Black box, yeah, what you said is probably spot on. But, it has been repeated time and time again for many many years--at least over a decade--and it has made no difference except cost real investors waaay toooo much money. Geron management has always sucked. You can never go wrong investing in management rather than promises. Hey, I'm right on the bench next to you because of the Mayo, but I have lost a great deal on money on this Company over the years, and I really really hate them.
As the FOMC has the spotlight, and 90% of the time that isn't good. It's the summer ennui's, I suspect GERN management, researchers and news release writers are taking a well deserved break from their labors so, don't look for much from that quarter. The FDA panel is probably looking at posh resorts to jet off to and enjoy the peak of summer. The markets are starting to get as jumpy as I've been over the last 3 years.....so, gawd knows what that will bring. Will the FOMC continue their hard line on ending Taper in Oct.? Will the PMI this quarter scare the snot out of them and they'll continue to pour money into the trough for all the wall street swine to feast on? Will earthquakes take out Menlo Park?
It's hard for GERN to but out a material news release when they don't do anything material.
Whew, right now it seems that Geron is lost in space. Extremely quiet, investors really have no idea whether they are looking for 1 month or 5 months until they get an update on the State of Affairs between Mayo, Gern and the FDA. That is a tough vacuum to try and manage one's exposure in. No one that believes in the results seen thus far is very happy with the drifting down in Share Price. And, no one knows whether we'll revisit the $1.__ dollar level again. I guess I'd feel more confident about choosing to put a less than prudent portion of my portfolio if Chip hadn't been so blind sided --as evidenced in his response--by the hold.
so, a little more clarity on things
Hard to not blame them, but really the stupendous screw up here is GERN's divi/spinoff incompetence in execution and communication. Hard to believe they could mess this up as badly as they have. OTOH, I've not seen anything GERON has EVER done that wasn't compromised by incompetence.
Nothing out of the ordinary with investors exiting ex divi. Happens every time, but with GERN it makes for a sad tough ride, as management has done little to show they are engaged in building a company(rather than just collecting a pay check and having an office to go to every day) and trying to create wealth for the poor saps that have believed in them.
Yes, I can't argue against that. And poor management can kill a great company very quickly. If it weren't for the Mayo Clinic I would never have come back in on GERN. I guess we'll see if Chip can fumble a can't miss touchdown (hard to imagine) when it is handed off to him with a clear field in front.
Geron may well have decided not to do anything until the X divi date and spin off in order to not complicate things. We'll see, but, it's sad when the only encouraging information comes from one poster on a Yahoo BB (and without her, I would have abandoned hope months ago).
Ya, a hero in your own mind. You are on ignore.,
Yeah, it's Yahoo. Every board is like this. I long for the early days of Silicon Investor.... now, I'm stuck in the cesspool called Yahooooooo.
I unignored you to read this non-sense. You are back on ignore, after I finish this reply. You are a true Nutter!
I suggest you look to the future, rather than your mythical past construction of History. Because, the future is where we will all live and can do something about. Maybe, and I mean this as a helpful suggestion, you revisit you medication intake and make adjustments.
Well, it didn't help for Sen Warren to tear the Yellenator a new one over JP Morgan.
End, your history on price prognostications is simply terrible. But hope you are right.
Naw, it's just Algo's reacting to other Algos based on the Yellenator's comments of irrational exuberance in small cap biotechs. She could have picked a small group to pick on and things woujld be a bit different.
Yeah, you'd think they would have learned something with all the time and study they engage in. Paul Krugman is a poster child for this group of totally wrong headed academics. And, of course, just look at our President's foreign policy with all the academics he has had offering advice based on their studies. We've been dumbing down our population for 40 years, now we are seeing the fruits of that effort. But, I suspect you will continue to believe that we are in good hands with our current policy makers, which I sort of envy, as nothing I feel, say or do is going to make a bit of difference in the way the World turns and I'll just be PO'd all the time, whilst you will think things are bright and getting brighter.
Yes, Yellen is terrifying-- she is totally clueless and her moronic policy and comments can destroy the Western (corrupt) banking system. How that collateral damage extended to gold and silver today is still a head scratcher, but I'm sure it was a concerted effort with the various central banks and the FED. It is quite surprising that GERN got washed out to sea with the rest of the bios, but that is what happens when the World is run by computers.
Well, unlike high secrecy projects whereby Pharmas are testing and not wanting competition to know results, with the MC you have just the opposite. Rather refreshing, too. But, you have got to know that when their researchers get excited about results and potential applications that they are certainly going to get on the horn and spread the word to others.
I wouldn't be surprised. Four months in, Mayo data filed for their release. Also, I did a search on July releases from FDA holds in the past and it would seem that towards the third week in July is a time that has had a number releases. This makes sense after one considers the 4th of July Holiday, bureaucrats holidaying, forms being written, etc.
I don't have any idea what the bids and ask sizes are. In the world of HFTs I consider all that noise just noise and totally meaningless. Unlike the Canadian system, you can't see anything important in the US markets regarding bids and asks. We have one of the most corrupt order execution systems in the World.
