Are you actually TRYING to win the "Last man to understand" prize?
Where did you download your PhD in Climatology?
I mean, we shelled out trillions to fix their country and all we got in exchange was intractable debt!
BILLINGS, Mont. — Glacier National Park has lost two more of its namesake moving icefields to climate change, which is shrinking the rivers of ice until they grind to a halt, a government researcher said Wednesday.
Well, why are we meddling in the affairs of other countries? Would we be happy if China was picking off American citizens in American cities? Simple question.
I still have a hard time finding Republicans who believe in global warming!!!
If they were truly "free market" proponents they would demand that we end the subsidies given to the dirty energy industries.
why the thumbs down? Don't like facts in your face? Too bad.
They do agree with some things. Reboot your brain and try posting again.
at least welfare feeds and clothes people here in America. Military spending creates angry young men in other countries and destroys things.
I bet it's a disgustingly large figure.
MANIPULATION?
if green energy was subsidized by the government like dirty energy was there would be a level playing field.
The five largest oil companies last week announced first-quarter profits of $32 billion, up 30 percent from the first quarter of 2010. Exxon Mobil Corp. alone reported quarterly earnings of $11 billion, nearly 70 percent higher than a year ago, while BP p.l.c., Chevron Corp., ConocoPhillips, and Royal Dutch Shell p.l.c. reaped the remaining $21 billion.
At a time when gas prices exceed $4 a gallon, these profits are coming out of ordinary people’s pockets, and not just at the pump. American families are also padding the oil companies’ enormous profits with their tax dollars. In effect, U.S. taxpayers wrote a collective $7 billion bonus check to the oil industry when they filed their taxes last month.
That’s because the tax code is stuffed with a host of subsidies for oil and gas. These subsidies are delivered through the tax code but they are essentially no different from government spending programs that provide money directly.
that report was from 2009. Guess what? CO2 has only gone UP from then.
In December 2009, a research team from UCLA published a paper in Science that suggested we would have to go back at least 15 million years to find carbon dioxide levels approaching today’s levels. This research used isotopic analysis of shells in deep sea sediments, and reported that CO2 concentrations may not have exceeded 400 parts per million since the Mid-Miocene Climatic Optimum (MMCO) — between 16 and 14 million years ago. The MMCO was associated with reduced planetary ice volumes and global sea levels 25 to 40 meters higher than today.
Ratings don't always mean what you think. Most Americans would rate french fries as preferable than broccoli. But broccoli is much much better for you.
Years ago, it passed the 350ppm mark that many scientists say is the highest safe level for carbon dioxide. It now stands globally at 395.
So far, only the Arctic has reached that 400 level, but the rest of the world will follow soon.
"The fact that it's 400 is significant," said Jim Butler, the global monitoring director at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Earth System Research Lab. "It's just a reminder to everybody that we haven't fixed this, and we're still in trouble."
"The news today, that some stations have measured concentrations above 400ppm in the atmosphere, is further evidence that the world's political leaders – with a few honourable exceptions – are failing catastrophically to address the climate crisis," former vice president Al Gore, the highest-profile campaigner against global warming, said in an email. "History will not understand or forgive them."
Carbon dioxide is the chief greenhouse gas and stays in the atmosphere for 100 years. Some carbon dioxide is natural, mainly from decomposing dead plants and animals. Before the industrial age, levels were around 275 parts per million.
Killing humans because they killed humans is inherently illogical.
Have you ever taken a logic course?
Bush kept us safe..... with one little exception.
