I accept your numbers as close enough. Fast Eddie is a hedge fund manager and most of them end up like this. I shorted a couple of years age and covered to early made a lot but I shifted my short side bets to JCP which was just too delicious to pass up at 41. Now I am wondering why this sells for so much ? It looks like a negative BV in liquidation even the bond holders may have to take a serious hair cut , This guy has no clue about retail it is a financial scam gone wrong.

Really ? I thought Rosenblatt was fairly straight with a good background. Am I wrong ?

  • And they are featuring 'Short Bread " cookies. They are going to be burned pretty soon though. Time to buy before earnings announcement, With strong comps and 85 new stores opening it looks pretty powerful. I do smell the short bread beginning to smell. SQUEEZE is coming.

So funny ! I have not had such a good laugh since Mark Bozek's conference calls proclaiming his lower margins as a winning formula. Truthfully even though this post was tongue in cheek there is a "huge potential " for remarkable results and with proper leadership it could be "amazing ". Nice creative post. This kind of thinking is not as far off base as what it will take to fix the key issues imo. The machine is in place but the policies.programs, products, productivity need to be injected to provide key performance improvements that will finally bring a real profit growth paradigm to VVTV, Shop NBC, HQ, and now Evine. Probably the best we get is another low branding strategy of a meaningless name change.

  • I have worked for 3 different retailers with Florida Stores and the state always delivered revenues in the top dectile in results. In other words 2 stores in Florida can be worth between 2 and 3 in the North East or Upper Midwest as weather does not provide weather interruption of sales and rents are lower in many cases.

When attractive dips present themselves. Heading into the mid to high 40 to low 50 in the next 12 months or sooner. Going to explode on renewed earnings and revenue growth. Pay attention to new store growth strategy.

Trading at 12 -13 x future earnings with a PEG ratio of a very low .75. Undervalued and has announced big growth in new stores. I would like to see some insider buying though as it would confirm the tea leaves

could be but even if it takes a new quarterly earnings report we are not too far away. I believe that second positive dot on the trend line will ensure the move and the on to 50 as there will be several strong quarters if the economy continues to inch along. This is a company that is built to last. Strong customer base and very strong retail new store growth is planned. This will also pave the way to renewed very strong comp store growth as they come around the horn.I would like to see some insiders actually buy some shares here to verify their long term strategic thrust. I really do not mind the CEO sell off in the past but this should be an acquisition phase currently.

Looks great and it continues to message the Brand as a today fashion and lifestyle trend right retailer and manufacturer. Casual, fun and au current. Good job. The company is pretty cheap when you review growth quarter over quarter year over year at 27%. Nice buy opportunity when you compare to LULU , NKE, UA which are primarily athletic driven. As a result fashion is adaptive rather than innovative as Sketchers is.All good companies and OK stocks but this will be the winner in stock appreciation from here to year end imo.

Totally different. This is a very profitable enterprise. Zainy Brainy was fun but never made the kind of money that Five Below generates. I am sure all the officers are going to be much happier than the Kerrsdale crowd. In fact they already are but soon we will see unbridled enthusiasm. Hee hee I am very sure of it. Watch and learn. Very sure.

Ackmn now on VRX board and replacing the CEO

    by prospertex Mar 21, 2016 3:58 PM
retailexecutive retailexecutive Mar 21, 2016 4:25 PM Flag

Remember he hired Ron Johnson at JCP. Worst CEO hire in retail history burned off around 8 Billion in shareholder equity. I guess the turnaround is happening there now though. So knock out another * Billion or so and rebuild trust and VRX will be a nice buy at $5 if they can get some debt restructure. They have some nice brands that will bring a lot at an auction or some kind of new debt to equity restructure but the current shareholders are cooked. Ackman is being kicked in the mouth and the butt. This has got to hurt although with him those body parts are interchangeable. I am surprised that Tex still has an internet account.

You have it wrong again. Why the smear ? Losing too much here ? There seems to be some nervous twitching but that will be cleared up. You can not name another retail company that has expanded in as orderly fashion as this one. Making profits and expanding store counts, growing the organization, and building infrastructure for the future growth without debt. How do you think you dopes at Kerrsdale can deny the real facts ? By talking about a company that has no bearing on this one ? The facts are the profits and revenues are growing at a level that is not seen very often. And that will be made clear later today. That you can be sure . So you managed to manipulate the shares a bit and it is not the first time but it always surges forward again as the core of this company is healthy and growing. I want to see how you will react when the stock moves to the mid 40 area before year end and into the 50+ area next year. MTM Partners has pegged this stock correctly and you can only make oblique comments about a company that has not existed for over 20 years. Wow very astute.

LULU: A 8.5 billion market cap?

    by andreat564 Mar 20, 2016 7:58 PM

andreal , you act like you know nothing everywhere you post. Target is great but selection and quality lines up to GPS, WMT. JCP Lulu is speaking to a prettier customer from a marketing point of view. They have a better eye for quality and they are willing to pay more for the quality as the product gives years of wear not one season and done. The stores are a marketing machine which engages the customer who is involved in the active lifestyle and a lot of the styles are excellent for casual wear as well. My family spends a lot of money there but that is because we did not waste it shorting LULU and Five LOL. I have traded this stock at least 4 times and it is the best of class as a retail enterprise. That is all I invest in Best of Class. Come over and blast SKX I could use the lift .This stock is cheap.

He probably has not been to a store in sometime he is a short seller. It is done by misrepresenting the facts and hoping people buy in. It can work but the reversals cause loose bowels for him and his firm. They are getting beat by most boutique firms like a drum.

wrong locations for DG. Customer base is focused on the lower quartile of the economy. It is a fine company but their targeted customer is far different and the customers just do not have the discretionary income that is required. .If DG wants in they would have to buy Five as the risk of failure would be too great. They beat the street estimates the reaction is to the 29/20 plan and I would agree if that was all that they would produce it is too low and counter trend. I believe Anderson made a mistake in making a 5 year horizon call to analyst in this day and age. There really is no good reason for the numbers to not be north of these estimates and I believe they attempted to set the table for a series of beats. I think the attempt is a bit awkward though. Anderson has done a very good job during his first full year on all internal goals and strategic objectives but this is his first CEO reign over a public company and he will learn the art of communication to the street. In the mean time an excellent year and I would not drive a stake in their heart just yet. I believe the current quarter is off to a great start.Still no debt and over a 100% ROI in under 1 year for new stores. Comps are strong when considering their aggressive fill back strategy on new locations. The addition of California, Texas and Florida can develop enough locations to curb bad weather effects from the North East in the future. Population density is key along with better than average incomes this is missing at DG.

I am an investor in DLTR, DG as well. Fine companies. DLTR is the only player that perhaps could do something similar but their plate is full converting Family Dollar Stores into the fold. And that will not be so easy.

I respect some of your point of view but I do not see that as an reason not to stay for the long term. Even at the 20/29 plan the company doubles far before they open 2000 stores. Stock will appreciate from here over the term of the plan. If it is only 20/20.

Kind of a stupid comment go with NKE. I love the CEO at SKX but I don't know how they are doing.Trust me on this. They are doing fine. I own NKE and SKX. Why ? One is a dominant sports apparel company with a golf category which is just OK and SKX is a trend shoe company that is fashion forward and have several key items with nice technical benefits to the consumer. One is full priced ( NKE ) And the other is well below value on a PE/ Growth rate basis. Too cheap ok now Jim ? Goldman needs a NKE push eh ?

I have never seen a pump piece where a company went forward and became a success. Not one. And I have seen a lot of them. This company is not big enough to be public. The higher the revenues the bigger the losses. Be careful.
