I agree that the core users of the GoPro cameras are terrific customers. If they handle the cameras roughly and break them, they'll always be a market in replacing them. Was watching some YouTubers who upload from their GoPro's....it's amazing how boring and uninteresting most of them are, but then again, there a few that are remarkable. Who can explain the popularity of those wacky Duck Commander folks? I've enjoyed watching them, but it's getting mighty old. Then there are those Storage Wars shows where they "salt" specific lockers with really interesting "finds" It can be hard to make reality interesting and that's GoPro's problem...Reality will eventually Bite whoever invests in their shares.
The only genuine (realistic use) part of the Best Buy Demo movie was the segment featuring the GoPro CEO Billionaire with his family. Just him and the Fam playing at the beach while he held the Camera-On-a-Stick. I would wager the editing wasn't done by the CEO. They glossed it up pretty good back at the HQ. And here's the real rub I have with GoPro.....The absolute WORST technology purchase I have ever made was my state-of-the-art Panasonic video camera 10 years ago. I slowly realized how uncomfortable people would get when I used it around them. The content of my videos were forgettable. It's amazing how looking at photo albums from parents and great grandparents has become a CHORE these days.and these photos are classic "I Love Lucy" era photography. Sorry GoPro"ers, I am busy living my own life, I have no time for yours. I know your GoPro egos may have a problem comprehending that, as you put your inane videos on YouTube and hope for subscriber growth to become the next PewDiPie, but it ain't gonna happen. GoPro is a Sell.
Was standing at Best Buy watching the video feed/demo of nifty GoPro antics demonstrating how daredevils and pro athletes make full use of the GoPro cameras. So I say to myself, I could never do ANY of those things, not even close. But then I realize the genius of what GoPro is trying to do. It's like those weight loss products advertisements where some absolutely stunning model tries to convince the gullible women that they could look that way by using the product. Join our gym and you could be Jillian Michaels. Millions will buy GoPro cameras thinking they'll charge-up their lives somehow, but when the day is over, they'll still be their same old selves...minus the $399 for the new GoPro camera they'll put somewhere in their closet.
