    Huge gap must be filled

After these kinds of run ups you will get some back sliding; however, the price now reflects a completely different company resulting from the takeover.

  • NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) has been on the move lately as the stock has risen by 27.9% in the past four weeks, and it is currently trading well above its 20-Day SMA. This is a pretty solid move higher, but the question that has to be on investors’ minds right now is; can this trend continue?

While there can be no telling for sure, it is certainly encouraging that earnings estimates have risen in the past few weeks on the company, suggesting that sentiment on NXPI is moving in the right direction. In fact, the stock currently has a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), suggesting that the recent run could certainly continue for this in-focus company.

Zacks article does not mention the takeover but it is just a snippet to get you to buy the full report. Regardless it is interesting and rated a strong buy.

  • City of Tulsa Wins Southwestern American Water Works Association's Best-Tasting Water Award for Second Consecutive Year - BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Cabot Corporation (CBT) announced that its activated carbon is used to purify some of the best-tasting water in the United States. The City of Tulsa, Okla. recently claimed the award for best-tasting water in the region for the second year in a row at the Southwestern American Water Works Association's annual conference.

Tulsa’s water goes through an extensive and thorough treatment and testing process before it reaches a resident’s faucet. The city’s water meets all federal and state regulations, meaning that the water not only tastes good, but that it is also safe to drink.

For the past 15 years, the City of Tulsa has exclusively utilized NORIT® GAC 820 and HYDRODARCO® 820 granular activated carbons at both of its municipal potable water plants. This highly porous, carbonaceous material purifies drinking water by adsorbing and removing natural organic compounds, synthetic organic chemicals, and taste and odor causing compounds.

“Cabot Norit Activated Carbon is a technology leader in the global water purification market. We develop, manufacture and market a broad range of activated carbons that ensure potable water is safe, reliable and tastes great,” said Friedrich von Gottberg, senior vice president and president, Purification Solutions Segment. “Our activated carbon products meet the most stringent global requirements and help water utilities provide their customers with safe, reliable drinking water straight from the tap.”

Cramer hyped REGN when it was under $20 about 5 years ago. Now over $400. What a loser Cramer is!!

  • Is there anyone out there who owns stock in this company???

  • REGN presented at the Cowen conference earlier today. The webcast is on REGN investor portion of company website for anyone that actually listens to what the company is actually doing. The question and answer was in a break out room so no Q&A on the webcast. Nice encapsulation of where they are with the 4 main compounds plus quick update on some newer work.

Since most energy stocks were down today ETF's must have been down and they drag down everything in them. PSX is in a lot of ETF's that are broad based in the energy space. Then add to this all the prior comments on this string.

    Stock split?

there have been 4 splits all 2 for 1 in 1972, 1987, 1994 & 2003. The day before all the splits the stock was over $100. In 1987 it was over 150 which would be a huge number based on inflation. There are many companies that just do not care about splits anymore. Visa is over $270. Lockheed is over $200 just to name a couple. It is a Dow stock now so you do not need more liquidity.

To bad they did not have more time. The analyst asking the questions kept on cutting in and not let the full answer. There were more questions than time. Definitely a lot going on.

If you follow the company closely like all the conference calls, analyst's days and news items you know that they have huge backlog in growth CAPEX projects. These projects are spread over all of their assessts such as pipelines, Jones act tankers, terminals, barges etc. The big projects are not undertaken unless they sell out usage on the pipes or ships out into the future for many years. This will ultimately lead to higher earnings and cash flow.

Astronomers are constantly monitoring the Suns activity and particular sun spots. There has been a reduction in the latest cycle and there are some that are concerned. I read one article that activity has been lower than forecasts.

    The Maunder Minimum

Early records of sunspots indicate that the Sun went through a period of inactivity in the late 17th century. Very few sunspots were seen on the Sun from about 1645 to 1715 (38 kb JPEG image). Although the observations were not as extensive as in later years, the Sun was in fact well observed during this time and this lack of sunspots is well documented. This period of solar inactivity also corresponds to a climatic period called the "Little Ice Age" when rivers that are normally ice-free froze and snow fields remained year-round at lower altitudes. There is evidence that the Sun has had similar periods of inactivity in the more distant past. The connection between solar activity and terrestrial climate is an area of on-going research.

I need to amend part of your narrative see below:

Government has a motive for everything they say and do and seldom does it have anything to do with the common good.

It should read " nor common sense".

They talked about this on a recent conference call and in more detail in the Analysts' day presentation. I believe that the webcast is no longer up on the investor site but the slides are and slide 8 gives a summary of all the businesses and products that they have products embedded. If you want more look at all the slides and listen to their next webcast for 2nd Q results. To get more info call the company or e-mail for the most recent annual report.

So the basic question is money coming back into this sector??? REGN (which I also own) was up big today on some good study report. REGN has also been marking time since earnings. Often stocks in this sector move together.

The problem with all these posts about utopia is that they have little relevance to the US. He forgot to tell you that 80% of the electric power comes form water power because they get over 100 inches of rain per year. In addition when there are droughts, which apparently do occur form time to time, they are forced to buy electric at high rates form suppliers that do use carbon based generation. On top of that the cost of power is very high which they can deal with because they are primarily an agricultural economy having almost zero heavy industry and some light manufacturing. if they were making steel, aluminum, automobiles etc. the current power sources would not cut it. BS like this just makes you look like a buffoon.

The price targets are fine, but we just came out of an earnings period for all the biotechs and there really isn't a lot to move them in the short run. Good time to add shares for long pull. Those targets are for the next year not tomorrow. If we get in that $156 - $163 range by year end I would be happy. It means they will have better visibility out to 2020 and all their targets will have been increased.
I also own REGN which is also backing and filling and a great long term investment with a great pipeline.
