Opinion about DAKT as an investment

One Digital signage industry website I found has many press releases about Daktronics projects, many in recent months. I tried to post it here some time ago but I think it didn't post because I had the web link in the message and yahoo apparently doesn't like that. Anyhow, in is encouraging they are doing so many projects and installations. You should be able to see them by googling digitalsignageconnection and putting daktronics in their search engine. Many pages of DAKT related material will appear but it is unfortunately not in chronological order. Not many related to billboards, it seems DAKT doesn't really go after that market as aggressively as I hoped. However, besides the bigger projects like sporting venues they seem to be going after the interactive smaller POS displays that they are building with their new European acquisition.

Can Stratasys print Tulips? Of coarse it can--keep buying--after all--layering a plastic 4cent part in 4 hours is going to take over manufacturing soon, right? I bought SSYS before anyone realized what 3D printing was and now that everyone thinks they know what it is I am selling.

But sell DDD now. 3D is fun and good for prototypes but no way is it taking over for real manufacturing anytime soon. Tulips were pretty too.

but sell apple now. Apple blew it --I was going to buy Apple TV which I assumed would allow me to buy just the TV I watch but I got sick of waiting and resigned with cable and the 426 channels i am forced to buy.

  • People jumping on this stock thinking it has something to do with 3D printing when ironically it has much to lose as 3D printing gains popularity--PRLB is a competitor of the DDDs of the world.

  • I always thought of Pennys (Before Ron Johnson destroyed the company) as a company similar to Kohls as far as customer profile shopping there--for the "sales". So since many people have stopped shopping at Pennys, (by there own admission sales will be way down), wouldn't Kohls benefit?

  • His judgement in Pennys turnaround was breathtakingly stupid, sticking with and promoting Johnson which cost many people their jobs and investors Billions. Now this same Ackman has a Billion dollar short bet (with other people's money, of course) on Herbalife. Why would anyone with a brain listen to this proven idiot and be short HLF? Its one of the great wonders of the world how otherwise intelligent humans put undeserving and even certifiable fools (in Ackman's case) on pedestals and then follow them blindly. Watch out if he invites you over to serve kool aid.

    Sentiment: Hold

Yes, if not lower. By Fat Lady I assume you mean Meg, the most over rated CEO in history (well, maybe except Penny's Ron Johnson). She is a poster child for style over substance, or in her case an original thought. Sad that she will ultimately cost the jobs of so many dedicated smart people--the engineers and scientists that do the actual work at HP, all because she hasn't a clue on really running and growing a business. Don't tell me about EBAY. EBAY survived in spite of her.

  • The Wheat Belly Diet is gaining in popularity around Minnesota. It strongly advocates nuts such as the almonds that Diamond sells.

Something wrong with a world where someone as dumb as Ackman is a master of the universe and worth somewhere around a $ Billion.
