i visited JCP in houston, tx last week end and I agree the store was clean, very well organised and adequately staffed. On the pricing while I saw some good deals on the bedding and curtains, the men apparel seemed overly expensive.
Another thing they have to get rid of this fair and square pricing MARKING strategy. I mean the price tags seem so sheepish when sale price is the same font as the suggested price and rest of the description. I think making it bolder would make it more appealing to holiday crowd. IMO
But JCP really needs to some hefty discounts, a clearance section in every aisle if they are serious about staging a come back. The only thing that is working in their favor is they are close to holiday season and should be relatively easy to drive up revenues.
Their Visa problem is not as simple as it seems. They filed 200 perms (Green Card applications) in just one month of june last year and all of them got denied. Now they are high under USCIS scanner and are undergoing supervised recruitment which slows the process tremendously. How will they survive without the foreign labor?
its the new distributors that get enrolled in either by their relatives or friends end up becoming the new customers. but i agree this chain would stop and then theres no place to go but downwards.
I have no postion in this stock but this thing is a sure fail. I hope people realize this before the big players rob them of all their money.
As far as share holders are concerned, you are right, in Herbalife Books a sale to distributers would be recorded as sale to consumer because the product cannot be returned.
From what I have read they lure lot of novice people inot buying this thing in hopes of making some money out of it and have it as a carrier. But like any other business only a few succeed and most of them fail getting stuck with 1000's of dollars of merchandize which either sits in the garage or gets sold @ pennis to a dollar on craigslist.
My sister once got scammed in one of these schemes (not with herbalife). Bought over $5000 worth of stuff, couldnt sell it. Glad it was cosmetics, she ended up using herself and gave as gifts to her friends.
So In my opinion, they are selling stuff alright, but by luring innocent people into buying their product in hopes of selling it and later getting stuck with it. I dont think its a good way to do business
Sentiment: Strong Sell
I am long but I am not too exited about the phone either. It may catch on, may be it won't. it all depends on marketing, like many have pointed out sometimes a good product fails if not properly advertised. They have to make absolutely sure they are marketing to their target customers. So we will see how the pre-order numbers comes out and go from there.
But I think there's a lot of meat in licensing the OS, and there will be lot of international players interested in it.
according to heins interview on WSJ carrier testing in US is what is holding them on which would take a few weeks
Thanks for the response. My mistake, I shouldnt have said doubling DOWN. I actually initiated my position at 14.28 and bought more at 14.01
but given the recovery in the housing market and the was BX is positioned I was wanting to double my existing position before the earnings call. But I didnt, I try to keep any one stock from getting to 20% of my portfolio.
good luck, btw your posts are funny. I always get a good laugh on the down days ;)
but it is in Canada. Unless you are saying theres a different operating system for US and Canada, launch in US has nothing to do with the operating system
Agree. I didnt expect big surprises at the launch but video conferencing is neat, specially for small businesses.
I think RIMM has lot of upside when its gets some big lisenceing deals for its OS.
I feel comfortable as long as Thorsten Heins is the CEO and watsa serves on the board.
I am thinking of doubling down my position before the earnings call if there's a slight pullback. Any advice??
Sentiment: Strong Buy
when your sentiment changes from 'denial' to 'rational' sell it. don't worry about the price.
I am planning on buying 1 for me and my wife. Touch interface is lot improved compared to storm. Hub is awesome. I prefer customization.
That said, I am not a big fan of apps. having used iPhone for last 4 years I might have used/bought 10 apps at most. That too mostly financial.
I love my iPhone too particularly iPhone5, much faster and retina display is amazing. but hey if BB has something better to offer I am all for it
when its up by more than 6% . I just dont understand why media does this so often
Sentiment: Strong Buy
