What are you talking about..."freshman" Ryan? He has been in the House for quite a while. He also leads the Budget Committee and knows the budget inside and out. Biden on the other hand finds his foot in his mouth more often than not. Their debate ought to be a real "laugher".

In an analysis of the polls taken this week, you can find an overwhelming number of democrats polled. And even at that, Obama can't seem to get over 50%. All you have to do to analyze these polls is look at the lead Romney has in the Independents column. If this holds up, this election will be over before the votes are counted in California....remember the Jimmy Carter fiasco re-election night? So, Dems don't blow too much smoke up our #$%$ when you spout poll results.

I am an independent and don't like unions. What I hate about unions is that even when the economic conditions are bad, or a company is going down the tubes, or the city coffers are going empty, the unions never give a nickel to compromise. This is their downfall. Most people in the private sector see this and they end up hating unions of any kind. So, it is not just Republicans that are against most organizing, it is Independents as well.

If you don't like the acquisition, then sell. This company has done nothing but grow since I bought into it in 2006. Great dividends plus capital appreciation. Just buy the stock and hold it. Don't get into the trading mode. It isn't that type of stock.

The most despicable DNC chairman yet. Couldn't tell the truth if her life depended upon it. Plus, she is so far left that she wouldn't even fit into French politics.

    GE profit taking coming??????

Nice to see a non-political comment on the board. So, to respond, GE is planning to buy back almost $4Billion in stock this Fall plus increase the dividend in December. The amount of the divvy increase is open for conjecture. A normal increase is about $0.08 annually. However, I expect more than that to increase the yield markedly. So, to buy GE at 19.50 is certainly a good buy point if it does drop. Then, hold on for at least 22.50 or more by the end of the year.

    **Ryan's $ocial $ecurity Plan **

You seem to post a lot of nonsense. Are you a paid "basher"? In what part of the Ryan plan where it says that seniors over 55 will not be effected by any changes in the social security pay outs does it say seniors will lose their SS? Perhaps since you are listed at 26 you should be concerned whether social security will even be available to you when you retire and whether you will get out of the system at least as much as you put in. Grow up kid. Don't be a fool and just spout the Democrat line of BS.

Romeny Needs To Come Clean w/Public

First of all, I am not sure why I bother to respond to a paid spammer, but since you brought up Romney not coming clesn...then I can bring up Obama's school records. Why has he paid millions of dollars to hide his school records? Mmm? What is in those records that he doesn't want published? At first, I thought it might be his poor grades and he couldn't stand the criticism. Now, I believe it to be his use of "being a foreign student" to get into Columbia and Harvard. They needed diversity. And, with poor grades at Occidental College, his grades were subservient to his "diversity" aspect. What a liar this man is and such a phony. He has many skeletons in his closet...more so than Romney. You are such a fool to back him, but again, you get paid for this nonsense.

Why would Obama ever condemn these false accusations when he is the person who "supports" them. He has all his little minions lined up to trash any opponent in his Chicago style of politics. Look for a daily trash accusation from now until the elections. I hope our Independents are not so stupid as to accept this loser type of politics and vote for the right man this November (ABO).

I just don't see why Obama refuses to release something as innocuous as his college records. What is he so secretive about this? Oh yes, I remember. The Dems made such a fuss over Bush's records saying he was/is just plain stupid...even though he graduated from a very prestigious school. I guess Obama's grades are just as bad as Bush's and we KNOW he can't take any criticism. I am supportive of tax records being released by both Romney and Obama. I for one would like to know how Obama got rich working for the government.

They want 12 years of Romney's tax returns ???

    by jrjameszr1 Jul 30, 2012 11:05 AM
richmondinvestor richmondinvestor Jul 30, 2012 11:16 AM Flag

If so, then I want to see 12 years of Obama, Reid and especially Nancy Pelosi who most recently stated that Congress knows as much as they need to know about her returns. This is such a baloney argument by the Dems.

I have expected an increase in divy for a while, but realistically with the company buying back $4-5 Billion in shares this Fall, it only makes sense to see the divy increase announced in December. If it is less than $0.12 annually, I will be very disappointed. Long time holder of this stock, so I have enjoyed the dividends immensely.

What's hiding in Mitt's Tax Returns?

Why don't you ask Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid the same thing. They wont show there tax returns either. Pelosi even said that Congress knows all they NEED to know about her returns. So, don't be so smug on your side of the aisle.

the same one Harry Reid follows. Any other questions?

  • richmondinvestor by richmondinvestor Jul 13, 2012 1:18 PM Flag

With the dividend having been resumed with payment on June 29, 2012 and the stock price rising, I pose two possibilities. One, the stock price is rising because there is credibility in the dividends continuing. Or, two, that this preferred stock will be called at the end of 2012. Either way, I am glad that I did not sell to the bank two years ago.

Will they really pay Scranton workers minimum?

I love the idiocy of the judge who said to pay the workers their full wage. If there is no money, how do they pay? I also hope this judge is a local judge who has his salary reduced to minimum wage as well.

1 for 3 reverse stock split!!!

    by vortecman Jul 9, 2012 1:02 PM
richmondinvestor richmondinvestor Jul 9, 2012 1:10 PM Flag

Why? Just because a comapany does a reverse stock split doesn't always mean it will be going under. To the poster who said he never saw a good reversse split for the shareholder, I can name one. Newmarket (formerly Ethyl Corp in Richmond, VA) did a reverse stock split several years ago. Today the stock is over 220 per share. Duke did a reverse split to match Progress Energy in price for shares to be exchanged. The price fluctuation is solely due to the shenanigans related to to the ouster of the Progress Energy CEO and his benefit package. This stock is still a good buy. Wait for a good buy in price.
