Re: Final inspection - any idea when? URZ has been very quiet about this.
We will need good solid development from URZ to move pass $1.80. If no news by April, watch out the bottom.
*** Looks like a prelude for Japan to restart some nuclear power plants this year ***
The policy chief of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party says the government hopes to decide on a new basic energy plan by the end of March.
Sanae Takaichi made the remark during an NHK television program on Sunday.
She said the LDP pledged during its election campaigns to prioritize the safety of nuclear power plants. She said her party also promised to do everything it can to create a suitable environment for restarting reactors when the Nuclear Regulation Authority confirms their safety.
She pointed out that the Japanese economy is recovering, thanks to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's initiative known as "Abenomics".
Takaichi said that if stable supplies of electricity cannot be secured for a reasonable cost, companies will avoid Japan and people's daily lives will become more difficult.
She said Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Toshimitsu Motegi is expected to submit the draft of a new energy plan in about one week.
She said the ruling parties will discuss the proposal and make a final decision by the end of next month.
Some lawmakers from the ruling parties said greater use should be made of renewable energy. Others said a plan should be drawn up to completely phase out nuclear power.
MOS has agreed to buy from Cargill family trusts 8.2 million shares of Class A stock (in addition to the previous purchase agreement). This repurchases are included under the $1 billion share repurchase announced by MOS few days ago.
The transactions are structured in two tranches;
(1) First purchase, approximately 2.4 million shares, was completed yesterday (2/14/2014), at $46.43 per share.
(2) Second purchase 5.8 million shares is scheduled for 3/17/2014.
All good news for remaining shareholders.
For what ever it's worth, a Japanese friend told me that Morihiro Hosokawa isn't popular, too old and unlikely to win.
Thanks, you've pointed out a few interesting points that I've missed.
I know which one I will be adding next.
Thanks again for your insightful comments.
What's your take on DNN versus URZ?
I've positions in both names and trying to decide which one to add.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to provide your insights.
Thanks for the encouragement, I will hold just a bit longer but it's getting harder to hold this name.
Meanwhile, my uranium plays (CCJ, DNN, URG, URZ, etc) are paying off and I want to have additional dry powder ready to deploy to this sector. I'm all in as soon as Japan decides to restart their nuclear power plants. The supply and demand picture looks very favorable to all the uranium miners and all this sector needs is a catalyst to get it moving and IMO the Japanese restarting their power plants will be that catalyst to ignite this sector. Lots of institutions/mutual funds/big money are buying - Hugh volume and up even in down market last few days.
If you've not already so, I would strongly suggest to you to check out the uranium names.
I'm new to FRMO and I am not an accounting expert. I find this company very interesting but having a difficult time deciding if its fair value or not. Of course, I intend to add more if the market offers an opportunity (i.e. lower price) and for the past many weeks, I observed that its trading range is between $6.50 to $7.00. It bounced back up very, very quickly as soon it drops below $6.50 and yet there is insufficient buyers to push the price much higher nor for very long. I suppose there isn't sufficient number of outstanding shares for most traders to be interested. May be a listing on Nasdaq will improve but no idea whether or not management has any intention to do so.
With potential new financial products coming to the market from Horizon Kinetics, even with moderate success launch I can only assume profit will keep on increasing. From that view point, I think FRMO has great long term prospect. May be I shouldn't be too worry about the short term price movement and just continue to add to my position on any weakness.
What's the best multiple to apply to FRMO? May be this is a wrong question all together, is price/book value or another matrix a better approach to evaluate this company?
This message board does not have much of any discussions about this company and I hope someone out there reading my posting, who is knowledgeable about FRMO and be willing to offer some ideas.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Disclosure: Long FRMO
I wouldn't mind waiting it FPP is paying a dividend. It's tiring with absolutely nothing's happening to the stock price nor on the SALES front. It's like everyone has just gone to sleep with my investment doing NOTHING while there are plenty of actions elsewhere
Is this calm before the storm or time to bail?
URZ is running out of stream short-term since yesterday price action is a bearish doji star.
IMO without positive production starts, it's difficult to propel the price higher. Potential Japanese restarting their nuke plants has most likely been priced in already.
However, I'm adding if it comes back down on any weakness.
I feel sorry for people had their stop-orders between $1.22 to $1.25 and their shares got taken out by someone(s) who knew how to "play" the market. Now that their shares are gone at a low-low price, URZ is back up and most likely will continue to climb higher when production commences in next few weeks.
I'd a limit order and never imagined it would get fill but it did. Lucky me but unfortunately it's a small quantity. I've since placed another limit order for a much bigger quantity and hoping for a repeat. Of course, I need to cancel if the tide has turned or URZ encounters problems during production ramp up.
Wonder how many of you on this message board are employing this strategy or other approaches (care to share?) to pick up shares at "cheap" prices?
I've throttled back on URG (but still holding a position) and thanks to the bulls/promoters from Lazarus Investment Partners, Terry Macbeth Company, et al, I've deployed my profit to URZ.
I agreed with you and Barry regarding the timeline; patience will be a virtue here. My biggest position in the Uranium play is in CCJ. Use my play money to speculate on DNN, URG and URZ. Of course, I'll be adding more URZ when Mr. Market allows a better entry point.
Much appreciated and thanks for your insights.
To all the URZ-long on this message board:
Even though URG has moved up +15% today; which company URG or URZ has better potential in the medium or long term?
Disclosure: Long URG and I'm considering adding to URG or starting a position in URZ.
Well, being knowledgeable and hindsight are 2 different things. IMO you will come out a winner because your thesis/reasoning about POT is sound but it might take sometime for it to play out. Meanwhile, you can collect the nice dividend while you wait and I hope you're adding to your position with the recent decline to average down.
Honestly, I took a position in favor of MOS in-lieu of POT. I put heavier weight on my decision base on the coming shares repurchase from the Trust. CAPEX will likely have to be reduced (may be it's a good thing in the short to medium term) and I think MOS can handle the increase in debt load, if required, in the current low interest rate environment. With number of shares reduction, EPS will go up nicely and that should be good for share price down the road.
Nevertheless, I appreciated your insightful comments regarding their individual merits and I'm seriously thinking about adding a position in POT as well.
Unlike so many others on this message board, you have provided your comments like a gentleman.
Thanks and wish you a Merry Christmas.
I learn a lot from you today and no doubt you're by far the most knowledgeable on these 2 names than others on this message board.
Thanks very much for your insightful comments.
You took my follow-up question right out of my mouth; please explain your reasons in favor of POT over MOS.
What's your take on MOS versus POT? If only one name is allowed which one is best; MOS or POT?
