preferreds have far less upside than the common. To me, its not worth the trade off for a slightly higher yield
given that I am investing for the long term and reinvesting dividends.
Part of the reason I bought was SOs fantastic long term performance.
So compushare seems to be cheaper than fidelity but not a huge difference between $42,17 and $42.199
I think mgmt. bonus participation kicks in at $15.75 now. It was $16.
I would have thought it would have decreased by the amount of the dividend.
If it goes back to $2 I will reload.
How can they buy 6,7 million shares for $25 million They'd have to price it at a premium to market.
Not to mention it wouldn't help with their NOLs.
Why didn't anyone grill them on cutting down their corporate overhead ?
He paid $6.16 and the stock is $5.75 and you say they are up 10% ?
Are you really saying that $5.75 is 10% more than $6.16 ?
Must be "new math".
Ive already followed the insiders in 3 times here.
At $13.09, $12.10 and $11.06.
Im underwater overall.
Bet he wishes he sold them all.
Im not buying here unless we go much lower. Becker Drapkin bowing out at a loss scares me.
23-Jun-14 12,200 RT Sale at $7.34 per share.
(Proceeds of $89,548)
8-Nov-13 25,000 RT Purchase at $6.16 per share.
(Cost of $154,000)
They were buying at lower prices too.
Not sure they are upside down.
I last bought at $10.06 5/1/14
I last sold at $13.49 3/21/14
I kind of want more exposure here but the lack of insider buying keeps me from paying up.
They will eventually get taken out for $13-14 so anyone who buy at todays prices ($10.81) will do well.
I mean, if it takes 2-3 years to make 20.2-29.5%, that's not too bad.
Theres another one about 8-10 miles away but the one that closed was maybe 2.5 miles away.
I noticed it about 2 weeks ago. It was just a tire store, oil change type place. No parts. A former big 10 tires.
The 8k is out. They paid $3.1 +.
On August 1, 2014, Avalon Holdings Corporation ("Avalon"), through a wholly owned subsidiary, completed the acquisition of The Magnuson Grand Hotel (formerly The Avalon Inn) in Howland, Ohio for $3.1 million in cash and the assumption of certain leases. The transaction also includes the purchase of the adjoining tennis center. The Magnuson Grand Hotel is located adjacent to Avalon's corporate headquarters and its Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
And I think it sold for $1.85 million prior to that. Theres been some renovations.
The recent seller had it just 2 years. But I couldn't find what they paid for it.
The seller is the worlds largest independent Hotel Group. If they couldn't make it work, only Klingle would think he could.
He has a few days for the 8k but it could just be a repeat of the press release.
I own shares in BH and they bought bought an insurance company and a magazine and didn't disclose the price of either in an 8k.
I presume it will eventually show up on their 10q.
Im kind of surprised he even put out a press release rather than just an 8k !
Its reasonably possible the guy is just not good with money or is going thru a divorce or is sending twins to an expensive private school.
He makes $674k and he holds a lot more shares than he sold. So it might be meaningless.
I would like to see some of the other insiders step up & buy more.
Ive owned this stock 3 times before and I didn't always get the best price before. And I didn't this time.
If it goes lower Im buying more.
I have most of the posters on this board on ignore because they are just full of #$%$.
And, While I didn't expect the insider sale, more insiders have bought recently at higher prices.
