Time to remember and have that Krispy Kreme doughnut at 10:29 am

  • Sounds weird, but I am watching for Jobs in Georgia and CSC has an open position for the Center for Disease Control - ??? OMG, this lousy firm is a contractor for this location? First, it is CSC so I would never apply and it is also CDC so I want to come home alive at the end of the day.

On the main message board page, the last title display came up as "The software behind Watson probing the mysteries of" and instantly I added " the IBM Board of Directors."

I can see the reply coming from the shills. YOU were just deadwood and I am glad they fired you, because it was people like YOU bringing the company down. Yeah ... guaranteed response. GLAD you are free.

Ah yes, shareholder value, the ONLY THING American Business exists for. Not providing service or good, not creating a positive workplace environment and providing a social need. Nope, only shareholders count. Oh and how LONG did it take for Xerox to crest beyond $12 on a Friday to create such HUGE value??? You are a person of profound patience. Now, to to the 121, those employees are FIRED. They did not quit. FIRED. That means generally that they wouldstay, and you can argue that Xerox is a good place or I can that paychecks matter, but either way they are being SHOWN THE DOOR. And that always helps shareholder value, right?? You are the complete jerk.

Gee, the SEC has settled with Lynn Blodgett about inflating financial data. Who would have thought these honest, hard working people would EVER lie about something??? And Ursula bought the #$%$.

Paycheck is a good reason to stay - in this economy. One can endure alot under the conditions, OH WAIT, THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER if you listen to THE ONE who blesses Ursula. They would stay but they are FIRED sir. Lotsa IBMers are in the same boat. Oh, Microsoft too. I guess you are on the shill crowd for Ursula and I BELIEVE, YOU SHOULD TOO.

    Farewell to John Akers

John was an IBMer of the old school - blue suit, white shirt, red tie era. It was a glorious time but IBM was aging beyond it's ability to respond to the rapid changes in the mid-range and PC range market, plus giving the OS war to Microsoft. Akers was a good man in a very bad spot. Certainly better in many ways than Lou, who did salvage the mess and FAR better than SAM or GINNY. RIP John.

I cannot forget my own experience with CSC - Constantly Screwed Customers. Jeremiah knows my story well. August 2004 - outsourced and promises, YOU have a great future with CSC, lotsa benefits, good stuff - total happiness. 14 months. December, 2005. Goodbye and don't let the door hit your on the way out. (Oh, that was 140 of us too that got the shaft). Epilogue - CSC called in BancTec to make offers. To only 40 of us, not more. The offers were so bad only 10 accepted and the count of 40 was engineered to skirt the Federal WARN act provisions, 100 or more and you have to pay 60 days severance, not 30. Cute.

Real reason for same stores sales decline

We just moved to Georgia and researched TV purchase. 60" seemed to be a break-point for good price and up from there the price went through the roof. SHARP Smart TV was our choice, do not regret it. Did not purchase at Best Buy because they are NEVER the best price. As an IT professional, the ONLY good thing this store has is a great cell phone selection. OK, that's good but that is not enough to hold my interest for other items. Their tech support department is also a total joke.

Outside, I sat on a bench with my former manager discussing Aon and on his cell phone he spotted the AONGuest Wireless Network. Attempted to connect, do not think he did but it should be broadcast around the area like that. HIDDEN SSID folks????

  • retiredexaon by retiredexaon Aug 27, 2014 6:06 PM Flag

I recently visiting my old Aon office and was confronted with demands of corp security - that all visitors required an ESCORT by an Aon Colleague to walk the halls. True. No matter door pass, ID card, etc or floor by floor card readers, you need to be escorted by a COLLEAGUE. Suffice it to say, I bypass the system entirely. An Aon colleague let me tailgate through one office floor entry and I was able to visit, say greetings to old friends and then do the same to another floor entirely. So much for security. On the inside, morale is gone. Everything is McKinsey mind-set expense madness. I was even warned by people I KNOW not to venture out beyond the hallway pending action. Incredible. Needless to say I did not want to incur wrath and departed quickly, but the entire visit is depressing beyond belief.

  • How much did it cost the firm to send Ursula Burns up to the fashionable and trendy Hamptons last week for a round of dancing with THE ONE, her patron saint and benefactor. I think the 121 fired will think less of that little trip now. 29% approval rating among employees. Means 71% do not approve. MORE GOOD NEWS COMING SOON!!!!!

IBM is a dying company. Morale is non-existant. The Roadmap 2015 is a dreadful charge. IBM has to sell it's chip business and server business to stay alive and hit the Roadmap target. Huge spending for staff in India. They are so bad they could not even build and a manage a freaking DATA CENTER for Texas about a year or so ago. That bad. Real growth? How about bad revenue numbers for every quarter since Ginny has been on the throne. Please, another shill.

Question for YOMD - non business, but you indicated you hail from Dublin, presume Ireland and, if so, MAN do I envy your countryside. I know everything in life can be good and bad specifics, but envy.

  • retiredexaon by retiredexaon Aug 19, 2014 11:26 AM Flag

Please post something that makes business sense other than one-line attacks on Ginni. Your one act show is boring.

  • retiredexaon retiredexaon Aug 19, 2014 8:10 AM Flag

Good to see you back Jeremiah. Spot on but you can extend this logic to most of corporate America, thinking of IBM to start with. If you go back to W. Edwards Deming, the logic that business exists for the SHAREHOLDERS (and executives) is just plain wrong. IF the business exists for CUSTOMERS and provides a valuable, REAL SERVICE plus treating employees well (see Watson, Thomas J. Sr.) THEN it will thrive. Shareholders will be rewarded and new business will acrue. EGAD, what a novel concept?

  • retiredexaon by retiredexaon Aug 17, 2014 7:41 AM Flag

Well, that means that plenty of cash is coming to rescue Roadmap 2015. And now IBM can get down to what it does best.....whatever that was or is. They are dumping servers, want to dump chip manufacturing, got out of small systems ages ago. Service for clients is problematic at best, many clients have dumped IBM support years in advance of end of contract. Ginny has not produced winning revenue numbers for about 2 years now. Morale is shot full of holes. So tell em YOMD why am I negative? What is this once glorious company doing RIGHT?????
