Some thoughts. RSH was never real competition. That was Circuit City and it failed largely because of bad economy and that could not support two identical retailer institutions at the same time. One would be weak and fail. Stronger economy and retail might have helped that. Retail numbers for 2015 do not look good though. JCP is closing stores. RSH was a low-end, smaller version of BBY with higher prices. Problem was that they carried realllllly small stuff that you could not find anywhere else but that was not enough to support a chain or indiv store. Whenever I bought at RSH it was because I HAD TO BUY there for one reason or another, but not of choice. Same thing for BBY. I never buy there for free choice but because I HAVE TO for the same reason. Time, need, etc. But never because the prices are good. They are not. Geek Squad is a joke though they can do the occasional good job.
No, not grumpy. Just realistic. Try reading the Endicott Alliance website sometime. Oh, those are grumpy people too?
Now for those of us with long memories, IBM should purchase INFOCOM.....
"Your are in a corporate office in Armonk NY. North is a hallway to an executive conference room. A hallway to the east leads to a restroom. A staircase leads down. Before you is an IBM Manual for the AS/400 and a lamp. .....go north .... You are in the chair-woman's office. It is dark. A Grue is waiting.....Kill Grue .... You cannot do that without approval of the Board."
Maybe you should read this note from someone just given the axe by your caring and considerate IBM....
Dividion - Confidential
PBC 2+ for last 5 years. All 1's for 2 decades prior.
Last day is 02/27/2015
I kept the division confidential here to protect the innocent. But we also see that IBM is eliminated OLD AGE WORKERS. OH, that is caring too, isn't it???
HAHAHAHA You give IBM management credit for Respect for the Individual. They gave up that one a long time ago. And WILL NOT is the operative phrase. They DO take that approach. Ever hear of the PCB RATING SYSTEM?????????? Due process does not exist. Shill. Or worse, Naive.
It is absurd that she gets a substantial raise at this time. The CEO has to take their share of the bumps and sometimes even work for $1 a year, HEY - STEVE JOBS DID IT. IBM is in trouble and she has multiple misses for revenue, dumps the Roadmap 2015 plan, fires thousands today and drives off from Armonk in her Benz with a nice fat raise. GOOD JOB IF YOU CAN GET IT. She is #$%$, pure and simple and the Board is the same for allowing this. May IBM implode because of this.
Oh you are wonderful. A Private equity BUYOUT? HAHAHAHA. Not happening but the way Ginni is guttig the company of really talented and smart people THIS TIME, the firm may not survive much longer.
I BELIEVE IN LOUSY MANAGEMENT. GO URSULA!!! Keep delivering poor results and WE ARE GOING TO $12 TODAY. I USED TO BELIEVE AND YOU SHOULD TOO. More Lousy results COMING....
GO BIG X!!!!!!!!!!!! .............oh, eh, today is Friday. My Bad.
So if IBM is doing so great, why are they firing people, why has Ginni produced consistent revenue DECLINE and not gains? Why do clients LEAVE IBM? IBM is a non-player in the cloud game, as with the PC long ago, it is too large, too late and too slow to arrive at the dance.
Respect for the employee
Go the extra mile to do a thing right
Spend alot of time keeping the customer happy.
Not a word about shareholder value or earnings per share?
So today it would be....
Respect for the shareholder
Go the extra mile to reduce expenses and keep shareholder value up
Spend alot of time keeping shareholders happy.
The really real problem is that IBM still believes it is the IBM of old, the giant who manipulated the market, managed market share by FUD tactics and could swing mainframes this way and that, rules that no longer apply to anything happening in IT today. Old habits are very hard to break. God help Ginni if she places reliance on "foils" in presentations. (IBMers know what that phrase means).
