The incompetence of this new management is appalling. It is time to bring back Steve Nassiri. Company was growing and thriving under his leadership.
the $15B buyback will reduce total share by 13.5% and increase earnings by 16% at current levels. Given current PE of 14, QCOM should be valued at $75 or higher.
The lower price works well for buyback strategy. Many on this board are prematurely worried about current lost socket for 810 at Samsung. QCOM has 820 as well as other products on their roadmap. Remember, that smartphone design cycles are every 9-12 months and QCom can get back into Samsung. They have also moved some manufacturing to Samsung so this should play in their favor as well. Samsung build a huge fab for Apple but did not get the business so they have to fill the fab and the reason for switching to internal solution.
I am more interested in their operating margins and cash flow. Invensense may have give up the farm in order to maintain sockets at Samsung and win Apple. I do not see them increasing their market share in smartphone and other existing Android devices. What is going to drive their future growth? OIS is interesting but will not add meaningful margins.
my brokerage firm does not allow a sell target price that is over 50% of current value (i.e. $24). Perhaps this is a way to counter your suggested strategy.
Does not surprise me at all. It is their quarterly ritual now and the only way to make the EPS numbers while increasing the bonuses to the executives! This leadership team as well as the BOD are going to sink the Maxim ship! Get out before it is too late.
Take it easy guys. There is too much drama on this board. BAC will issue $0.05 dividend and buy back $4B worth of shares. Their submitted plan is in affect till Q1 2016. The Fed request is for addressing few concerns of potential weaknesses and BAC will provide answers. This is the same Fed by the way who burdened BAC with a forced purchase of Merril Lynch. Stock is down $0.25 after hours (-1.5%). I would not call this a crash or reason to "jump off a bridge".
