When the spin off happens will it be done on a "pro rata" basis ?

  • socdad44 by socdad44 Oct 23, 2015 10:56 AM Flag

Say I had 1,000 shares today, when the spin off happens will I get 500 shares of the downstream company and 500 shares of the legacy upstream company thus equaling my 1,000 shares? Or will I keep my 1,000 shares of the upstream company and be given 1,000 shares of the new company? Or is it to soon to tell what will happen? If you are a dumb @** please don't respond . Thank you

Correct you are, I sold the 10,000 shares I first had at 17.09. bought back at 15 , 14 ,12 you get the idea. Went for my last 5000 at 10.50. I have dry powder but I am keeping it for now at least. I am heavy in AA and I know that My average is 13.39 for 25,000. We are sort of married I guess but long haul I think I will be ok. You are right though lotsa eggs in one basket

Todays price honestly who cares. The company splits next year. Downstream stable income, contracts for aerospace 9 years out. Micro mill proprietary process everyone else is in the stone age. We will allow micro mill to selectively be "let out "all profit no capital needed on our part .Then we will take our micro mill money and pay down the 3 billion in underfunded pension expense that we will have to deal with. Upstream the company no one wants will go as follows. Post break up debt taken by value added. Largest bauxite and alumina manufacturer in the world. We made the most money in Alumina since 2007 in spite of the bad quarter. Other primary metal plays have to deal with the same low prices we do but they will go bankrupt or consolidate . We can't do anything about China different rules apply. The "new Alcoa" can outlast everybody else. Maybe due to the mining/alumina positions primary metals may be acquired in the future. Value added will be about 3 years to really see the impact in the stock price. 5 years to see upstream pay off via buyout of competitor attrition. I am a little guy 25,000 shares 3/4 of what I have in my 401k. I turn 55 next year and have 3 years of cash I am going to retire then. I suppose if I am wrong about what will happen I can pick up soda cans in my shopping cart. Aluminum cans how ironic would that be? Stay strong longs

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

that makes sense the wording was poor at the announcement time . If you want to see something interesting go to RTI historical prices and look at February I don't remember the day. You will see a 3 dollar jump in one day followed by a one dollar jump the next. Makes one wonder who knew what

  • socdad44 by socdad44 Jul 10, 2015 10:21 AM Flag

If I understand properly AA will buy RTI for 41 dollars a share, yes? If this is the case why are RTI shares at about 30? Also AA and RTI mirror each other with the difference being about the 2.8531 ratio quoted back in March. Is the price really 41 a share and again why is RTI trading 10 dollars less. Thank you

  • If as I understand RTI will be sold to AA for 41 a share. Why is RTI at about 30 and why does RTI mirror AA. The share price of RTI is about 2.8531 higher than AA . Does RTI sell for 41 a share on 7/21/15 or not ?? #$%$ need not respond thank you

  • Alcoa is buying RTI for 41 dollars a share correct? Why is it trading at 30? why does RTI mirror Alcoa ? multiply AA by 2.835 and you get RTI current price more or less. I just want to learn please explain nicely I feel dumb enough asking this question. Why trade RTI at all? thank you

I am in a 14.22 for20,000 shares { really don't give a $%#& if anyone believes me or not} I rolled 10,000 shares at 17.06 earlier this year and bought here and there on the way down. Im down over 50,000 at this writing. When we bought RTI as you may or may not realize things started to go south at an accelerated pace. Do I feel foolish? NO I don't if we were all psychic we would all be rich. Maybe I should have called the psychic hot line for advice. Now we are getting downgrades just before earnings oh no the sky is falling. Here are facts institutional ownership is up 52 million shares quarter to quarter. We have the majority of days following the same downward pattern on relatively low volume, You are being manipulated and frightened into panic. Many stocks are close to 52 week highs and if / when the FED raises rates your bonds will dump. Sit back relax all will be fine. I think you are a soft bash anyway. If we go to 10 I will buy another 10,000 shares ,always have dry powder. I don't need the cash for about 5 years I am going to retire next year. Maybe I would feel different with a shorter time frame but I doubt it. Be an investor we have good people running our company and stop trying to soft bash and scare the little fish.

    Net Institutional Purchases

I posted something similar regarding institutional purchases about 3 weeks ago. I used MSN as they update quicker than Yahoo. My number was almost 8 % increase from 67% to 75%. When you consider 34% of the shares were held by others not institutions an 8% increase amounts to 25% of "available shares" the number is huge. Every day we see the same pattern over and over opens higher closes lower on for the most part reduced volume. If you can guess what happens and you are right that is a form of MANIPULATION. Your timeline of 3 years in my mind is pretty darn close. I am down 50,000 at this point. 20,000 @ 14.22. I don't need the cash for quite sometime and am not worried at all. Great post { maybe because you think exactly the same way I do :] I am not a pumper, It comes down to this, you either believe in management's vision or not. There have been 2 quarters since Firth each one better than the last. I will take my chances.

MSN financial shows last quart institutional ownership up to 75%. Yahoo financial is very slow to update. The quarter results were due out May 1 and showed the 8% jump.

I normally let this type of thing go ...but... Do you know who our main creditor is ???give up, China, would you want to bankrupt someone who owes you billions of dollars? I'll give you they don't pay fair but if America goes bankrupt you better sell all your holdings and buy bullets and M.R.E''s you will need both.

    Sentiment: Buy

  • Every day we all see it. We start out higher in the morning than we end up almost every day lower. Things to me look manipulated. I walked at 17.06 a few months ago as it was to even a climb. I have been buying on the dips { except all there is are dips } My point is if you take a look at institutional ownership quarter to quarter in Q 1 it was 67% current quarter it is up 8% to 75%. Taking into consideration there was only 33% of shares not owned institutionally 25% of "available shares" have been taken 8% is quite a high number. I have 20,000 shares at 14.22. Not leaving things should get better may take a year or 2 but everything else is pretty high, You shouldn't buy bond funds until the Fed does its thing. So basically I will continue to dance with the girl I came with. Good luck fellow longs
