Too funny - how bout on the 6th of Jan. when they make the big dividend cut then I want to hear you whimper about what they could have done a 49 cent dividend they just didnt because well because well because - your right they cant afford it.

Sell off as they dont want to hold it any longer - another year without an ongoing royalty has been the difference - approx 275 million dollar market cap is puny for institutions to hold onto. KL needed to make a deal soon after VHC's victory over Apple, no deal means he could not make the sale and thats his job as chief salesman for the company. He got overconfident and held out too long and his legal team while with fancy credentials overlooked the essentials in the Cisco case and KL didnt keep them on their toes. While anything is possible, most have thrown in the towel as another year down without a major success story.

So earnings are estimated at 20 cents this Q and prev. Div. at 45 cents why not just tell everybody what the 4th Q dividend is going to be its not like they dont know how much its going to be. My take is they dont want to tell now so price will hold higher for the year end number / say they drop it to the 20 cents then the share price drops another 50 to 60 cents for year end.

Seems like they are saying SFL got 108 million in cash and got - shares - in the subsidiary being that particular unit "Polaris" of Seadrill - seems that Seadrill for accounting purposes treats each unit as subsidiaries. Anyone know anything more on the subject ? Just trying to see the purpose for the transaction. Just guessing but my thought is SFL may have wanted cash to swing another purchase so more on SFL wanting to do another deal and for Seadrill to use cash in paying down debt with nondividend savings to lower year end debt % numbers.

Press release said Subsidiary of Seadrill - so why not state who the Sub is ? Looked at fleet report, but it does not indicate. Its not SDLP. Anyone know which sub it is ?

Announce now that they are waiting till after the new year to tell you then they are going to cut the dividend amount - we all know they cant fund a dividend that is substantially more than earnings.

He said that because Solar are govt subsidized jobs and Democrats love the political contributions that come from inefficient solar projects / against Keystone project because it does not need govt. subsidies and is in competition from solar projects - solar projects are perceived as green holy energy whether they are or not, so just another political statement to boost political contributions to the party of govt. handouts - as long as the receivers know to put some green paper in the Dummycrat coffers.

As I originally said - they are headed toward their 52 week low / not that they will actually reach it but that is the direction for the next 6 months at least / they were having new highs and generally going higher, but things have drastically changed / they are done meaning I see for the next 6 months much more downward pressure than upward pressure and the $70 's will be its rangebound area soon enough.

Reread what I said idiot - prices are going to decrease and margins decrease, I did not say they are going out of business - they just overpriced their products and got what they deserve and if you think they can keep gouging prices in a weak economy and insurance companies looking to slash costs you really are an IDIOT.

Its done, Express Scripts found the winning formula and you are burying your head in the sand if you think the last deal is a 1 and done, no its just the beginning and others will copy that formula meaning price war - GILD will be heading toward their 52 week low its inevitable.

I agree that SDLP is way better than priced, DO still amazes me how it holds up so well and SDLP does not - its a hidden gem with low volume that in time should double in price and still be less than when IPO'd and now has larger fleet so I too am optimistic. The only real negative I see is I am unlucky at stocks lol.

Bobdbeck - Saw that article too, and SDLP would have to be 10 to 15% higher than SDRL so things are not as bad as the media projects currently. Also saw the last Q report from Atwater - ATW - and it was very informative and showed ATW with 31% margin, ESV 29% margin, and Seadrill with 28% margin ( based on last 8 quarters SEC filings ) and I would have to guess that SDLP is 40% or higher - if you look at their last fleet report the rates they are getting are higher than any one else.

meant to say for 2015 coverage.

  • rogers2308 rogers2308 Dec 24, 2014 10:41 AM Flag

Your doom and gloom paintbrush is in overdrive, SDRL per even its detractors has over 75% contract coverage and will not be losing money but will still be making money and current estimates are that earnings will be MORE than 2014's earnings and contract rates are paid at contract rates it does not matter whether is $100.00 a barrel or $60.00 a barrel they earn the same //// I admit future contracts certainly will be influnced by the prevalent oil rate at time of contract negotiations for renewal or new contracts //// Next point is about the newbuilds will as an industry be delayed and the problems mentioned concerning them are way overstated //// Concerning bank interest rates are at very low rates - they are not going to go up much when earnings are clearly there to pay them and FED is determined to keep rates low.
