    jam,

Heavy degree of skepticism of Imos imo, seems to be a constant wall of worry Imos needs to climb to FV.
Been that way for years, why change now.
Can't/won't be a cheerleader, just looking last 3"+" yrs., and forward, company still hot on all cylinders.
Seems rational reason to stay long.

Question for Scottrade users re: Dividend

    johnboy,
    Correct on Scottrade.
Other accts. have posted the Imos dividend, Scottrade acct not yet, were slow last time also.
It should show up today, Monday at latest. One could trade the funds by calling mngr., if necessary.

See where we close today, amid market pop, though settling down a bit.

    buy,
Just saw another 6 share buy@$21.68, cat and mouse game continuing, actually the weekly/monthly graphs are showing conviction, just not the heavy volume in the a.m. I'd like to see.

    bama,
Time soon to show convergence of fundamentals and re-structuring for Imos, and Japan is today's catalyst for upward market momentum. Strong Asian markets are always a good thing for Taiwanese cos.

Today MCHP, the bad boy of last few weeks, declared a divi, CEO says correction based on China should end by early 2015,all the Chicken Littles who recently sold on irrational headlines are being taught a hard lesson of gut check buying [by some of us].

November will be interesting as Imos holding firm over 14 and 21 dma, cracks 21.60, but still light volume, see if it hits 50dma by next week. Need volume-based conviction to confirm hoped-for upcoming good news.

    Also love MU's big rebound!!

    silentbob,
Good luck on the trading, have been doing some of that, but never more than 10%, usually much less, though someone bought my $25.00 11/22/14 CCs, covering less than 6% of holdings. Have done it more w/MU.

Sure we'd all take $25 by the 22nd, though the price is not a reach imo.
Would be nice to hear something in Nov. to benefit your "shareholder value".
Always nice to see the divi in the accounts.

Seller returns, but shellacking was somewhat offset by closing over 21dma on a huge day for the Dow.
Would love to know who was buying 5, 15, 20-70 shares at a pop for the last 10 minutes, interspersed with a hundred here and there, and then 1700 shares at 20.96 at the close.
Need fundamentals to the fore to crack through and hold 21's and move in conjunction with 8150, which still trades on low volume.

    Turt,
Enjoy your analysis. Gave a quick thumbs up.

Agree that, unlike Amkr, Chipmos has been grounded in realism, never projected over- optimism? That's been their MO ; if anything, they were overly cautious until most recent quarters.

    Turt,
While SPIL is spilling over 3%, AMKR is getting slammed, down 16% on top and bottom line misses, Android issues, less than stellar guidance. Will test its 52 wk lows soon.
Seems previous Taiwanese based monthly revs failed to project qrtly results.

Meanwhile much smaller cap C- Mos monthly rev reports and optimistic updating shows execution continues to excell, and all would have to admit stock price is not being slammed with competitors' retreats.

November, with anticipated mngmt. Announcements and CC operations update, will be more important than
ever for FV stock appreciation imho. The upside remains big time.

Meanwhile saw SPIL's results, and just received its CC transcript, pretty sparse, some good news on EPS, some reduced CAPEX, and "fan out" statements on customer contracts, with some "pushing out", some China slowdown reference, but all in all really seems ok, stock pretty neutral.

Osat still strong in general. All the while we get bombarded with daily Sony emails advising of the must-have 4K TVs and Monitors coming on strong for the big holiday push, as Imos stock flounders in low end of recent trading range, though on decent volume.

    Turtoro and Jam,

I entered the slaughterhouse earlier, held my nose, and bought some carcass @ $19.80, missed addtl. @ $19.62, but as we know the day is not over, and now price drops back below $1980. Seller keeps at it.

Did sell some Nov. 22 CCs of $32.50 Mu for over a buck to lock in the bounce, but focus remains on ChipMos' November announcements. Press releases, CC.

8150 Shorts may indeed indicate a positive for Imos, but it's still wait and see, what's new.

    KLAC +10%

    by jamcracker25 Oct 24, 2014 9:59 AM
royco royco Oct 24, 2014 9:48 PM Flag

Jam, Turt, Marnis , et al
Error messages continue with Yahoo, but worked around as well now. Guess we get what we pay for with Yahoo, which, without Alibaba, would have been toast for some time already.

KLAC walks The shareholder friendly" walk. Other similarly situated cos. which talk the talk, please take note.

As it is, IMOS up 3.7% for the week, but no one is happy, volume anemic, kept seeing stk range bound bet. Approx 19.75 and 20.75., 8150 similar, and nothing changed the holding pattern technically, let alone fundamentally with something like a shareholder friendly update. Guess the powers that be can hide behind the blackout argument, but that didn't stop some sellers from repeated bailing out.

Those fed up, adios, others' concerns are understandable, but outside of flat out failure to get this re-structuring completed near term, or another macro blow-up, there is still upside awaiting all stakeholders imo.
Patience, while being tested, still holds sway as the CC approaches.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Memory industry profit level re-affirmed for 2015 by Hynix.

SK Hynix says memory makers to focus on profits in 2015. Reuters
SEOUL (Reuters) - SK Hynix Inc said on Thursday that it expects the memory industry to focus on maximizing profits next year as opposed to growing market share, suggesting that industry conditions may remain healthy next year.

SK Hynix President Kim Joon-ho also said during a conference call with analysts that fourth-quarter DRAM chip shipments will likely grow by a mid 10 percentage rate from the third quarter, while NAND chip shipments would likely rise by a mid 20 percentage rate.

In the third quarter, SK Hynix said DRAM shipments rose by 7 percent sequentially while NAND shipments rose 26 percent.

    Jam,
Did not understand that to mean a buyback with certain effective date could not be announced, but in any event just saw I exercised a gluttony buyback, covering. $20.66 "trading" shares plus, @ $20.09, maybe back in too soon, (but November keeps beckoning as an opportunity.). Volume low while Naz retreats. Waiting to hear AMKR on Monday for industry-like guidance.

    OT: Himx
Liz, last night's confirmation of Google passing on Addtl buy of HDI caused and still causes 15% shr price drop. For reasons of caution I had sold some stk and calls 1st week of Oct. netting bet. $9,70 and $10.50,
Figuring I had passed up a pop if Google buys the Addtl. 8%.
Now Himx drops, pours through all technicals, and I recouped 1/2 of sold stk @$6.84 and $6.70, am prepared to continue in if price tests $6.50 or even it's 52 wk lows, but like David Einhorn mentioned yesterday re: Micron, (though personally always felt that was the classic example), Himax drop imo is a headline dip, over- reaction, as company has plenty of tailwinds with other customers, and why Should Google want to finance that.
BofA apparently sticking with same opinion:

"BofA/Merrill Lynch analyst Daniel Heyler reiterated a Buy rating and $10.50 price target on Himax Technologies (NASDAQ: HIMX) following the after-hours sell-off on news Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) will not exercise its previous purchase option to increase its share from 6.3% to 14.8%.

"Expectations from mgmt. and investors were set too high but materiality is small, Heyler said. "Google apparently doesn't need additional LCOS capacity and is unwilling to fund that of others. This is immaterial to our 2014E/15E, since Himax can readily fill its capacity with other customers."

Heyler maintains their bullish view of Himax’s core business and believe its LCOS prospects are improving.

He said Google remains committed to head-mounted displays (Google Glasses) and Himax remains its strategic partner. "So, we view this as a minor timing issue and by no means to be a lost business opportunity," he said. "

Let's see how IMOS can stay on track, 8150 did ok, would like volume to pick up, and stk price to firm up, tho
More doubtful than ever that SJ agreed to push BoD for a buyback announcement before 11/12 CC. Another missed opportunity, but what's new. The fundamentals and industry wide strength continue unabated.

As IBM'S Global foundries mess crushes its stock price, along with its Earnings miss, and the futures turn negative generally.

On another note, just read where MSFT is coming out with a smart watch. Apple is up pre-market, maybe MU, up pre-market, and others in the Dram and NAND space can be distinguished from the big chipmakers, as QQQ stays close to flat pre-market. SJ, do your people read this stuff? TIA (grin).

    Johnboy,
First, thanks for PR'S response, though neither forthrightness or transparency are their strong suits (understatement).

Second, I recall Marnis referencing "iriot" as someone less than an idiot, trust me, you were not
ever being referenced. They know who they are, have been on "ignore" for decades in this household.

So we sit and wait for such an obviously easy solution to the stagnating share price, but Southern Mao article reinforces strong business continuing, 8150 has decent climb on only a million shares, and parity by its lonesome provides a 25% pop. The steady holders on this Board and elsewhere have to decide when to be more "vocal", and realistically decide if it matters. Last night most Asian markets were up except Shangai and Taiex, didn't see this morning how they closed. I may still add to top off here if a re-trace does not show soon.
Right now it"s slightly higher than flat for the year, if that is not seriously undervalued, what is.

Cowen and Craig-Hallum's mean target: about $30 U.S., still agree with that until something changes, but the time value of money is a serious factor, due to macro risk imo. Still long anyway.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
