I agree with the above 2 posts...relax.....investors are nervous as usual..always something to worry about....a big correction will effect most stocks and if people think that they will sell anything without regards to the particular stock(BX)).....I had seen someone mentioned 43 cents as a dividend ..so 35 cents couldhave disappointed..Dont think BX will sell off Monday.. should move higher IMHO...of course the Ukanian situation is a factor...

  • I’m confident that ultimately our shares are going to raised to reflect real value of the company. One or two quick things I was on my treadmill this morning watching this analyst array of earnings results, which I am sure you have seen and somewhere around I think we set in a flag of BlackRock came out with it’s results and there are really good in the revenues were up 9% there earnings were up 20% to $762 million. And that was a really, really good quarter and there are paying dividend yields of 2.5%.

And I just bring to your attention that we announced a little bit later, our revenue was up 20% in our earnings was – were up 30% as supposed to their 20% and actually our earnings in this quarter were larger $814 million to their $762 million. The only difference is our market capital is only $35 billion and there is it was $53 billion, which is like 32% less. And we’re trading in a multiple of 10.2 and their trading it 17.

And our dividends only double at 5.6 according to analyst estimate. So, this is all public information, it always like come in over. And I was sort of watching it so, I think BlackRock is a great company. We revolve when they started, they have had terrific growth in their gold standard in the businesses that there are in. And I just wanted to point out that perhaps we’re not so bad either.

  • Blackstone's Earnings Rise 58% 04/17 04:55 AM

Blackstone Group LP (BX:$31.56,00$0.62,002.00%) on Thursday said its first-quarter earnings rose 58%, as the private-equity firm's buyout funds saw a fourfold increase in deal profits.
The New York firm reported a profit of $266 million, or 44 cents a share, up from $168 million, or 29 cents a share, in the same period last year.
Blackstone first-quarter economic net income was $814 million, or 70 cents a share, up from $628 million, or 55 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. That exceeded Wall Street's expectations for the profitability measure, which includes unrealized gains as well as cash earnings. Analysts polled by FactSet anticipated economic net income of 52 cents a share.
The results pushed Blackstone's shares, which doubled last year, up 7.4%, or $2.24, to $32.44 in premarket trading.
Private-equity firms seized on accommodating debt markets, rising real estate prices and the best stock market in 16 years to cash out of investments at a dizzying pace last year, pushing Blackstone and its rivals to record profits. Blackstone's first-quarter results show that gains reaped in those favorable conditions are spilling over into 2014 and bode well for competitors KKR & Co. and Carlyle Group LP, which are scheduled to report their own results later this month.
Asset sale proceeds continued to pile up during the first quarter as deals Blackstone struck last year were completed in the new year. Chief among them was the sale of south Texas oil fields the firm helped closely held GeoSouthern Energy Corp. develop and sell to Devon Energy Corp. That deal, signed in November and completed in February, returned Blackstone about $1.5 billion, or about five times its investment.
Blackstone's private-equity funds also sold shares in companies the firm previously took public, including oil refiner PBF Energy Inc., television ratings firm Nielsen Holdings NV and regional lender BankUnited Inc.
In all, Blackstone's buyout funds collected deal proceeds of $4.7 billion during the quarter.
That activity helped overcome dips in profits from Blackstone's real estate and credit businesses and a loss at its financial advisory segment. Blackstone's hedge fund unit topped its year-earlier gains.
Overall, Blackstone's funds returned $11.5 billion to its investors during the quarter. Despite those distributions, Blackstone said its assets under management rose 25% year-over-year to $272 billion. The increase was driven by $10.2 billion of new money that flowed into its funds from investors, which include pensions, endowments and wealthy individuals, as well as appreciation in the value of existing investments.
Meanwhile, its distributable earnings, the portion of profits in which shareholders can get a piece, were $485 million in the first quarter, up from $391 million in the same period a year ago. The firm said it would pay a dividend of 35 cents for the quarter, an increase from 30 cents a year ago.

Some investors are keeping a close eye on Wednesday’s planned listing of specialty finance company FS Investment Corp.FSIC 0.00% amid turbulence in the stock market.

FS Investment Corp. is a venture of Franklin Square Capital Partners and GSO Capital Partners LP, the credit arm of private-equity giant Blackstone Group LPBX +1.56%. FS Investment isn’t selling any new shares, but existing holders of $2.7 billion worth of private shares – largely retail investors who made purchases in previous private offerings — are free sell into the public market once the listing takes effect.

The company, which primarily lends to privately held U.S. companies, is expected to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “FSIC.”

Some analysts and industry participants see the listing as a sign of the maturation in the market for so-called business-development companies. Many participants are trying to attract larger investors to an industry that has long been the preserve of individuals.
