Things must be bad when CLF cannot hold the 25 level GS put on it months ago when it was trading in the thirties. But these cyclical stocks always turn around sooner or later, usually when everyone throws in the towel.
Sentiment: Buy
Though I didn't believe it would neccessarily happen, someone posted back then that Goldman Sachs predicted CLF would bottom at 25. Today's low was 25.10 with a 25.25 close. Sometimes these guys do know what they are talking about.

caixujin:best post of the day. Factual. Not some opinion.
Seems logical. Nice post.

Earlier today," Dealreporter" posted an unsubstantiated rumor about a buyout of Coach (COH). Coach promptly rose by about 5%. Dealreporter needs to post a rumor about CLF. Stocks other than Coach need a boost also.
Dealreporter needs to spread a rumor about CLF, which has deteriorated recently even faster than COH has. Other stocks need rumor boosts also.
S @ P has the following earnings estimates for CLF: 2013: 2.93 per share. 2014: 3.79 per share. If their estimates are even moderately close to being correct, why would CLF be trading in the twenties?
Sentiment: Buy
For which stock, that must be currently trading at about 42 or so, are you referring to?
Todays selloff of about 5% was on the heaviest volume day of Feb. Why the big selloff today, and why the huge volume?
Earlier you posted "mining costs should be brought in line with Rio and BHP". I agree. Then CLF should be profitable when ore prices are low as well as when they are high. I'm not sure how CLF can do this though. And if it can be done, how quickly? Your thoughts?
Sentiment: Buy
You are correct. Almost ten years ago, people were selling CLF stock at 2.25. Talk about a bottom.

CLF went up 75 cents in a five minute time span

Make that green.

Fridays volume was the weakest since Feb. 11, when CLF was selling for 36.44. The heavy selling is finally over. Look for CLF to begin a slow climb upward to regain the ten points it lost since earnings.
Sentiment: Buy
Cramer says buy at 40. Unless the whole market tanks on government shutdowns, COH make not drop to 40. We'll see if Cramer is correct and this stock does drop all the way to 40.
Finally. Hopefully most sellers are done at these low levels.
Sentiment: Buy
CLF was trading at 74. Bloomberg came out with an article on CLF. Here is the main thrust of the article: "No company in North America is a cheaper takeover candidate than Cliffs". Well, it's a lot cheaper today.
Sentiment: Buy
In reading S @ P's latest report on CLF, they project 2013's earnings at 2.93 per share and 2014's earnings at 3.79 per share. These numbers account for all the writeoffs, stock issuance etc. This co's stock is undervalued.
Sentiment: Buy
I wanted to see if he would reply to my post. Since no reply has been forthcoming, he apparently has no facts to back up his statement.
