the guy needs to do better research. The transition he talks about DANG not making is happening before his eyes if he had read the filings, it just took longer than anticipated as it often does. Very lazy journalism

Qihoo 360 Technology Co. (QIHU:US), which uses Deloitte as its auditor, said the impact will be limited. Qihoo has scheduled its earnings date for around the end of February to early March. The company will announce a final date about 10 days ahead. Its American depositary receipts plunged 3 percent in New York trading yesterday.

“The ruling will take months to be finalized and if the auditing firms appeal it could take years,” Wu Jing, a director of investor relations for Qihoo, said by phone today. “We are closely monitoring the situation.”

The SEC ruling will not affect 2013 annual reporting of U.S.-listed Chinese stocks because the accounting firms may appeal and the ruling may take a long time to implement, China International Capital Corp. analysts Haofei Chen and Wanting Yu wrote in a report dated today.

With this interactive program, passengers can kill time in the departure lounge and enjoy more travel experiences at the airport, Guo said.

Gas station media network: a long-term project

AirMedia's Q3 financial statement shows that its gas station media network has earned US$3.3 million, down 15.6 percent from last year, but up 46.7 percent from last quarter.

The network was launched in 2009 but has brought little profit to the company.

"We have experienced four years of losses, but are beginning to head in the right direction," Guo said.

Earlier last year, AirMedia restructured the project, which included raising money from Sinopec Gas Station teams who bought shares in the subsidiary company. AirMedia also drew more than 600 million yuan from strategic investors at listed domestic companies, funding used to upgrade old advertising equipment at all Sinopec stations, Guo said.

AirMedia plans to upgrade 2,000 gas station LEDs nationwide, Guo added. "So far, we have upgraded 200 LED screens, and the ad screens at gas stations in Beijing have already been replaced by more eye-catching versions."

The network is likely to become a very influential outdoor LED platform in China, Guo added.

Installed at airport checkpoints, the LED large screens occupy favorable places, greatly improving ad arrival rates, Guo said.

The dynamic pictures combined with aesthetic effects, performed on the huge LED screens, make the visual effect impressive, Guo added.

Most of the large LED screens measure dozens of meters, according to Guo. "Those at Chengdu Airport are 40 meters long, and the to-be-built screens in Nanjing Airport are 70 meters long," he said. "These large screens make the airports more lively and attractive. They have almost become landmarks at the airports."

Data released by an AirMedia blue paper show that airline passengers scan the large LED screens 2.3 times on average, and those scan more than three times account for 26.5 percent.

As it takes time to pass through a security checkpoint, that ensures more opportunities for passengers to catch the advertisement on the screens, he said.

Business travelers are an influential group, and their consumption style will inevitably have an influence on people around them, Guo said. "That's why AirMedia insists on its upscale strategy."

So far, the large LED screen industry has been growing fast, Guo said. The screens are more effective than the old traditional static outdoor ads, and they are embraced by local governments because they believe large LED screens are part of the urban landscape, infusing the cities with more vitality.

Interactive program to improve user experience

AirMedia will offer an interactive program between mobile phone users and TV-attached Digital Frame screens at airports, offering more opportunities for travelers, according to the group's chief executive officer.

Passengers will get a big surprise just by scanning a two-dimensional code (or QR code) on the screens, said Guo.

There will be a variety of prizes, ranging from QQ coins to five year's free use of a Mercedes Benz or BMW, Guo said, adding that the program is expected to start in the first quarter of next year.

  • Beijing (ECNS)-- As more people are choosing the airplane as their mode of travel, AirMedia Group, a leading operator of out-of-home advertising platforms in China targeting mid-to-high-end consumers, is trying to find ways to attract airline travelers' attention during their journey.

Apart from its traditional business on airport screens advertising, it is looking for new ways to speed up its development, which include bringing in-flight WiFi technology to the airport travelers, strategically placing LED large screens at airports, introducing interactive program at airports, and upgrading its gas station ad network.

    Inflight Wi-Fi, a big opportunity

Feeling bored on the plane? Unable to get access to important emails? Inflight Wi-Fi technology, a new internet service for air passengers, can fix all that.

By using satellite technology, airplane Wi-Fi can meet the needs of many different groups, said Guo Man, chairman and chief executive officer of AirMedia Group, in an interview with recently.

The demand for inflight internet is very strong, Guo said. "A market survey shows that more than 80 percent of passengers, especially business travelers, hope to get access to internet on planes."

AirMedia and Hainan Airlines New Culture Holding Ltd, a subsidiary of the Hainan Airlines Group, jointly founded a development fund for inflight internet on Oct 30, 2013.

AirMedia is pushing this project, Guo said, adding that passengers are expected to get access to internet on planes from the second half of next year.

Aviation Wi-Fi technology will also provide local area network services, such as movies and TV programs, Guo said, adding that there will also be e-commerce services.

Strategic place of LED big screens at airports

As high-end ad platforms aimed at travelers, the airport large screens not only offer advertisers advantaged resource superiority, but also provide airline travelers visual enjoyment, said Guo.
