i was thinking the same thing...but wouldnt they have done that earlier in the day?
One thing good about posting trials, studies, collaborations, etc., is it informs retail investors who might visit this board about events going on that are not readily accessible through normal search avenues.
Im not advocating unrealistic pumping nor misinformation driven bashing but the post above by Jackdaw has some interesting information that broadens the discussion beyond the current clinical trial and informs John Q. Public that there is more to Imetelstat and the success of this company than is commonly known.
Pass a couple more studies in the 1 - 2 years and the company starts generating some major income that the shorters won't be able to cast doubt on... Add to that combo'ing the drug with J&J's own oncology drug (what a pleasant coincidence that the company GERN went into business with also happens to make a drug very complementary to Imet) as well as other drugs in different cancer situations and it could be a blockbuster. But all of this is speculation and speculation is something Chip cannot promise. So far the company has produced a drug, found remarkable success and partnered. There is still a lot more to do before the haters go away and the pps rights itself.
there has been a steady release of press releases. not that kind of #$%$ hype a some companies put out, but releases related to actual developments -- very positive developments that the same leader you decry for not being a cheerleader has created and sealed the deal on. I understand your frustration that the share price isn't higher and is suffering an onslaught of incredibly determined sharters...shorters...but long run, this stock appears to be gold...we just have to wait those people out.
Seems likely that new CP/PR/CI numbers will be out soon (early 2015?) new studies will start up mid 2015, there will be conferences, fast track status...
but "Chippy" can't just shoot off his mouth, he has to be careful and determined or else invite the kind of lawsuits, for everything and anything, that has plagued GERN in the past. When he says something, it has to be done.
Give me examples of what you would like Chippy to say, stuff that has been said but you felt it should have been handled better, or stuff that wasn't said but should have been? Maybe that will convince me. Because honestly, the only company that I have been invested in that released press statements of the kind you infer you would like to see was Invivo led by Frank Reynolds and his constant pumping in the press made me so nervous I sold all my shares. Dude was a real snake oil salesman. I prefer a company with a little more dignity and restraint.
We also have to look at this company critically -- where are we at? It has been in existence for what -- 20? 25 years? And it's most consistent product so far has been disappointment. Now it's on the verge of finally becoming successful, but still has a lot of doubters who short the hell out of it against seemingly imminent triumph. It has signed a deal with J&Js Janssen division, which has not merely calmed long term holders fears, but demonstrated long term promise in it's only drug candidate, Imetelstat. Pass a couple more studies in the
management doesnt control what the short interest does and if they had nothing better to do than combat day to day trade swings, then I would agree they were mismanaging the company.
rather than getting in to pump, it would be much better if more people got in and bought.
serious dumpage going on...borrow and dump...borrow and dump...repeat repeat repeat...
who was the guy that said his broker told him there were no more shares left to short? that dude needs to get a new broker.
Obvioulsy, the short would like nothing more than to have this under $3 at the end of the day and blow out any margins and cause margin calls. their strategy is a gift. buy buy buy.
there is no bad news. short sellers are making their run to get out. and yes, i realize you are a short seller and im telling you what you already know.
I'd say Mayo results, ASH 2013 and the deal with J&J was the most to have changed in the last 13 years...at least in terms of good things to have happened.
not an agent. someone else said the deal was made but they have yet to sign the papers. i just took them at the word. obviously, that was a mistake.
...think ill grab a beer now.
if i can, i am going to try and abstain from this board and checking the price of GERN for a year...lately ive been checking like every fifteen minutes...NOT HEALTHY!!!
