market makers do have unlimited powers with thinly traded stocks such as EDAP. If the street is convinced and decides to roll the dice then MM power is diminished. EDAP is a healthy stock with good numbers but another FDA approval should be the last shot in the arm for a possible breakout. I sold 25% of my holdings in the 4.40 range but kept 75% for the breakout. I will buy if it tests the 2's with a loan from my mom, uncle and credit cards. Hope I don't lose my shirt.
When I asked my Urologist about EDAP, Sonocare etc. He said (mind you this is ONE person)
"laser is the technology for now. HIFU could be the future. Also $$ costs have to be considered. "
So here is my take....
Given that MOST if not EVERY PR is followed by a temporary drop in stock price I think the street is saying give me a PR with meat. When I say street please consider that this stock is not a bell weather and has limited exposure.
I think those that follow this stock want documented revenueas it seems they are not willing to speculate on the future potential of this technology.
Very important countries politically and culturally but in terms of health or military spending all the countries combined make up a fraction of the U.S. medical or military budget.
very rarely does management proposals get shot down by Yahoo message boards. The bigger shareholders usually have the last word. I was torn in how to vote- On the one hand I don't like dilution on the other they need to motivate people with incentives. I decided to abstain and not vote and hope more informed and relevant voters would make the right decision for me.
There is some truth to what you are saying but I don't think it is a complete and accurate statement.
1. There has been sales which wasn't too shabby. Is there more sales in the peline? I don't know but they will announce it like they have till now. We did get the approval right around the corner from a in a major correction but two major research/medical institutions purchased right after approval. I don't know much about Sylvester but the U.S.C. medical cnenter is big not nearly as big as U.C.L.A..
but big. (I'm a Bruin)
2. I don't see a single medical device peer down 50 freaking % AFTER the biggest news in years. Check the chart for Mankind (MNKD) who got approval for inhaler insulin. FDA approval is not a guarantee to success but marketing and sales is important. EDAP like most French companies have a different culture on marketing and need to hire a good PR firm because they are not the best at it. i do like the fact that they don't B.S. too much.
We have been 20% above 5 on the merits of the stock alone. Why would I be in favor of selling at 5? Any takeover bid less than 10 to 15 would be a rip off. I think the stock has good momentum and potential. Why the street ignored EDAP so far baffles me, but if Wall Street did the obvious we all would be rich.
"We expect Sylvester Center Urology Department, headed by Dr. D.J. Parekh, will become the training and proctoring center for Ablatherm HIFU in the U.S.”
I was concerned about training with headquarters in France but this does resolve an important issue and networking among learning institutions is light years ahead of the private sector.
shooting for the stars with takeover ........ chances are about the same as that 1.3 billion lotto I'm playing
