One last thought after listening to Darden's earnings is that the younger crowd does seem to be moving
away from sit down places and leaning towards fast casual like CMG.
I suppose that there will be some write downs as they try to sell the $$ losing Mimi's stores.
Even though guidance for the year remains intact, I am getting out as I see more short term downside
risk than upside potential.
I took the grandkids school clothes shopping
Saturday and the racks were picked clean at the Salt Lake City location. I am told at least 2 other locations in the valley were the same.
That is not the time to have no inventory, the Saturday before school starts, when selection is
more important than price to shoppers. We ended up
going next door to Kohl's to spend our money. I guess you can look at it either way, they had sold what they had and didn't overbuy. But I am out.
Allow me to suggest changing the metrics you use to measure future stock performance. I saw that Institutional owners were dumping, short interest was rising and analysts were downgrading, that is why I bought some put options before earnings. Hope that helps. All of these are readily available on Nasdaq.com or Yahoo.
I didn't learn anything I didn't already know about the stock market, but we all learned something about you, hopefully you did too.
Should be effective, as everyone will want to stay
in for at least a few weeks to get their dividend check. Meanwhile while shorts want to cover but no one wants to sell, very good situation for longs.
That's not what I see, I think there is 13 days of short covering about to occur.
In Downtown Salt Lake City they just opened a new store at the new City Creek Center. There is always over an hour wait, and it is $9 a slice for cheesecake, you'd think that would be good for the company. I just bought 3 options contracts for the report tonight so I hope they go up a few dollars tomorrow morning. But, I am a speculator.
I try not to fall in love with my stocks, but I liked that this company also did documents, safety gear and fire extinguishers. But with employment not improving (as they said) I prefer to get out early as the story deteriorates rather than later.
this hasn't fallen further with all the insider selling, missing analyst projections or company guidance, and with the extremely high P/E. I would have thought there would be more selling. I realize the growth may still be there however.
