My rate with TWC went from 168 to 210 in one month. The KF Hopper is really an empty cup , BR is the man for this job. They will not find another better who can actually take this on. QVC and HSN have no one , This still is a complex business that has a lot of moving parts. BR fits the bill and the board should close the deal.I will increase my stake on that news.BR is highly motivated as well as knowledgeable . He has a balance of operating and financial experience in this space as well as other retail background which is pertinent to the post here as well.

This is mostly BS and someone who believes one way can always find opposition. The real shoppers of Target are not boycotting. The Walmart shoppers may be . Walmart is achieving their goals our CEO is too busy to focus as he is staking out a political position. Who really cares what he thinks about non Target business anyway. I would like him to weigh in about out of stocks and fixing the assortments. Restrooms ? Follow the law and keep them fresh and clean.

No they are abnormal but still can be right. My post was not about politicizing anything. I do not care and I don't want my CEO blasting out positions that paint the corporation in any negative light. it is not necessary and it certainly is not wanted and the thinking was not based on the law or any objective weigh in that was well thought out. Follow the law, If the customers don't like it go to your Congress. In 20 years or so it will change based on their actions of dealing with something that directly has an effect on a virtual minority.

The retail beat down was over done. This stock has a PEG ratio of 0.78 a forward PE of under 12 . And a very high growth rate of around 3x the current PE. Should sell for around 45 . So a value and growth stock all in one.

Target has for many years taken a back seat to no company when it supports the communities that the stores do business in with a 5% donation of pre-tax profits. This has made a huge positive impact over the years and has been appreciated by the communities. Target has built a powerful Brand and Brand image over the years with the consistent execution of merchandising and marketing strategies. It pains me to no end to see the company to get involved into the public political ideology on any issue . The consumer does not require it and your mission statement does not directly support it either. Please remain focused on building Target to a level of where it is once again the best of class. This is achievable and should be where 100 % of the effort of an able management team is focused. Leave politics to the local level.

You have enough work to do in just tracking back to the Walmart growth metrics.

    Thanks for your consideration.
I am a former Target executive and it is very disheartening to see my former company involved in issues that are divisive to our customer base.

Best of luck but we both know luck is quality preparation and opportunity coming together,

Your position is well thought out and clearly articulated. I believe it was an error as well. I worked at Target as a store supervisor for many years and it was the darling of the industry then. It still is the best mass merchant in the world in my opinion but the standards and merchandising and poor strategy and lack of strategy have begun to damage the Brand a bit. The Brand is still a good one but the lack of attention to prudent decision making has been diluted since Bob Ulrich left the company. Target has been blessed with the right CEO at the correct time over the years with stalwarts like Pistner, Macke,Bruce, Hall , Ulrich. Steinhoffel was a talented merchant but a lousy CEO. Cornell has been heralded as the second coming. He has given the company stability but the merchandising has not developed at all. I am hopeful that the Nordstrom's exec will make a difference. Merchandising is the key to finding their growth again. Store operations has shifted from being the best in the industry to just trying to be a little better than competition. I must say some of the competition has improved their game.

I believe they are a Best of Class Retailer in many ways but their marketing has driven a strong spender group out of their stores, Lack of classic assortment in both Ladies and Men's wear has driven the consumers of this wanted product. Generally they are serving a customer base that has limited funds. Maybe nice for trend but the trendy are buying looks at lower price points . Low options for the classic RTW customer. The Rack may solve the price issue but I think this is a new trend and the entire merchandise strategy needs a strong audit against marketing targets. They have a staff that can execute an improved marketing target. Probably gets worse through the summer as I have been reviewing their stores. To be honest JCP is better tuned in to their customer base than JWN is to theirs. I do recognize they are not the same base but the marketing principles must be obeyed to be successful. Wrong timing, wrong assortments, Case in point is the shoe department. Once the keystone is now just in line with other department stores not better. The day of the "Merchant Prince "is dying all over the industry but has left the building here. While the concept of sabremetrics has long been used in retail decision making the management must be careful how the results are interpreted or they can end up driving the assortments down to the middle. The problem is that the middle consumer has more and better alternatives. Upper middle is the only profitable niche for them imho.

The shoe category is a bit tougher as an on-line transaction as return rate tends to be higher, In a store you know when you leave that the shoe fits properly. This company just set a record for revenue. Going up from here.

This is a value and growth stock at the same time. Makes it a great buy on these kind of dips. The free cash flow is over 80 million . The growth of earnings is over 30% and the PEG ratio is an extremely low 0.80. Couple this with an extremely low forward PE of around 12 X in a market that is selling at 17X and you have all the reasons you need to buy at this level. There is nothing at this point to stop the growth. Great advertising and marketing and wonderful international growth and that was with a strong dollar. Dollar appears to be slumping a bit and that will be even better for International sales.

What I like about the CS analyst is that he upgraded quickly when the price moved pass his/ her original target of 39. My favorite call was MKM Partners when they gave it a major buy call around 32 or 33, The street is starting to warm up to my baby here.

shorts are cooked for sure as t will probably be 45-50 by year end . No resistance until a bit at 49 but it should get through that. Forward PE is only 13. 25 x PE takes us past 50 in 2017. Still a table pounding buy in my opinion. There is not a quality retailer selling so cheap on both a fundamental and technical basis in the entire market. If anyone knows of one buy it and post it I would buy it as well.

Part 2. I believe under BR and several key executives there this is a solvable equation . Clear vision with a supporting strategy will provide an opportunity to win regardless of how well QVC and HSN execute. The secret sauce is while they are competitors the real competition is outside of the screen dominant players. The big 3 already operate on more screens than all other retail competition. The secret to a successful strategy in my opinion is anticipation and improved execution in marketing, merchandising and service. Simple in concept but many complexities to be mastered. The leverage potential they will get as a ROI is greater than the big 2 can get as it is already largely baked in to their performance. The accelerators are building even more success in their merchandising competency and through some improved communication of the core strategy to the customer base who are not shopping here and build those that are into an even stronger advocate. Can they do this ? I believe they can and that is why I believe this can be the best stock buy in the retail segment today.

  • The opportunity to enrichen myself has pushed me to begin studying the Direct Retail Market in a more detailed way to ensure that my investment thesis for EVLV is on target, Firstly, I believe that this company even though there is not much value on an intrinsic basis has a ton or more of extrinsic value particularly when comparing it to the screen giants HSN and QVC. Both of these companies are excellent performers no doubt, They are both operating at very close to their expected optimum operationally with Q taking their proven format global with some excellent success in Japan, Germany, England. Italy will someday be better as well. China should be strong with a cultural partner that can execute a hybrid model. HSN probably has missed that bus after some early failures at global expansion. Both provide dominant formats on the screen in this country though with Q still enjoying a 3 to 1 revenue advantage. Why so big ? Strong strategies and excellent detailed operational execution and perhaps the best service model and customer focus n the entire retail industry. They are loved by their customer base and the reasons are numerous. What does this have to do with EVLV ? Plenty . The company on almost any Key Performance Indicator ranks a distant 3 rd place. That is good as the grade really is not so steep for the company to build an incremental gain strategy to close performance gaps on both strategic and tactical operating strategies.

In BR they have an accomplished executive who knows this business model and the leverage potential against fixed cost that this company can deliver. I believe they will deliver for many years as it is a well known fact that the core Tele- Shopping customer cross shops. This is a proven marketing research based fact. The contest is on everyday and the battle for eyeballs is a very complex battle for eyeballs by the minute. The key issue is how does EVLV borrow more temporary share and over time deliver incremental growth and profit.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
