my initial thought as a medical provider and not as an insurer is that while they give top priorty to those in serious condition because of fatality that they would want to treat others before irreparable damages are done so to limit future bills so that it will not affect it. I would think that the supply may be somewhat limited if not only the money to pay for it.

possibly, but when I say the company is losing money( which I didnt say) and they say but I love it then who is delusional. you should argue with facts not subjectivity. I never said the company was bad, I have owned it and I will own it again I just say there are times to buy and times to sell and you need to know when, why and the fact the dividend is not enough. Since march 2007 the total return( dividend minus stock price loss) has gotten a person 2.76% annual return not compounded. If that makes you happy and you have been here since 2007 then be happy but you have lost purchasing power. One of the reasons I dont have CDs or bonds

IN REGARDS to another poster comment going back to 2007 the yeild figuring stock price loss has been 2.76% per year. but the dividend has increased since 2004. and for below yes they have some collateral but it seems todisappear when loans go bad for a corporation. and the companies are not top of line or they would pay less % and go to regular banks. I pay 3.15% while they are paying double digits. As my 90 yr old dad says if the payout is high there is a lot of risk and that flows both for the payor and payee. Which is fine, but you should realize it when going in as it is not all roses

that is an exceptable investment format as long as you know the risks and dont hold too long, everything has cycles both short term and long term. this stock imo is good for recoveries to hold long term but when a recession is coming it is time to pull out and no i dont forsee a recession in the next 12 months. ME, i love stress, my wife says it is my life blood and what makes me go but I do get away for a little fishing from time to time. Spring is almost here and then I will no longer be day trading for several months then I will have more time to play with grandkids and take them fishing, we are even going rattlesnake hunting in Oklahoma this year. This summer i take 3 grandsons on a trip to california from missouri to see various sites there and on the way for 2 weeks. Last year I took 2 granddaughters to europe for 2 weeks. it was very enjoyable. GLTU

once I told someone that China would go broke and they said no it wouldnt they dont borrow, which is a fallacy they do borrow. But for example sake lets say I am Chinese and have $1 Billion dollars and I build $1b in rental property (such as one of their 5 empty cities) and spend all my money building these properties and they have no tenants. The maintenance in China is severe due to sand storms and I have no money to pay for maintenance and I have taxes to pay, how long before I am broke as I have no income to even buy myself food or to live much less take care of my property. You may say so what does this have to do with PSEC, well I have $6B in loans when the economy turns sour and a lot go broke and I have all these senior preferred loans sold that come due how do I pay them?? How many of you have ever owned a business? It is called a cash flow crunch. I was there in 1980 so I know. it is something to keep in mind long term, having said that if this goes below $10.50 I will be an owner.

that is a correct fact they have increased the dividend since actually 2004 but using 2007 they have paid in the last 7 yrs $9.70 in dividends and their stock has gone down $6.30 leaving you with a total return of $3,.30 on a $17.10 investment made in march 2007 since you brought it up. which is a 19.3% return for 7 yrs or 2.76% which a CD would have done better or most other stocks on the NYSE but thanks for the facts.

I do the bull call and bull put spreads and do not leg on that is speculating by doing spreads you take time value and make it your friend on ditm spreads. the return on GILD spreads is not good enough for me as it was in aapl's heyday. now I just sell puts on gild and clip the money on deep out of the money puts and if they want to sell it to me at that cost I will own a lot more of this stock even if I have to borrow the money.

yes it is but then i have thought that for a long time but it was getting a little stronger that it might happen more imminently here the last couple of days. not that it matters as if it went up $3 tomorrow I would still be holding but if it gets above $5 per share I have another account that I can trade it on that I cant now.

we have seen PSEC below $10 on three occasions and only once did it get above 12.75 in 2008 our last recession it got close to $8 That is for you that have short memories or dont look up facts. When business gets bad this suffers drastically. That doesnt mean there arent opportunities to be taken advantage of and one will be the upcoming removal from the indexes. It is hard to argue with facts and history. Subjectivity will lose every time. Study and be ready. Ignore at your own peril.

no i have 12 million and no debt therefore I cant fail and i dont have any loans that can go bad, The fact is that all of those deals could go bad, not likely but it wont take all of them to go bad only enough not to be able to pay creditors, I have seen a lot of business cycles in my lifetime and I will probably see a few more. Besides the failure was in reference to those that they make loans to as they are very high risk and why they pay very high rates. When the recession comes which is an eventuality that will happen then you will see how this goes and it will not go well. You can clip your CD coupons but when the wind changes you dont want to be here. You can bash me but in the end I will be right and either you will listen or you may not survive

you do know that your bet is not an even bet that you are betting $1050 against someoneelses $1100
i say we set up an escrow account and both send $1000 to it with instructions to disburse it to one of us upon pSEC reaching $11 or $!0.50 first.
