    Too BIGGER To Fail

He also took this time to recycle a comment he's decided he likes--though he said he just looked up the new figure today--that newspapers pay higher levels of revenue to employees than banks do. "Newspaper people, can you wake up for one second? You all are obsessed with this ratio...it's a stupid ratio, by the way," Dimon said before calling the pay at newspapers "outrageous" and adding " And worse than that, you don't even make any money."

    This should move DLIA

I do not get this stock. Was told a certain investor is known for pumping up to his so called friends and then selling the day or few days. This person has a bad reputation and is not helping matters. With that said, poor turn out from the ICR activities and thus professional investors look to be passing on this one. With over half the marketcap in cash I am amazed the company is not buying their stock hand over fist, poor message to us shareholders.

  • one decent question on the call and that was with $5 per share in cash why is the company not buying back stock. what should have been asked is why should i buy stock, when scvl is trading at a 20% discount to peers if the company is not willing and if the outlook for fy12 is promising based on compares, door growth, etc. then todays valuation seems compelling unless they see the business getting worse than what was indicated.

Management wants $3/share in cash before buying stock. That is stupid to want such a huge amount of cash before buying and suggests to shareholders that at current prices CROX is not a good buy. Need a change agent and the board should act or maybe someone will come in and make the change that is needed.

    Investor Event and Guide Update

    by scdevildog Oct 25, 2011 5:12 PM
scdevildog scdevildog Oct 25, 2011 11:35 PM Flag

So let get over that the Q3 update is a bit soft, which they are basically saying 1.05 (mid point) vs. 1.07 street but the comps and year are all ok. You can look at this a couple of ways. 1 - current trends are not leaning to beat the prior guide or street expectations for the quarter. 2 - considering the current environment and a warm Sept/Oct, TJX is doing fine and the year is thus intact. What concerns me is the fact that we get thrown a curve and now tomorrow "investors" are going to get a chance to drill down. Anyone get this invite? So we will be running blind and get some crumbs after analysts dribble out the details over a couple of days. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • Well as an investor I did not get an invite and now we get an update on guidance, which clearly the market is taking negative after hours. Must be nice to attend a meeting for "investors" that there is no press release or invite. THANKS.

BODY getting Clobbered in AH...what the?

    by terintiger Aug 11, 2011 4:54 PM

BODY is held by a lot of the NY retail Hedge Fund mafia and other fast money players. Just look at the holders. Likely needs a more stable base of investors as the company grows. Based on the call there did not seem to be anything wrong. Keep in mind an in-line guide right now is like a raise, considering a lot of numbers are coming down right now. You all so could have seen a investor or group expecting better numbers on the guide and now are blowing out their positions.

Worst earnings call presentation I have experienced in my 15+ years and there is no roadmap to driving shareholder value. The best part is we are being told to wait 30+ months.

    HOW is This Company................

    by flkys Jul 25, 2011 3:03 PM
scdevildog scdevildog Jul 27, 2011 9:25 AM Flag

Here is what I have learned.

Sell side analysts have been negative on the sector and calling for demand slowdown and negative outlook and have seen slower pick-ups.

There has been a void of news so the group BOX, TGH, TAL, CAP all got sold off 20% or more. Now CAP reported this morning and was ++ and this should shore up the group, will see. CAP beat estimates and saw + sale on used containers and customer pick ups were accelerating vs. sell-side notes implying slow down. Based on outlook, CAPEX increased i.e. demand view.

With BOX heavier on the REFER side this should offer more insulation than the group. CAP is indicated up 6% pre-mrk so should be good for BOX and the group.

    News? Why the Drop?

this makes no sense and agree if an update from the company should have been made a few days ago. i spoke to one person that has a lot of money in box and runs a small fund and he put a request into management but did not get a response. he likes the company and stated management was positive on this year and can not figure out why this stock continues to tank. his concern is the stock has broken down and investors are just dumping with no clarity and if the next quarter or guide is bad then credability will be gone and the stock will be black listed. very troubling move down to say the least and not sure if i can hang a around. good luck.

    CEO's Speech @ UBS

The bonds in question are second in line from what I understand and doubt the land is worth enough to cover the B bonds but then again who knows. I would not be surprised if the SEC and possible the DOJ get involved with this. A Director of Penson, while an officer of the company that leveraged the bonds via Penson. On what valuation grounds? My understanding is there is a lot of questionable things that went on and wonder how far down the rabbit hole goes. I have seen this before, this is Act I Scene I.

Now I know why IR blows off the small investor when you call in vs. the rumor of select disclosure to the big funds in Boston (ie select disclosure). Very interesting and will never touch this stock until there is a change in which the company funnels communication.

    why is the stock down??

Agree. NKE said + thinks on future orders and even mentioned FINL on their call. Stock is less than 14x NYE (which will likely be revised up) with $4 in cash per share. Could fast money dump trading profits tomorrow, maybe but this is going higher based on valuation.

Its excluding the business they sold which is likely above consensus since it was never adjusted. Keep in in mind they are picking up $5.44 share in cash and will should be more profitable.

Anyone have a thought as to why BOX is trading down big today. I thought the reports that came out on BOX yesterday were positive and not sure why the analyst feel BOX should trade a discount to its peers.

This guy is pretty well respected on wall street and may help you on your bon-ton question. Bon-ton is a sleeper long term and agree with this article, if there is a pull back it may be worth adding more. http://seekingalpha.com/instablog/608607-mellon-martin/103097-retail-near-term-pressure-was-expected
