The USPS used to contract for exclusive lift from a wide variety of operators, large and small. These leases were usually for B727 aircraft. The service and reliability was spotty, at best, and the USPS terminated the arrangements. FedEx then offered to create a dedicated network, and utilized many of its aircraft to make it work.
