    Annual Shareholder Meeting

I rather doubt that there will be any revelations revealed at the Annual Shareholder Meeting. These meetings are tightly scripted to keep them moving and rarely do any questions of substance get introduced from the floor. I doubt if there are more than 50 shareholders from the outside attending. In fact probably around 20 would cover it.

Correct again. I am testing with a Chinese company now a product on short video , The product is distributed much like Twitter and the fee base is modest by comparison. The long term suggests strongly that rich fees per HH will erode. Perhaps if FB or Twitter would develop a user friendly interface / App the entire Electronic Direct Retail platform would experience a seismic shift not experienced since cables' inception,
In any case we are seeing some evidence of the turnaround plan that BR is driving may be gaining traction. A bit of luck would be a very positive return from the auction as the balance sheet issues would be largely solved and give the company a little more flexibility by reducing expensive debt.

I do get the feeling that the team recognizes the carriage fees are high but I also believe it is accepted that the only cure is increased volume against the fixed cost. If that is true the profits will improve over time but without a break through strategy for top line it will be a long time coming to really drive the kind of returns that other direct retailers yield.

Need a double digit sales gain with an improvement in carriage fees to really make this THE HOT investment stock . It will not be awarded it must be negotiated, In any case I believe we have a 5-6 trading range in the near to intermediate term future.

You are on the correct track with this . The Smart phone is already being used in a major way with short video in China with some very good sales results

  • The company continues to delight the investment community by building scale. Five will open a total of 80 new stores this fiscal year providing a continuation of one of the best retail growth ramp of new stores seen in sometime by any company. The intelligent mix of market fill backs and new market entries has been carefully engineered to ensure a strong ,cogent growth plan referred to by the 20/20 20 plan . Which is a guideline forecast given to the market for a 20% growth in revenues and profits through 2020. In the very first quarterly report since the guidance was given FIVE announced earnings growth of over 50% on the profit element of the forecast and handily beating the revenues as well. They have announced that they will enter the California market next year as well. All this being done without debt. Also by next year they will open a new revenue stream with e-commerce. This will support the Brand Strategy. The new merchandise strategy is now in place and gaining more traction and with a stronger US Dollar margins and values will feel some tailwind effect. No direct competition as they have a target customer who is financially able and under served . The best days for this company is in front of it still by reviewing all the vital signs. I would not be surprised to see this stock hit 100 a share in less than 5 years, The total number of stores long term is closer to 2800 than the 2000 company stated growth target. Excellent management team and a strong Board all support this long term growth vehicle.

  • has smart investors moving in and short interest will help us in the push up from here. The 52 target by Binder is a very solid call. Binder has been on this stock correctly for a long time, MKM named this their stock pick of the year and they have been courageous in staring down the short side interest.

I also believe we will see the potential for double digit gains and even high singles would do the trick. Stable margins, more NN growth.,lower costs , BR joining the team, some new merch talent on board, strength emerging in cosmetics and a favorable FCC Auction result and it could be fun here again.

Stock should be moving up. From my point of view not just because of this killer quarter but all the rest of them in front of them. Momentum has become the fly wheel for growth here. They have developed a consistent execution strategy and gently introduce new additions with plenty of lead time and then it hits with no big expectation and then we get another pop, Two big potential pops already in the pipeline include the e-commerce and the California openings. Close your eyes and see this company operating in California and developing a potent e-commerce strategy that features mobile. And you really do not think this is worth a lift over the 20/20/20 plan ? I do and have bought again today.

Excellent. I took an opening position today. Shorts will help us out. The covering will begin soon and by December they will all be hedged long or history.Big things are going to be happening. This will be a merger candidate very shortly in my opinion.

A few more thoughts on BR

    by mr_harry_lime May 26, 2016 3:01 PM
retailexecutive retailexecutive May 27, 2016 1:02 PM Flag

I agree with Harry and you Tarzan. I believe BR has accepted some accountability for the current situation. As a new Board Chairman he did take appropriate action if perhaps a bit late. KF was engaged to protect the Board and in view of the recent history I believe it was a good and appropriate decision. This an executive whi is a real leader in my opinion and believe that the company has a better chance than under the prior administration which I characterize as a lot of blow but no go and not an effective manager. The question that needs to be answered is can we see an effective renegotiation of carriage terms lowering the fixed cost. The grow out to bring fixed costs to a reasonable level is challenging to say the least.
A distribution of sales map would be a good starting point in building a new partnership with the MSO base. An additional 25-50 million cost reduction creates a whole new paradigm. A very profitable one . Then couple that with a double digit sales gain which I have always believed was available to the company by differentiating and elevating the taste level and building stronger value statements and then a much stronger focus on customer services, They lag the industry in all of these categories but I do see some improvements . Tough road but with an improved map and a permanent driver the journey could bring us to a favorable destination.

    Good start last quarter.

You have it correct in my opinion. Kerrsdale refuses to post their stupid thesis anymore on Seeking Alpha because they were ridiculed and exposed for their lack of clear analysis. Whole thesis was thet did not believe they would do any where near what they have since their first short bombs

BR's name is in the KF hopper for CEO!

My rate with TWC went from 168 to 210 in one month. The KF Hopper is really an empty cup , BR is the man for this job. They will not find another better who can actually take this on. QVC and HSN have no one , This still is a complex business that has a lot of moving parts. BR fits the bill and the board should close the deal.I will increase my stake on that news.BR is highly motivated as well as knowledgeable . He has a balance of operating and financial experience in this space as well as other retail background which is pertinent to the post here as well.

This is mostly BS and someone who believes one way can always find opposition. The real shoppers of Target are not boycotting. The Walmart shoppers may be . Walmart is achieving their goals our CEO is too busy to focus as he is staking out a political position. Who really cares what he thinks about non Target business anyway. I would like him to weigh in about out of stocks and fixing the assortments. Restrooms ? Follow the law and keep them fresh and clean.

No they are abnormal but still can be right. My post was not about politicizing anything. I do not care and I don't want my CEO blasting out positions that paint the corporation in any negative light. it is not necessary and it certainly is not wanted and the thinking was not based on the law or any objective weigh in that was well thought out. Follow the law, If the customers don't like it go to your Congress. In 20 years or so it will change based on their actions of dealing with something that directly has an effect on a virtual minority.

The retail beat down was over done. This stock has a PEG ratio of 0.78 a forward PE of under 12 . And a very high growth rate of around 3x the current PE. Should sell for around 45 . So a value and growth stock all in one.
