The importance of adequate bowel prep

I believe in the FDA clinical trial for Cologuard that 100% of Colon cancers were found in white men and that in African American men it was 89%. If this could be corrected Cologuards accuracy would skyrocket toward close to 100% and above that for a colonoscopy.

When exactly does a Colon Cancer patient complete chemotherapy? I have been at it over eight years and they still want me back on chemo not that I will anytime soon. When you have completed chemo the next step is hospice care. When I think of a vaccine I normally think of a preventative not a last gasp.

The FDA is trying to get their head around it. See Obama talking about personalized medicine and money for it.

Listen I would have thought I would be the last one to go off the reservation but by chance I got involved with something, DCA, and it simply worked for two years. Problem is it is a neurotoxin and like a lot of chemo it caused neurapathy, nerve damage, which I have and which made me quit using it. Mito-DCA is supposed to be 6 times as effective and with less damage. If true that one is a cure in my book.

I am way off the reservation now using a combo of things that are right in the mainstream of the thinking of researchers but not tested in clinical trials. I think what I am doing is working. No chemo since last July and feel fine. It has worked for others and there are a number of people in Russia who started after I did and are doing even better than me. We are talking viruses and checkpoint inhibitors and one other crazy one.

There are cures out there, just not FDA tested and approved and know one knows which is what. You take your chances.

I get Google Alerts everyday about cures for CRC. What's new? And I am working on one myself, I have CRC. I think that there is a decent % chance I am right. But for the combo I am using to be approved by the FDA will take between 45 and 60 years to be approved. Other things that I can't get my hands on but would use like Mito-DCA and which I don't think even has funding yet could be outright cures. I used plain old DCA successfully for two years. I am at 8 years and 3 months fighting this so I am doing something right. But no, there is not FDA approved cure for CRC in the near future.

One more thing. First thing I tried after DX of Metastatic Colon Cancer, and before any chemo, was DCA and it worked for 18 months till I had to stop because of Peripheral Neurapathy. Reduced tumor 60+% in first 4 months and stable disease for next 14 months as I reduced dose. Still think the closest thing to a cure for cancer could be DCA. A researcher at the University of Georgia has engineered Mito-DCA and is looking for funding to have clinical trials. She probably will never get it yet I think from what she has told me that this could be a CURE! I am probably the only person in the world who upon DX of Metastatic Stage IV cancer FIRST used DCA.

Everything I am doing is either off label, foreign (Germany Dendritic) or WAY off the reservation. The combo I am most seriously considering now would be just that a combination of all three of above. And it will be very aggressive. How about radiation with a live virus and PD-1 inhibitor followed immediately by Dendritic with two live viruses and PD-1 inhibitor.

Every blood test I am given the doctors comment that I seem to have perfect blood. Though I have a tumor in my right lung every doctor that listens to my chest says they sound normal. New doctor thought maybe my Hylar tumor was not Colon Cancer so had a new biopsy mid December. That is second biopsy of same. Last was in 2009, same thing, surgeon didn't think Hylar tumor was Colon cancer, it was and still is. I personally wanted the biopsy to get more material to test for, one, PD-1. Biopsy turned into operation once I was under. Removed "substantial tumor material from upper right bronchia". Now I have lots of material that I will use. Operation put me down for holidays, ER, pneumonia, fine now.

Doctors are confused because my tumors don't act like Metastatic Colon Cancer or Lung cancer for that matter. Last Pet scan, early November, I was told I had two new hot spots in lymph nodes in both arm pits and that my tumors were very active. I have not had a new metastasis from the beginning, so I asked is there any other thing that could cause the lymph nodes (and tumors) to light up? Doctor said well a virus, have you had any virus lately? Funny since I had been injecting a live virus, as much as I thought safe, for the previous 12 weeks. No side affects. Doubled dose once, next time I will double dose again and increase frequency.

I calculated that if I were to wait for the various FDA clinical trials and combo trials of the stuff I am doing it would take a minimum of 45 years. I don't have that time being 70 now.

It has been interesting and getting more so.

1/10th normal volume, there are no more sellers, now we just need buyers. Any decent news will look pretty good from the bottom of this hole. I am being tempted here.

Sorry for your loss. I have been battling Colon cancer for 8 years +. Reolysin will not work for me because I am KRAS WT. Do you know what type your wife was? I am working with other viruses now and considering my first radiation treatment, a dentritic cell treatment, looking at using checkpoint inhibitors. Actually waiting for test results for PD-1/PD-L1 right now. In the meantime am enjoying life AMAP. Feel good, am in a race to Key West from Ft. Lauderdale on 15th. (sail). Never appreciated life as much as I do right now. Long ONCY!

    Comment I placed on article:

Did you factor in the declining population of cancers to detect with Cologuard every three years? After the first Cologuard test you will have found 42% of pre-Colon cancers leaving only 58% not found. With second test you find 66.8% of those not found in first test leaving 43.2% X 58 not found or 25.4% not found. With the third test you find 80.1% of those 25.4 or 20.4 leaving just 5% to be found in the forth test at 89% or leaving .5% not found by Cologuard.

Think the perfect testing for Colon Cancer would be Cologuard every three years and if all are negative a colonoscopy every 10.

And the general population of patients has a large segment that knows of Cologuard, were waiting for Cologuard and now are asking their docs for it. Also not part of the survey. 2015 a million test. Run rate at end of 2015, 2.5 million test.
