from the sound of it you have been scammed by cramer. he always said do your own homework.
Do you know what display ad declines mean? Mobile is where ad dollars continue flowing, and facebook is arguably the best positioned mobile company in the world today aside from apple.
That's fair reference, I see that it specifically states LCD. In any case, OLED isn't making a push into desktop screens as of yet so its really a non-event.
Is anyone familiar with the LCD technology advancements and can summarize what may still be advancing on that front?
Thanks for the somewhat technical reply back. Can you also provide your thoughts on the the representation image of the layers of the new "organic passivation" screen? There is a breakout of layers shown as 1. pixels, 2. organic passivation, and 3. data lines. This is more reminiscent of all of the images typically captured in OLED vs LCD technology examples where LEDs require more layers and hence thickness.
There's also a sell of slimmer profiling for the imac and ipads. Is it possible that OLED technology is driving this or have there just been significant advances in LCD technology that enable this?
Apple site also claims 30% less power consumption. I understand OLED technology is supposed to be more power efficient.
Maybe I'm fooled by the selling or hyping of OLED vs LCD technology but would appreciate any technical opinions relating to some of these claims, and the likelihood it is/isn't OLED powered.
I'm interested on more background/info on this organic passivation "overpass" technology. The term smells like OLED, as well as the images showing only a few layers of the screen, but I'm anxious for confirmation from someone technical/reputable.
Oled-info has a new article stating it was verified by a reputable source. Take it for what it is. Positive. This should move back to $39 soon enough, and bust through with an announced long term LG contract.
Your Apple watch thesis is correct on the point the contribution the device screens make relative to its larger TV counterparts. That said, it is not insignificant to have Apple on board with oled technology in one of its devices. For us longs, that represents the first step into the door for a product of the largest market cap company in the world. From there it represents potential to become applied in all other products, phones, tablets, laptops, tvs (?), whatever else Apple has today or in the future. It would be a valuable and nice validation of the technology.
That said, I'm still long regardless and excited for OLED's future.
*crickets. the way it should be.
yahoo fantasy football mobile app is pretty sweet. they have toyota as a sponsor. just saying.
or you could like the real thing. WSJ. Google "Apple Watch to Allow Mobile Payments" to access.
"The smartwatch would be offered in two sizes, each featuring a curved organic light-emitting diode screen, those people familiar with the device said. It will include sensors to track and monitor health and fitness data, the people said."
on point panlhead. i ignore anyone that starts a thread mentioning wadapos. longer term board members will notice there's an unusual amount of threads opened talking about whatapos, and in all likelihood it is whatapos himself creating accounts to generate noise.
recommendation to all, ignore not only whatapos but any other posts mentioning that name.

Psychological challenges with falling stock prices with an otherwise undamaged business. The reason for the falling stock price was related to my stock being associated with a broader market issue, and was hence getting knocked down because as the saying goes (baby getting tossed out with the bath water), in addition to opening up the doors for "hit pieces" from shorts to further knock it down.
i reassessed the stock multiple times. big 4 cpa, check. institutional support, check. ceo support with open market purchase at $X, check. growing business and profitable, check. nothing hat fundamentally changed except it was getting slammed on its stock price. the decision was whether to back out and accept the losses, or double down and then some. i chose the latter and it paid off.
that said, its not an easy decision when sources feed your mind with doubts and you see RED all over your stock portfolio.
stock repurchase ($7MM of $50MM used) sets a floor in the range that the stock has fluctuated since that was announced. I forget the date off the top of my head but believe that floor is probably high $20s. There's still a good chuck left to support the price so that should take us to the next LG contract/iwatch/other news announcement.
All of this leaves me cautiously optimistic in the short term prospects as samsung material sales declines is a possibility. Long term though the future is bright for Universal Display and oled technologies. I'm long.
Looking forward to today's call.
