Agreed. If they are announcing something, you need to be in by Tuesday (before closing) because a revised presentation will be up on the company's website early Wednesday morning before the market opens. And then it will be too late to cover a short position if trading gaps up four or five points. JMHO.
Will Colbalt announce a Natural Gas Price negotiated agreement with Angola on Wednesday morning? Will they announce a buyout of the Natural Gas only portion of Lontra's Well by BP or another Major distributor? Probably not. But either of these things could happen in the near future. A buyout of the Natural Gas portion of Lontra could pay for all of the drilling expenses for the Gas and Oil, plus a billion or two lump sum to Colbalt. That would be a good deal for the buyer as it would drop $8 Billion in Natural Gas in a major players lap. And the Billion to 2 Billion to Colbalt would finance their drilling budget between 2015 and 2017. Just something to think about. Wouldn't want to be short with these possibilities hanging over my head.
I agree with oilexplore1. They mentioned an estimated total gas figure now discovered of 5 TRILLION Cubic Feet of gas with this and the other two discoveries. That's 5 Billion 1000 cubic feet lots times $4 per lot. That's 20 Billion dollars in natural gas alone. Not to mention any other gas found in the future. This will go along way to supply the 1000 megawatt "Nautral Gas to Electricity" plant Angola is building.to supply the 6 million nearby on-shore Luanda residents in Angola's largest city. Wake up people! This drop is a gift you cannot ignore. This thing will quickly bounce back to $22+ before the end of the week!
Looks like a beat of $0.01. The Yahoo Consensus Estimate of 14 analysts is $0.35 vs. our $0.36 per share. Never heard of "Capital" consensus estimate. Trust me, the $0.35 consensus estimate is the one everyone will be quoting on tomorrow and we beat it by a penny. Great quarter everybody!
Just talked with Investor Relations, "Mr. Long." He said, "They were due out at the close today and would be out any moment."
If not today then when?
Yes. Investments went up half a billion dollars. I'm really impressed that we hit something on both prospects. The way the stock had dropped I thought we had two new "dusters." Instead, collectively we have two significant oil discoveries whose value increases the company's potential assets far beyond the current loss for this quarter (and for that matter this year). If they need a Billion dollars, just sell off part of the discoveries. Cash will not be a problem. JMHO.
Under "Events & Speeches" it looks like it's just music playing along with the announcement of the earnings on October 29th. So no announcement.
Yeah, probably (excluding dry hole write-of). Between getting a break on taxes (more cost oil) and increased production they should be within 2 cents either way, of hitting $0.34.
They won't hit $0.34 because Leo (the analyst) hasn't adjusted it for the write-off of the dry hole we drilled in the quarter. We should come in at about $0.15 per share (including the dry hole write-off).
They've also announced they will be attending another conference on September 24th. This date should be enough to cover the Mavinga Well results. An old business adage is "Get good news out as fast as you can." Maybe they are about to announce Mavinga having a big column of oil? JMHO.
It could be positive or negative. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm surprised it's not been released by now. Greg said the release would probably be sent out on Monday or probably Tuesday.
