  • Dave Zien known for defending motorcyclists' rights, and cruising the country with patriotic flags hanging off the back of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle for millions of miles had a warranty claim denied for a failed clutch on his new HD trike. HD claimed the flags caused his clutch to fail in just 15K miles one his 2 month old bike. Didn't matter he had rode his 1991 HD over a million miles with similar flags, and yes 1 million documented miles.

I had been thinking of getting a new HD, but after seeing this, forget it. Old one has dragged a trailer all over the country and it's still got the clutch that came with it, and I am sure that trailer puts a lot more load on the clutch than this guys flags. Also since I can't be assured of getting any warranty out of a new HD since they may claim anything from me being to big for the bike, or too small for a reason to reject warranty claim, so why bother with new if I can't trust getting warranty service?

    Sentiment: Strong Sell
