Yahoo ditched my rebuttal.
Nice job you losers.
((((The Japanese YEN was 77 to the Dollar today its 118.23 to to the Dollar what a easy way for the Japanese Auto manufacturers to make a profits.)))
And a few years before that it was 140 yen to the dollar so your comments arepointless.
((((Now, "real and wise" investors, such as yourself, have taken a horrendous beating on gold & silver for the past two years. Far, far worse than anything the GM investors you so love to mock have taken.))))
ANS: As I've said, a cherry-picked two year window of your choice does not define this investment and neither does its performance relative to GM tell the story. You are a moron.
((((Allow me to quote one of the resident geniuses on this board: "I did NOT - repeat, NOT - anticipate the legacy ignition switch time bomb Old GM left for New GM to get blown up by (how could I have known that?)." Answer? You couldn't. Will it continue going forward? Not likely. So why reference it? The PE of 20 is in the past. Astute investors look to the future!))))
ANS: You are going to be paying claims for these mistakes for years, Chebworth. Not everyone is going to be a sucker and take the bait and sign the deal with GM. Those who don't sign releases will find their own lawyers and take GM to the mat. It won't be pretty.
(((At these prices it is a steal.)))
Yes; sellers should be ashamed of asking so much.
((((Budget restraints are all that keeps most cop cars from being Tahoes))))
Budget constraints (not restraints you idiot -- that's the name of the outfit you're wearing) are all that keeps most cop cars from being bespoke Rolls Royce Phantom Coupes.
If you aren't the value proposition, no one cares how good you are....even if you're better.
I think it is safe to say the extremely high costs of legacy UAW health care forced GM to pinch its suppliers, go el cheapo on materials, outsource, cut back reliability testing, design and styling, and generally cut corners anywhere they could.
And although GM Mismanagement is 100% to blame for agreeing to provide free UAW lifetime health care, having to offset the high cost of this free health care DID have a strongly negative impact on car design, engineering, BOM, supplier selection and QC, and ultimately drove GM into bankruptcy.
In the end, it's management's fault that GM was killed. But the UAW backed them into a corner with their repeated strikes and made them do it.
((((Well, the PE of 20 assumes the switch fiasco continues ad infinitum. Assuming it stops, the PE goes to 7 or 8.))))
ANS: The PE of 20 makes no assumptions since it is a ttm figure. The PE of 7 or 8 is making assumptions which may or may not maerialize.
((((BTW, you've been referring to buyers of GM stock as "moron longs" for as long as I've been on this board.))))
((((For just as long, you've been a big promoter of gold & silver.))))
ANS: Longer. I have been bullish on gold since the $280 level when the British Central Bank announced its next auction of 1500 tons would be the last of its bullion sales.
((((Over the past two years, gold is down a third, silver is down by half, and GM is up a third. Now then Webby, if GM longs are morons, what term would you use to accurately describe gold & silver longs?))))
ANS: Realists and wise investors. Two year performance or performance relative to GM do not change that.
When I said not to buy it yet, it was because of the govt sales of millions of shares (which apparently they sold to a few big heavies, who then unloaded their positions over time onto you moron longs), the unwanted UAW Med Trust and Canadian shares, the surplus inventory and the UAW contract coming up.
I did NOT - repeat, NOT - anticipate the legacy ignition switch time bomb Old GM left for New GM to get blown up by (how could I have known that?).
Anyway, the unwanted shares, the contract talks, the inventory, and the ongoing lawsuits should tear GM shareholders a new one for the next year at least. Speculators may drive the stock up, but....really? Where is the sense in buying a razor-thin margin company at a PE of 20?
If you are a buy and hold guy it could make sense. I am a buy and hold guy but this whole business is a cutthroat game and GM does not have the longest nor the sharpest knives in their drawer anymore.
Yahoo is indeed FUBAR'ed.
Sometimes they will go for hours with anything you write coming back with "Failed to post".
((((True, but there was no battle with China.))))
There was no head to head full-out conflict with China, but there were hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans killing and/or getting killed by, Chinese soldiers. So his comment is reasonable.
Looks like the Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle is the current front runner with the DNA that cops need.
Cops I talked to want a fast car that is still safe in a crash, a front seat you can leap out of in a hurry, and a spacious console for their electronics.
Probably the 'hoe is the best vehicle Chevy offers for cops.
(((McArthur was not fighting the Chinese. As a matter of fact, Doolittle's bombers made emergency landings in China. Japan was fighting China.)))
Maybe he's referring to the Korean conflict.
(((What is this BS ,some code for you to talk to the used car salesman?)))
No, you moron. Yahoo in its wisdom decided to substitute the letter a for a string.
Why, I could not guess.
You #$%$re #$%$ssuming I bought #$%$t the top. This is underst#$%$nd#$%$ble, since you #$%$re #$%$ moron. However, th#$%$t 't#$%$in't the c#$%$se, bucko.

MLBOX, take that post down.
I've hit the UAW as hard as anybody on this board since 2005. We all know UAW is a useless organ of the left and people like jeyedolt paid them money for years.
They did irreparable harm to GM. However, if GM had had a strong and competent management team in place they would have been able to put those unions in their place and instead we had Roger "Rabbit" Smith who signed away the entire future of the company by promising lifetime gold-plated free health care to a million retirees.
Good gravy, how can you make a profit when you are a car company whose biggest supplier is BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD, not US Steel, PPG, Goodyear, etc?
Smith turned GM into a health care provider that happened to sell a few junky cars on the side for a loss.
