Patience..working thru the overbot technical conditions... there is a huge find adjacent to their acreage in Permian basin by another company...now it is for them to file the same report once they complete the drilling and well is tested for production/day for oil and how much gas reserves...then filing with Texas commission ...Patience... this one is worth 130+ imo. I own and will continue to do so...

NO deal until after the earnings IMO

Of course the suitor will get a peek of sorts before the official release... the announcement could be just right before that or concurrent as it has been the case with most deals in the past... on the other hand...if the numbers are not shaping up they would take a lower offer...if they know the numbers and outlook is strong and quite good...it is a 50/share number... technically it is less then 4 weeks away either way and not this week or next week.... bottom line... the company is definitely in play and wants to be sold... they had interest from a few suitors... the final decision is at what price... everything sells at a price...at some price... I have my doubts that RAX wants to walk away and see the market take it down to mid 20's...there will be too much pressure on mgt. to justify walking away...from an offer that does nto reward themselves and the shareholders..

  • RAX unwilling to sell below 50/share. To get that price RAX has to demonstrate excellent earnings and projections...so as investors we need to sleep until after Aug. 11th. NO deal will be announced before then IMO. So it is a wait and watch for now... either way..after the earnings...or slightly before that we get a nice pop or a huge selloff down to mid 20's...

    Selloff today on low volume

Look at open interest..not just volume today...look at july, aug, and all the way out ..including out of the money call options....i worked in this scam market for 28 years...know how these arbs and hedge guys operate... Little do you know how the media is paid to report and cause volatility as they build positions or unwind...the company does not have a CEO...nor have they appointed one....HP Whitman has made it publicly known that they will make an acquisition in this space....soon...imo it is just a question of reaching a sweet spot pricewise that RAX is willing to accept...wake up one morning and find a decent gap up to satidfy old shareholders who vote for the sale or a gap down because RAX devided to stay independant...

T, Pivotal, Csco, HP, Goog, ...and anyone else who is an endorser of open stack hybrid cloud...is a potential bidder imo...valuation is a non event when you see non revenue growth unpofitable companies selling at crazy prices in this market...

Look at the option activity when it comes to arbs and hedge fund players... insiitutional buyers have already built their position... sounds like you are short and skeptical on a deal... read the latest comment on Monday even by VL analyst... he is also indicating that business has bottomed and one should initiate position at this level... and he has NO Ibanker agenda..

  • so what's up now? yesterday it closed up on a down day...today it is down on an up day as such but on very low volume. HP at 43 seems to be the buyer that is emerging... wondering if RAX is going to hold out or squeeze for more and lose out?? forget LBO nonsense.. .OPCO, CSFB, VL...all positive on the buyout..so much for the mid 50's valuation...

APC getting the snot kicked out of it today

it is 'technically' overbought ...nothing else..so just some profit taking...stay long...

  • Neither source has any credibility..both rogues trying to manipulate the stock...maybe SEC needs to investigate both these media clowns...one is long and one is short...insider trading by both these guys...either way people acting and reacting to these two are fools... bottom line... RAX is up for sale and examining options thru Morgan Stanley..business is solid... stay long... let the shorts soil their pants...

  • sbdccmtc by sbdccmtc Jul 2, 2014 3:04 PM Flag

strictly overbot here..only reason for the selloff... if crude shoots up to 140+ because of trouble in Iraq....oil sector will explode before a huge selloff...in which case APC shoots over 130+ ..stay long ...Tronox troubles behind them..now a clean company to be valued on its own assets and production... activist investor and hedge funds still long this puppy...

  • RAX Pressured Following Dealreporter Article. The article indicates the
company was failing to draw interest from acquirers and compounds news
from a week earlier that IBM/Softlayer doesn't consider a Rackspace acquisition
"exciting." RAX fell 7% on Friday. OPCO: We see a 60-70% chance that a
deal gets done. The timing appears right, but we don’t know what RAX is
thinking in terms of valuation (we have thought ~10x '15E EBITDA). RAX has a
unique services model with sticky customers. Further, we think the premise of
the Dealreporter article is questionable since RAX hired investment bankers to
evaluate proposals after it had been approached by multiple parties. Potential
buyers could be a carrier or for one of the major public cloud providers, but it
isn't clear at the moment. Regardless, we do think business fundamentals are
improving and the stock is cheap at ~6.5x '15E EBITDA.

and BTW..at least IMO...everything sells at a price... do you think investment bankers do not have a motivation to earn big fees on a sale especially these days when you have valuations thru the roof for new companies and IPO's of start ups at ridiculous valuations???? ....GO Pro ? Uber ? and here you have a company that has a client base, profitable and growing....hmmm...

Are you short the stock? if so I completely understand your response...after market it is up 61 cents... did you know the weekly options expired on Friday also... and YES..I still do believe they have a suitor called HP in the wings who has made a huge committment to Open Stack platform.. btw they are setting up the cloud for FB...it is a sizeable contract...

  • why the selloff on huge volume today? did the company terminate Morgan Stanley as I bankers and decide to stay independant? anyone? any ideas? so what about T, GOOG, CTL or HP buying them? any information out there?

    Sentiment: Buy

If the BV is 45..most banks like BPOP sell for 1.5x book. Patience...this is a turnaround story... fair value is at least high 50's to low 60's...Value Line pegs it at 75 bucks...breathe...

  • Rackspace Hires Investment Bank to Evaluate Strategic Options. The
company reportedly made the hire following faster than expected price reductions
from Amazon Web Services and Google in late March. According to RAX's 8-K,
the company has been approached by multiple parties who have expressed an
interest in some type of strategic partnership or acquisition. The company stated
the board decided to hire the bank to evaluate inbound strategic proposals and
to explore alternatives that could advance RAX's long-term strategy. OPCO: The
end result of this process could be an acquisition, which wouldn't surprise us as we
have long considered RAX a target. We believe HP could be a likely suitor given
their mutual commitment to OpenStack and the technology and service hole RAX
could fill. We don't see an acquisition happening for less than around 10x '15E
EBITDA or in the low $50's but wouldn't be surprised if it was in the mid-$50's, or
around 11x '15E EBITDA, which is more in line with precedent transactions.

And, What Might Rackspace Be Worth? Terremark and Savvis were acquired
    for 14x and 10x forward EV/EBITDA multiples, respectively—similar multiples
would imply Rackspace valuation at $43-$60/share. At a minimum we would
expect Rackspace to garner a premium to the datacenter colocation
EV/EBITDA average multiple of 10.9x, implying above $47/share.

Rackspace Hosting (RAX)-The web hosting company has hired Morgan Stanley to help it evaluate buyout overtures that it has received from multiple parties, as well as other strategic options. Rackspace said no decision has yet been made on any of those alternatives.
