  • Multiple times Pfeffer added "or earlier" to approval date. "July 15 or earlier". If everything is finalized earlier, the date will be moved up. Of course partners want to see label---how the heck could you finalize legal agreements without knowing what you're agreeing to??? lol. morons on this message board trying to scare people out of shares. All you have to do is listen to the call IMO. 6-8 wks would be wonderful for "multiple firms" to finalize complex legal documentation. Wouldn't be surprised if it were a little longer to make sure all the t's are crossed and i's dotted. It was clear that they ARE in talks presently with potential partners and they will have to make a "choice". Seems like they are in the catbird's seat here and a good bargaining position with potential partners who may be chomping at the bit to get a piece of the action. Slides were very clear. There was ZERO NEGATIVITY in this call which surprised me after reading all the #$%$ on this message board. My mother is a type 2 diabetic uncompliant who doesn't want insulin due to the shots. She will be one beneficiary of an inhaled insulin method. Currently she is on metformin pills but docs have suggested insulin but again she doesn't want to inject insulin. The short case is hot air. Glad I decided to spend 30 minutes to listen to the call. June 13-July 15. That's all the time left. Early approval could happen any time in between which would accelerate partnership talks accordingly. RBC issued $16/share buy in response to the Goldman CC. Got out in front. Wouldn't be surprised to see another 1 to 2 Strong Buys issued tomorrow morning or in near future. Also mentioned that there were potential partners with respect to other uses of technology, i.e. pain, vaccination. You have a foundation method here. Safety & efficacy of diabetes first makes it easier to move forward with pain, vaccination, etc. Of course they are concentrating on Afrezza first. They have plenty of cash also.

    Is Merck going to?

It's not just a matter of "injectable" versus "inhalable", it's also a matter of simply EFFICACY. AFREZZA works better! Believe the pharma guy's post was deleted. He compared AFREZZA's kinetic profile to pen and concluded Afrezza's was MUCH better, meaning it should now become the STANDARD OF CARE for any doctor prescribing post-prandial insulin. In fact it could well be argued that prescribing a drug that is LESS efficacious and a worse kinetic profile is malpractice. As a doctor one has a duty to adopt the CURRENT standard of care. To not do so could constitute malpractice.

NO WAY. This was an orchestrated take down to hit stop losses and take away shares. Nothing else. Any news released before this happened is a planted SMOKE SCREEN. That's how greedy Wall Street works. Don't you remember all these folks got bailed out to the tune of Trillions of dollars? Socialized their losses on the backs of the middle class. But cry when it comes to taxes and regulation. YET, they cried hat in hand when all their leveraged FAILED MISERABLY. Morons. CAVEAT EMPTOR in the stock market.

the label is EXCELLENT and bargained for by MNKD. Funny thing is if you're a smoker, you're already screwing up your lungs, what the more could an innocuous particle do that cigarette smoke isn't already doing? What a joke! There are in essence NO RESTRICTIONS here. Wall Street knows it. They just want our shares. FAT CHANCE.

Mom is a type 2 diabetic. Uses metformin and I think glyburide but having tough time controlling levels. Unlikely ever to agree to using insulin due a needle. Just saying there is a need for an alternative to needles.

trading forty cents below $10.75 where it was before the intra-day FDA approval...don't look a gift horse in the mouth as they say. will continue to buy fist full until this reaches a truly fair valuation in light of its potential.

Just need a couple of big hedge funds to figure out the short squeeze potential here and put on the squeeze. A smart hedge fund would take advantage of this situation to the upside. Just buy up 5-10M more shares at market. The fuse is already lit. Bunch of cheats allowing naked shorting for all practical purposes. Shorting should be outlawed altogether, then a stock would reflect it's true value, not some artificially created value.

  • looking for $0.50 gap up and then continuous upside to high end of range. Shorts are up a creek. IMO.

Your financial decision of course but remember the pressure cooker analogy. Loan the shares, pressure is released. Keep them tight in your possession, pressure builds up. You can figure out the stock reaction in both events! :) All investors should move their shares into cash accounts not margin accounts.

  • that's a HOME. doesn't even take into account the offer and counteroffer time period before an agreement to purchase is struck. think about it...that's a house closing. would expect it to take at least 3 months to close a complex pharma deal.

FDA can release ANY TIME it wants to, PERIOD. I for one believe approval would be today, but after hours, not during trading session. Of course I wasn't sure, but when the stock was stuck at $10.75 had suspicions. Then when it went to $11.11, knew something was up but thought afterhours would be approval, but then it tanked, and thought it was short raid, it was trading so erratically I was paralyzed in terms of making a decision to buy in $8s...just wasn't sure how low these folks would stoop. PARALYZED. A part of me was sure it would rise back up. Have been through similar situations in stock market. This is RUN OF THE MILL biotech stock action. Corrupt, unethical, immoral, unfair...call it what you want, but that's Wall Street. Bunch of greedy bailed out idiot hooligans stepping all over each for dollars. Today's take away: APPROVAL! The runway has been cleared.

so sorry for your loss there. as many have said here, don't use stop losses no matter how low. The MMs got all the shares they needed to take MNKD to higher levels.

  • That's what management has said, and believe that's what MNKD is hammering out with one or more BPs. Would caution anyone one pinning hopes on a buyout. If it happens, great. Great to speculate about as well. But to actually believe a buyout will happen and invest on that notion is not supported by the evidence (what management has stated publicly thus far). Now with a commercial partnership I believe MNKD (and I believe management has so intimated--Goldman CC) will want to receive a big upfront payment for all development costs to date (somewhere between $1.8-$2.6B--anyone know the correct number?) Above that perhaps a 25% to 100% (just a guess) premium negotiated on top of those efforts as reward therefor. Imagine BP will purchase Afrezza supply from MNKD, be responsible for marketing Afrezza, and pay MNKD a percentage of the sales. Perhaps a first right to refuse a buyout (later). This would mean today's market cap would be justified by the upfront payment itself. Anything above and beyond, cut of profits, sales, other Technosphere licensing deals, would add premium to MNKD's stock price and market will reward share price accordingly (will depend greatly on how well market believes Afrezza will perform). There might be a special dividend payout depending on upfront payment to reward shareholders. Shorts would love paying this I'm sure. Sunday musings. Just thinking aloud. IMHO.

no kidding. just relax. you're trying too hard, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. take comfort in the following: pre-approval price: $10.75, post approval: $9.69. while they would like to try to convince people that approval has been built in, it wasn't and still hasn't been reflected in the stock price, regardless of market cap. also consider 70M shorts and untold Reg-SHO violations here. how can they sleep at night? wake up one morning and the stock is trading somewhere between $20 and $75. yeah the chart hasn't looked too good since approval, but overbought condition is now oversold. Technicals looking better for a sustained upward run to higher lows and higher highs. Finally, don't forget RBC's upgrade and target price of $16 which was post Goldman Sachs conference call. Something rang very legitimate about that upgrade but with all analysts and upgrades or downgrades, you don't know the underlying agenda. That being said: the ONLY inhalable insulin on the market, better pharmakinetics than current SOC, etc...understand the wide range opportunity and be invested in it.

    Partner Buying MNKD

    by jstokcton Jun 4, 2014 9:00 AM

In scenarios like this would imagine a partner buying a pre-negotiated stake in the company--maybe 10-20% at X price ($25/share?). This would give the company an investment in the company and participate in future stock gains in MNKD. So yes, they might be buying up shares now to reduce their overall cost basis in their final negotiated position. Makes a lot of sense to me.

  • This could be a big no brainer for Merck...just up the ante and buy the whole Mannkind kit and caboodle, $25B stock/cash offer using appreciated MRK stock. $10B cash + $15B in stock. Get the whole Technosphere platform in the deal. Merck supplies the insulin, so cost efficiencies right there...pays a subsidiary for insulin. Also gets all the carryover losses (~$2B) and tax benefits. Just do it Merck.

did you listen to the Goldman call at all? Hakan Edstrom stated specifically 6-8 weeks, Pfeffer said depended on lawyer's and was too pessimistic as such to state a date himself. ALSO, if you listed carefully there was a "TELL" that the talks were real and not invented as shorts would hope. He specifically changed the scope of the BP with respect to diabetes. It was deliberate as he was trying to be more accurate.

good theory. like your thinking. prior to MSFT/NOK deal there were hints that something was in the air...like a good investigator you are sniffing for clues...like the scene of a crime, clues are everywhere and you try to piece together the puzzle. NV Organo, the mfg facility that was not yet fully FDA investigated in 2010, is a Merck Subsidiary and provides the insulin for Afrezza, correct? Stock has swung down 25% from recent highs...that's a huge downswing and remains relatively unchanged, slightly higher, from its pre-ADCOM averages...entire stock market is manipulated for the gain of a few on Wall Street. Doesn't it make you wonder: 14-0/13-1 advisory committee recommendation. Prior to this event around March 19 it traded at $6.20 and post this event this Friday close it's at $6.22. The market has essentially wiped out the event altogether in terms of stock price. Gone, vanished...efficient market? B.S. A materially positive event has amounted to essentially nil. So if you're a gambler where does one place one's bet here? Can tell this. If a share was a bet, roughly 292M are betting against 68M. 4:1. You cannot hold back a tsunami.
