This would set a dangerous precedence and perhaps the IRS may try to decide it to can tax the profits of a US based company at US tax rates for dollars overseas. Would Microsoft then decide to relocate into a foreign country to avoid the US taxes altogether other than what is sold via retail in the US?
Isn't that the same place where I heard the Federal Prison they built up there has exactly 300 foot of Lake Michigan for docks to unload the prisoners they ship in from Chicago?. Which floor did they put you in, sounds like the 5th floor, the only one I've heard that the "guests" can actually see the water. How much of the Lake can you see from your 3 foot by 4 inch window?
The job report - smoke and mirrors. They claim 200,000 jobs created? How about the roughly 200,000 jobs each month that are vacated by the baby boomers retiring on the average of 10K baby boomers retiring per day? Shouldn't the numbers reflect 200,000 existing positions opened up to replace retired workers PLUS 200,000 new jobs created. The government should be claiming 400,000 people went to work. You best look at the number of folks retiring in this country each month versus what the government reports, you just might find that there are not new jobs being created, just replacement into existing jobs that folks are leaving because they retire. A job filled by replacing a worker that retired is not creating a new job, it is merely filling an exist job. There are no new jobs being created.
The risk of the Ebola virus making its way out of Africa into Europe, Asia or the Americas is extremely low, according to infectious disease specialists, partly due to the severity of the disease and its deadly nature.
Patients are at the most dangerous when Ebola haemorrhagic fever is in its terminal stages, inducing both internal and external bleeding, and profuse vomiting and diarrhoea - all of which contain high concentrations of infectious virus.
(CNN) -- A U.S.-contracted medical charter flight left Cartersville, Georgia, Thursday to evacuate two American charity workers in Liberia infected with Ebola hemorrhagic fever, a source told CNN.
A CNN crew saw the airplane, a long-range business jet, depart shortly after 5 p.m. ET. The plane matched the description provided by the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
I didn't make this up, look for this headline "U.S. officials in talks to bring Ebola-stricken missionaries home from Africa" I feel sorry for those from the US that went over to Africa and contracted this, I am sure they were very careful, but they contracted Ebola. Any US official entertaining this notion of bringing them back should be first in line to have them stay at their homes with their families or better yet, have these Ebola carriers go stay at the White House.
Any pullbacks are good entry points, based on what Verizon reported this last quarter, it should sweet going forward. Would expect Verizon to announce a dividend increase in September. Base on the track record, it would probably be safe to assume a .015 cent dividend increase, anything above that hides the real strength in the Verizon numbers. Dividend increases since September 2000, this is what I found.
09/13 - .53
09/12 - .515
09.11 - .50
09/10 - .4875
09/09 - .4750
09/08 - .46
09/07 - .43
2006 - no dividend increase
03/05 - .4050
09/00 thru 12/04 - .3850
Perhaps the price is going down to increase the dividend yield.
How about you sampling what this company sells and then report back to this board as to whether you think there will be a high demand for their product.
It should scare you and it should scare every one. Baby Boomers are retiring at the rate of 10K per day, meaning if an average of 20 working days per month, that are 200K people that are no longer working, that should mean that there is a void of 200K positions that need to be filled over a months time to replace the retiring workers. Then the government claims 200K per month in July were created. For an average person to do the math, that would mean 200K people became employed to replace the retiring workers AND 200K new jobs being created. The Government should be announcing for July 400K people were put to work replacing retiring workers AND new jobs created. I think the Government is spinning the 200K Baby Boomers as retiring as 200K new jobs for people that were not working. Bottom line, at least to me, there have not been jobs being created in the US, none.
This is a bad move to allow Ebola to come into the US population with the blessing of US Officials.
Perhaps I may have been a tad conservative, only question now is will Verizon look to capitalize on the copper side what the Bell Labs announcement promises.
Learn how to type, you can't knock someone when you post grammatical errors in what you type.
Verizon is getting ready to pay the dividend on Friday, so it is not unreasonable to expect the price to stagnate for a bit.
All China is doing is trying to be monopolistic, take manufacturing jobs from the US, any intellectual properties the can get their hands on, and then do their best to keep the China market closed to foreign competition using every excuse they can get away with. I think its about time for US companies to say they are taking their manufacturing somewhere else. We know the jobs are not coming back but there are other countries where the work can be done. US companies should not have to compromise themselves to a Communist regime. I would like to hear companies say "manufacture any place other than China"
Maybe panicky longs, me, I am up tens of thousands off dollars on my long position in MSFT, dollars, not the nickels and dimes the shorts are after. Once I learned the skill of patience, I make dollars and lots of them. Some days are up other days are down, the overall longer term trend tells the story and that is up. Quite frankly, any downside on MSFT, on my other positions, my money is up higher than last week even with MSFT taking a dip,
