I was talking about the 128gb version. It can't be more than 10-15 million for demand. Most buyers choose the lowest storage option. A 128gb sapphire 5.5 iPhone 6 may cost $500 or more with a contract, $1,000 without.
Just a rumor I was reading. It said that sapphire will only be on the 5.5 128gb model.
There's no doubt it is real. Problem is....yields are low. Rumor is that sapphire will be only on the 128gb 5.5 version. I don't think apple will sell more than 10 million of that model. The street was modeling for 200 million sapphire covers. Now it is 10 million. Understandable why the stock has dropped 30%. I'm buying if it goes to $10 hoping that Apple keeps gt on as a supplier. Iffy since Apple can't be thrilled with gt since they were unable to fill the order. However it looks like gt is the only company that has the ability, or says they have the ability, to make a couple hundred million sapphire screens...that gives me hope it might reach $20 in 2016. Their solvency depends on if Apple continues down the sapphire road...hard to say for sure if they will. It's worth the gamble that sapphire is the future.
Rumors kinda make sense with the 30% drop from high. It's hard to believe it wouldn't be on the 5.5 model....maybe Apple will wait till next year when the yields can be depended upon. And even say the iwatch won't include sapphire on all models. If that's the case I think $10 is right around the corner. I'll be buying hand over fist at 9 or 10 dollars because the iphone 7 will definitely have sapphire. Gtat will be back to $20 when the iPhone 7 is revealed in September of 2015. Who knows.....the iPhone 7 might be have sapphire on front and back. Good stock to own. Just not at this point and time.
