Yeah? So explain to me why this company has almost 2 billion in earnings for the quarter, but just over 300 million in free cash flow.?
If extreme athletes and weekend warriors are always on camera, does this make them engage in riskier behavior in order to look good? Does it distract them when they imagine what the camera is seeing? Is there any research / or will there be that reveals that people wearing GoPros are more likely to have accidents? I will laugh when NY bans GoPros along with big gulps. Good company... overpriced stock.
Bashing is pathetic and I don't short, and hey, it sucks to miss a train like this... but I would recommend having an exit strategy. This stock is way overvalued, based on their sales, based on their product line... pretty much by any metric. But it's got MOMO, so ride it. Just know when to get off it. For the people who got on early... congratulations! But I consider it a very scary stock at this altitude. Luck to all.
YHOO's Alibaba stake exceeds its market cap. With BABA at $85 - $90 range, Yahoo's proceeds from the IPO and their remaining stake values their BABA benefit (~45B) above the current market cap of YHOO(~42B) -- meaning Yahoo!Japan and the core company including TumblR have negative value... in spite of the fact that they are profitable.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
No, they sell @ $68. Otherwise there would be no point in setting a price. The difference between $68 and the opening price... say $90... goes to the subscribers to the underwriting. If you could get in on the IPO, you would pay $68 and could then flip for a quick 30% gain. Still, with BABA at $85 - $90 range, Yahoo's proceeds from the IPO and their remaining stake values their BABA benefit above the current market cap of YHOO -- meaning Yahoo!Japan and the core company including TumblR have negative value... in spite of the fact that they are profitable.

JP Morgan Says Jazz Pharmaceuticals Positioned For 'Organic Growth And Acquisition'
What would compel someone to short a stock that has rapid growth, huge cash flow, takeover potential AND a LOW P/E? If this was GPRO or TWTR, I would at least understand. I would not short them, but I would understand. Shorting JAZZ is asking to get burned.
Why say stupid things like this? In the past 2-3 years, their cash stockpile has quadrupled.... cash flow has doubled, and the company has anticipated earnings of over $10 a share. Whether you think it is overpriced and a good stock or not is a matter of opinion. I happen to think JAZZ has a good future. But I appreciate well thought out bearish positions... Your comments however are unjustified and untrue. I can only speculate that you went short at $135 and are bitter. I wish you better investing luck in the future.
Or nosedive? I am starting to think this stock is dead money for the next couple of years. FDA approvals are far off and despite upgrades, positive ratings, this continues to go down. Thinking that the analysts are simply giving insiders and institutions what little cover they can to get out. I have been long since shortly after the IPO... even added to my position along the way... but no one is supporting this stock. Feel like this may have simply been a wealth transfer, with insiders cashing out.
This STOCK has a cult-like following. I am not saying this is not a good company, just that it is getting way over-hyped.
This stock is a momentum stock trading on hype and prospects. Nikon and Canon sell a LOT more cameras and other equipment... are a lot more profitable... and trade at dramatically lower multiples of sales and profits. At 22% annual growth YOY (a little higher than analysts estimates for 2015), it will take GPRO 9 years to catch up with Nikon in sales, although it already has a market cap a billion dollars MORE than Nikon. It will take 17 consecutive years of 22% growth to surpass Canon. Next year's P/E is 4+ times Nikon and Canon. I have no position in this stock and I NEVER short stocks. Not my thing. I don't like betting against someone's success. That said, this is a potentially volatile stock that can see huge swings, both up and down. Valuation points to the belief that this can become much more than a hardware company, If it does the valuation could be justified. If it doesn't, this stock is likely overvalued. In any case, I would anticipate severe swings as this eqity is all about momentum.
Hope you were not short, as the stock is up over 10% since you pontificated 2 days ago. This is a growth stock trading at a low multiple.
You are right! Ricci needs to go. But it's not going to happen. Time to sell this dog, take losses, lick wounds and move on. Ricci's performance is bad. His communication is worse. They keep talking about bookings growth... but it doesn't translate into revenue or earnings. I have held this loser for 2 years. I'll look for a bounce and get out. I'm not going to short this as I don't believe in shorting, but what do you see in this roadkill of a co. that you keep calling this a "strong buy?"
Sell and take the loss before it goes lower. That is what I am doing. This is a horribly mis-managed company. With the technology they have, it is amazing how badly this appears to be run. After 2 years of disappointments and no vision from management, I realize that this co. is going nowhere unless Ricci leaves. As one of the highest paid CEOs of any company, and with the poison pill he passed, Ricci is not going anywhere. Wouldn't be surprised to see this co. in single digits if Ricci stays in charge.
I was "pro" GPRO until I saw the real #s... "The net loss was $19.8 million for the second quarter, almost four times bigger than the $5.1 million loss from a year earlier, the company said in a statement yesterday. "
Seems like dilution may be a culprit as well. And the competition is stepping up. Maybe this company can be a buyout candidate for someone who wants hardware and the potential of content.
I will keep my eye on this, but it makes me nervous that their losses are increasing.
That's what all the shorts said when my BIDU dropped from 185 to 150.... now it is pushing 220. If you (shorts) feel the need to gloat, you just aren't very confident. You seem to be less interested in making money than in seeing others get hurt. Actually SNDK seems to be consolidating pretty well in the low 90s. I am going to start buying a little here if the market stabilizes. I originally bought at 16 in 2007, watched it go under 8 in '08, and have added a little on dips over the years. I feel okay with where it is now. Glad you are making some money, and good luck to all.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
This is a heavily manipulated stock... and I wish I had not bought in. Don't feel there is transparency. Lots of big firms put out buys on this stock, but it has performed terribly, on generally thin volume. Today we have big volume (for this stock) and a big price drop. Clearly someone knows something. Either bad news... or someone is manipulating down to accumulate shares at a lower price. In either case, this is wrong. For the time being, I will sit on my shares, but suspect that something illegal/unethical is going on.
And we get pummeled again today. Seems there is some behind the scenes knowledge.... or manipulation. I agree this stock appears undervalued, but have learned from experience that there is usually a reason. Perhaps the patent issues that are being downplayed are more of a problem than we are led to believe. Or weakness in the pipeline.
