tell me this then, how have his picks held up over the last week and is one of them Sabanye (sbgl)
somewhere in between. Their gem is the Niobium mine. That will keep their costs lower as they count that as a positive against costs. That is, since they make money on that mine its profits help to reduce the cost for the gold mines. The value of the NIOBEC is probably between 1.5B and 2.0B so everything else is a bonus. Eventually this will show its head but how long can you wait...????
I think we are getting there time wise. Not at the bottom yet but people are and have been throwing in the towel. Only the strong miners will survive. Weak ones are getting washed out.
interesting. Do you subscribe to Cook's newsletter? I have thought about it but wanted to know of someone that did and found it valuable.
WW3? Are you kidding me. First off, it looks like you have just started to read the news. The middle east is always a disaster, ever since the last WWs when they were carved up by a biunch of western govts.
Gold rise driven by geopolitics is very short lived.
Last, gold rising isn't a sure thing. There might be another surprise leg down to shake out the die hards. ANVs cash flow is very sickly, they need to conserve or they need to start selling assets or both. They have gone through their stockpiles of the easy stuff, now they are into the hard rock and need a big time crusher(s). more capex that they don't have. So, they have good assets but they need to be able to monetize them somehow.
We "could see" $500 dollar gold or "could see" $6000 gold. go talk to your cat. I'm sure he will understand your drivel.
Okay, for those of you who haven't read the financials of this company. They have a good claim in a great mining jurisdiction but they need some financial help. They don't want to further dilute shareholders which would send the stock down even lower. The only thing they can do is to sell a stake in the company or they could get some streaming company which is almost the same thing. If they get this, the short fiasco will be over. There are so many shares short, and the company is sitting quite literally, on a gold mine. They need the money to finance the hard rock crushing plant to make it feasible. If you think they can do this out of CAPEX you need to read the balance sheet again, or at least once..
lets face it, inflation sucks for those that have been through it. Most on this board don't have any idea what I am talking about. Gold Miners could well out perform inflation as they did in the 70s. That is what I am counting on. Inflation is coming. If you try and time this you will get killed. But all of the signs are now in place. When CPI starts to show it, the horse is already out of the barn and crapping on the neighbors hayfield 2 miles away. But I digress, what does a crapping horse and inflation have in common anyhow? Well, let me answer that, the freaking horse will eat you out of house and home just like inflation.... there, am I clear? man do I need a beer.
In 3 years people will be saying I wish I had..... The problems with bargains is that they never look like bargains at the time. They look horrible. ANY has lawsuits, operational issues, and harder rock to mine. However, they also have gold in the most friendly mining districts and they have sizable proven reserves. Gold prices may get smacked down again but ANV still has plenty of room left to run.
the double whammy is coming..... Inflation is spiking. CPI and PPI are showing what we have all seen. Watch as we go into the fall. Once the infaltion genie gets out. Watch out. The entire 70s had programs to stop inflation. The FED is useless. Their "models" suk. Gold is going to scream due to the chinese hedge unwind, inflation, and demand that has outstripped mining supply for the past 2 years.
that isnt the MM's it is the HFT (high frequency traders). you cannot buy at the current bid with a limit. They see your bid coming, will test the mkt with 100 share bids and then take the bottom out so you need another .01 to get what you want. Done with all trades they make millions a day. Read Flash Boys. It will make your stomach turn.
There isn't a short problem here. If you want to see a real short squeeze coming go to ANV, they have over 40% of their shares short. They have been hit by a lawsuit and operational issues but shorts are getttting greedy. It is going to be a massive short squeeze. the days to cover is over 10. Get in now. It has already shot up over the last 2 days but nothing compare to what is coming.
This is partly what you saw today. This stock is going much higher and it should be quick. When everybody is on one side of the boat they want to get out.. This is currently 40% of float!! ....
threat of war only has a limited time upside response. Inflation however, I agree with you. PPI hit earlier and now even CPI is looking at 2%. Just wait, it is just getting started. Note how the miners are starting to move without gold moving... very interesting. Just the same, exactly opposite, as how the miners started to not move when gold went to its all time high. Miners are the leaders, not trailers as many think. The smart money helps to drive this. I learned the hard way (ie, I was dumb money)!!
Market maker? Are you from the 50's? This isn't the dow. MM are barely even visible these days and are almost wholly unnecessary.
There is no actual value attributed to it by the company. Just like any other mine, you don't say this mine is worth X and this other mine is worth Y. It is a formula based on the current value of Niobium, reserves in the ground, percentage of worldwide output, etc. The other factors are that you become a sole owner of one of only 3 top Niobium producers. This prevents a monopolistic advantage. So, doing the math, plus some guessing on what the premium would be for the extra rights of sole ownership, etc, the price looks to be between 1.5 and 3B. My take. 1B would be a crime.
I dug up an old article that stated IAG had considered listing NIOBEC on an exchange. Obviously it would have to be spun off with IAG being the major shareholder, etc. Could be another possibility
