosophy on the matter.
"'Most agree that the bottom line is the ability of a spot to sell an advertiser's product.'" he said. "And that's really the most important point. It's about good creative, good rotation, frequency, [and being on the] right stations."
Now look at Siri: no commercials on music channels (he is trying to decrease these on regular broadcasts). Also Mel will find a way to add some commercials to talk shows and sports broadcasts; something hollander said does not have to be changed!!
Irrational exuberance as Hollander put it or just Sirius envy!!!
never going to cover. stock may go down a bit, but never enough for you to break even. why don't you double up at this level (ie short an equal amount at this level as you did at 5.)
I wish you luck, but I think this stock will never see below $6 again.
Thats alot of cash almost $400,000 on a stock trade. so whats your take on this stock. Did you buy all cash or use margin?
This wearable satellite walkman is a great idea, but will xm charge extra $$ for it over its regular monthly fee? (Or seperate subscription) Time will tell, but siri can trump them on this by offering a better wearable unit next year. Siri can improve on any xm misteps and come up with a better device to ware. Being first to market is ok, but remember its all about adoption of technology and our Ipod youth is great at jumping on new fads.
Just saw new commercial in which Ford is offering Sirius on its new Ranger truck line. The offer is for an Audiovox pnp unit in the truck, with a boombox unit for home use and 2 years of activation all at no charge to new truck owners!!! I live in the Milwaukee area. Anyone else seen this commercial??
Posted on xmsr news it shows a report comparing the growth insustry for both siri and xmsr by skywaves. looks like good reading but very expensive. Anyone have access to or a broker that has access to could you please share the highlights.
here's the news link:
note investor7592 is not investor7952 be careful, same imposter **investor7592** is on the cnxt borard. Investor7952 is the real person and is a great asset to any message board that he converses on. put investor7592 on ignore list.
Tx do you know if RFMD is starting to use SiGe
chips in any of their components as opposed to GaAs
chips. Will this new plant be used to ramp up current
GaAs or is SiGe going to be the major focus????
Got on board at $50 (april 30th). Who would think
that in 3 1/2 months that this baby would split again.
Got in based on a story that appeared in early spring
in smart money. Initially I was going to buy
Conextant (a spin off of Rockwell), call this my loyality
to Milwaukee (have a plant near downtown), but story
put RFMD in the lead. Boy were they right so far! Tx:
have been following your posts on this board and
profile and posts on clear station, what do you think of
JDSU- this is the merger of JDS-Fitel and Uniphase.
Looks like fiber optics are going to be the
telecommunications forte in the future and this company I think
(IMHO) has all the tools (that is both active and
passive based photonic equipment) to become the premier
company in this sector. (the next CISCO of fiber
optics???) Thanks Reiko
I am waiting for a little downward pressure on
stock for entry point. Put in an order at $88 based on
midpoint of 13 moving average and 50 day moving average
(data extrapolated form clear station TA graphs.) Any
feelings towards entry point? Also have been looking at
company called E-TEK Dynamics (ETEK). Looks like this
company is a competitor to JDSU on the passive fiber
optic components. Any info on the compare and contrast
of JDSU to ETEK would be welcome. Thanks in advance:
What select phone call are you talking about?? I
also believe that Walgreens will announce a split at
the stockholders meeting on Wednesday. 3:1 longshot,
but still possible, most likley 2:1. Either way we
all will win the longer we are on this stock. If the
board of directors allows a 3:1 split the stock will
rebound in a very big way, very fast. Stock will be cheep
entry level for all and will attract new investers who
look for cheeper issues, will also get rebound $$ from
profit takers who will reinvest $$ left over from
profits after 31 days (wash-sale rule). Enjoy the ride we
have noplace but up to go!!!
