Unfortunately, with these great results, I am unable to accumulate much more at those recent bargain prices. I'm going to do a cash flow valuation based on the new data to see where this values out.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Spindletop Oil and Gas earnings are out right on schedule.
    Financials are *extremely* good.
Record revenue of $13.5 million for the year. Q4 was fantastic… far better than my expectations. Over $1.4 million in net income for the latest quarter… That is also a record quarter!
Record profit of $0.51 per share for the year.
The company is worth about $6 per share. SPND has $28.2 million in assets and no debt. Currently SPND is very undervalued. It is not often that you find a company this undervalued. I think we will get to $6 per share and beyond this year. If oil goes up to more than $100 per barrel, we could see the stock at $8 to $10 per share.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

10Q is here and finanacials are very good. Very strong results from SPRS. Revenue was stronger. Increased by 20% compared to the prior year’s Q1. They are winning bids. Taxes were higher for Q1 of this year. Cash flow from operations was very strong at $729,000 for the quarter. Company is very healthy. Balance sheet is better than prior year. Looking great. This stock is really undervalued. $1.50 per sh is reasonable.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

I have just read through the Def-14A form (proxy form) as we will all need to vote before May 14. As a shareholder of this company, I definitely plan to vote. This is the chance for shareholders to voice their opinions.
    Proposal 1:
Two candidates from the Board are up for election (the CEO Fallon and the CoB Hooshmand). The bylaws state that the two out of these two candidates that get the highest number of votes will be elected, so you might as well vote NO on these two directors since they will each be elected by a plurality of the votes no matter what you vote. Unless the bylaws are modified or someone other than the Board nominates directors, the rest of us have no legal impact on the election of directors.

    Proposal 2:
Ernst & Young have done a quality job and I would approve vote YES on them to continue on as Company auditor.

    Proposal 3:
If you feel that CEO should have about 1.5 million per year in total compensation and directors should get 150 thousand, you should vote NO on this, because the CEO is receiving 3.0 million if you approve this and the directors are will continue receiving 300 thousand per year. Vote on this based on what you think is fair.

    Proposal 4:
Right now, Infinera allows 1% per year additional shares to be sold at 85% of market price as employee stock purchase program (ESPP) shares. This proposal would approve a lump 7.5 million shares that can be available for employee stock purchase plan. Slightly more than 1% could be purchased in a year when the price is low, but the ESPP is limited per employee so it wouldn’t be likely to be more than 1.5% per year. This is reasonable and avoids the issue that sometimes employees set aside money to purchase ESPP shares but the shares are not available. It is not a big factor, but I would vote YES on this proposal.

    Don't forget to vote!

Looking good. Tangible net assets are now over $22.6 million. The results through Feb 2014 are profitable and looking very good going forward.
Great to have a progress update. The move to Buffalo Bolt Way went well and production levels just started to improve in the last month of the quarter (February). Backlog is now at $18.5 million (much higher than the $11.7 million of prior year at this time). Feb 2014 quarter revenue are already higher than the Nov 2013 quarter revenue. Looking very good! Revenue and profit are better than I had expected for Q3. We may see a +50% to +100% increase in pps this year from TAYD.

Argan earnings are here. Net income was $40 million for the year (significantly better than prior year).
For the 4th quarter, net income was $9.2 million (significantly better than the $6.6 million of the prior year’s quarter).
AGX is growing. And their backlog is growing, man oh man is it growing! Gemma’s backlog as of January 31, 2014 was $790 million compared to $180 million as of January 31, 2013.
This company will likely hit $40 per share within a year.

New results from the latest 10-K are now available to stock screeners. The Company has increased earnings and improved balance sheet. They are now earning over $1.1 million per year. Enterprise value is going to head over $10 million. When this happens the company will be trading at a share price of over $16 per share. It is an extreme bargain, and probably in a few months I will be kicking myself for not having bought more.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • There are two directors who are up for election this year. They are about to get their comeuppance. Both have been on the Board for over 8 years and hold fewer than 5000 shares (psaawh!). One of them is the Chair of the compensation committee (Scheriff). I will do my part to see that both these folks get an embarrassing number of NO votes:
    Kenneth M. Scheriff
    Mitchell A. Solomon

Does Richard the Ravager think he is running a multinational $1 billion company?

Hah, then why did Wal Mart have to file an amended 10-Q on Oct 21, 2013 ?!? Why did it take 3 weeks after the original for Wal Mart to get back into compliance?

The real estate for the Mercer Crossing land is valued at $24.5 million
The Notes and interest receivables are valued at $28.9 million and are from Unified Housing Foundation various securities. These are covered in Note 3 of the 10K.
The Receivables and accrued interest $39.2 million for which you are asking are discussed in the 10K. TCI owes $39.2 million to IOT (it includes a $17.9 million note assumed from the acquisition of a majority ownership of IOT in 2009 plus accrued interest of $3.4 million and $17.9 million of obligations purchased from the Advisor Pillar). For the year ended December 31, 2013, IOT received $0.8 million in interest income on the amounts owed by TCI. In addition, for the period ending December 31, 2013, IOT paid $3.1 million to TCI pursuant to the tax sharing agreement described in Note 8.
The tax sharing works out to benefit the shareholders. They have weathered through tougher times than these. The Board has set up the tax sharing and it is implemented and executed by Pillar under the Board’s approval.

Yes, ITI is an undiscovered, growing, profitable company that may not be so undiscovered too much longer as it probably soon heads over $3 per share. Nice article in Seeking Alpha this afternoon.

Ah, yes, good to meet up with you again.
UVE that was and still is a really good investment. Glad to hear you have done well too there. I don't know what the folks were thinking who were giving it to us around $3 per share. :)

    As for your question:
Indeed, insiders have a majority of shares. They also have a reputation to protect. Fortunately, this is not China. We have a court system where investors can have their arguments heard and an impartial verdict given (or at least a process and a system that makes best attempt at impartial verdict and justice). The law requires that such offers must not be misleading or deceptive and that, in most cases, key information be disclosed, including an evaluation of the fair value of your investment.
The insiders could make a tender offer, however, I have my price that I will sell at and other shareholders do too. I can tell you that if the offer is for $13 per share or lower, the insiders will not get my shares. I’ve been through these take-private deals before. The insiders know that trying to take IOT private at an unfair price would probably be more costly to them than to take it at a reasonable/fair price.

That news you recently sniffed around on the Deutsche Bank (Note 10 and 14) has been public since February. The company has been making progress. Gold stockpiled by Petaquilla is at 151,592 ounces, an increase of 31% compared to same quarter of fiscal 2013.
Currently, Petaquilla has a $100 million contract with First Quantum Minerals Ltd.
As of Feb 14th, Auramet. Is offering a better purchase price than Deutsche Bank.
Petaquilla has great connections and management. It is not just a two-company interaction. You will likely see a large spike up as this uncertainty gets resolved.

BHE is doing quite well. Growing as more companies are desiring to do manufacturing in the US. Profit is now over $100 million per year. Benchmark is showing are strong results. The only Texas company I like more than this one is Income Opportunity Realty (IOT).

    Sentiment: Buy

  • Congrats to longs. I should have been buying more. CZBS is growing nicely, the balance sheet looks more firm every quarter. Net income is up 75% higher than the prior year. Intrinsically the company is conservatively worth over $25 million. Yet, there are only 2.2 million shares outstanding. I could easily see this stock over $11 per share this year.
    Nice!

Income Opportunity Realty (IOT) has posted their 10K today. The company is doing tremendous. Net income for the quarter was $4 million higher than in the prior year’s quarter. They posted $3.6 million or +85 cents per share for the quarter. The company’s properties have been undervalued, and now the true value is starting to come clear. IOT has valuable properties and valuable receivables. Interest income on the receivables is rising. Receivables are worth more than listed on the balance sheet. Management is very sharp. As sets (remove the space as Yahoo I had to add it as Yahoo otherwise seems to block the a double s) are now listed as being worth $94 million and total liabilities are only $12.6 million. This is a 7.5 ratio, best in the company’s history! Net as sets are 81.2 million. If you divide among the stable 4.2 million shares outstanding, this implies the company is worth $19.33 per share even just trading at book value, but the company is bringing in strong profits as interest income is strong. Income from continuing operations before tax was $8.6 million. Assets are still undervalued. It would be reasonable for IOT to be trading closer or beyond its intrinsic value of $96 mil or $23 per share.
    Beautiful.

[Yahoo is refusing to post my full messages so I have to break them into pieces, sorry] The balance sheet now shows net tangible asets of 32 mil. This is quite an improvement. Revenue has grown significantly. I see the co. as being at least 40 percent undervalued.

There are only 3.7 million shares of stock outstanding.
Pneumatic tools are in high demand. New construction and rebuilding (for both commercial and residential) are starting to pick up. In my area, there is increased activity in building. I would not be surprised to see 12 dollars per share for PFIN later this year.
