k-bon...I strongly suggest that investors 'stay out' of AVACF....I only took a small position in it so I would keep a close eye on it, in case something good would happen (I also took a small position in NYMT)...

I was lucky and made some good money on MLPL in the past before i sold it, but 'it has now stopped trading' and they are returning those invested funds to the shareholders...! Please remembers that my messages are generic and not personal...good luck on your investments...! Stagg...!

k-bon...you make a good point as I don't have any energy stocks at this time and I don't plan to buy any (yet)...however, why do you think that TRGP 'is doing so much better' than KMI and EPD at this time (there must be a reason, ???)...! It look to me like there is a lot more demand for TRGP stock than for KMI or EPD...! Stagg...!

palestone...it looks like you may be on to something with TRGP...maybe they are going to show 'a strong benefit on exports' from a lot wider Panama Canal...! Stagg...!

william...you make a good point...I also wondered why investors would keep investing in the energy sectors when they were crashing, I guess they did not understand the 'Law of Supply and Demand' (a lot of investors still don't understand the energy sectors at all)...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...grain prices have been moving upward for several reasons (to much wet weather to plant which hurts crop yields, a falling dollar and etc.)...when the U.S. dollar falls in value it makes U.S. farm products cheaper for other countries to buy (Increase exports is good for grain prices)...this may be the time to look at some short term plays (six months or less) in GRU, DBA, CORN, SOYB or even SLV (silver)...! My source of information is, 'Prairie Farmer' (on search) and click on daily articles by "Bryce Knoor'...! Stagg...!

    2 lousy days for me

    staggman99 staggman99 Apr 29, 2016 3:42 PM Flag

sarge..I have also gone down a little bit in the last two days...however, a nice dividend from NRZ helped out some today and that is why i like high yields (they give us some slack to play with when the markets turn south)...I have started new positions AVACF (yield about 16.7%) and NYMT Yield about 18.5%) as I needed to expand my holdings some...

I have said this before (and many disagree with my investment model, because they never have tried it), but I make money when the markets are going up and I increase my revenue stream when the markets are going
down)...at this time, I have some free cash from revenue stream to reinvest and I will probably take 'some profit' on SFL and move those funds into higher yields or wildcards...

More, the dollar 'has been falling in value' and this is good for U.S. grain exports, because it makes our products cheaper for other countries to buy...this may be the time, to play GRU, DBA, CORN or SOYB (???)...to get the latest on U.S. and global grain reports, on search go to: 'Prairie Farmer' and then click on Morning Market Review by 'Bryce Knorr'...! We are getting a lot more rain and this is good for crop prices as it slows down planting which increases the grain prices...SLV (silver) may also be a decent short term (six months or less) play for profit...! Keep the faith and keep investing...! Stagg...!

sarge...I know this is hard to believe, but I have a nice on-going profit on SFL (straight line profit, my Total Returns are even a lot better) and I may sell 'some' of my SFL and move those funds elsewhere for some higher yields and portfolio balance...my dollar cost averaging is really paying off...SFL has been very sweet to me...! I also started a new position in AVACF yesterday and it is making a decent run today (how crazy is that, lol)...! Stagg...!

    ANOTHER LETTER TO THE SHAREHOLDERS...!

DH...I agree as 'you make a good point' and we both know that 'the p/e ratio is very high' on PSEC (but the letter also makes some strong points)...this is one crazy market, the only stocks that I have that are up, at this time today, is CEFL and AVACF...I started a new position in AVACF yesterday (how crazy is that, ???)...! Stagg...!

  • staggman99 staggman99 Apr 28, 2016 9:28 AM Flag

sarge...FB is doing wonderful as the revenue is up over 50% (good for you)...'you are the investment man' and the cream is coming to the top...! Keep up the good work and keep investing in the right stuff...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...I received another letter from PSEC (yield about 13.5% and pays monthly) yesterday (04/27/16) and it contains a lot of information, data and some charts...i.e. Online: they grew their online loan portfolio to $652 million dollars with a 17% yield net of financing and other costs...the last time they sent a letter like this to the shareholders, the stock price 'increased over 20% in one quarter'...way to much data for me to type, but a lot of this information is available on the PSEC website (just click on the last presentation)...! william, k-bon and other shipping investors...did you guys notice that AVACF has booked their first ship through the Panama Canal (which has just been made a lot wider) in June of 2016 (???)...AVACF is shipping a lot of product 'from the U.S.' and this will be be a major cost saving for them distance wise...! william...I did not know it (thanks)...more, I just got done reading the presentation and I am going to start another position in AVACF (yield now about 17%)...the forward outlook is stronger (as their business is also seasonal) and the yield is still fine...I also notice that the rates are a bit higher on the chart on their website...

I only have six main holdings at this time and I need to add more holdings...I have plenty of free cash and I may also start a new position in NYMT (yield about 18.4%) and the color looks ok...I missed the boat on DLNG as I did not have available funds at that time (still watching for a possible pull-back, ???)...

I got all of my corn planted but not any soybeans yet...rain, rain and more rain; it will be w while before i get any soybeans planted...the good news is that grain prices have stop falling and stared to move back up some (and that is a good thing, lol)...! Please keep posting the good tips (and information) as you are a strong asset to both message boards...! Stagg...!

k-bon...as I look back to yesterday, I think that you played CPLP 'the right way' (good for you)...you had a stop loss order on some shares and then kept the rest (that was a pretty decent play on CPLP as you took out insurance)...! Now today, CPLP don't look all that bad, lol...! Stagg...!

k-bon...its the game we play, sometimes we lose and 'a lot of time we win'...I already added more CEFL and some more FRO and they are both up more since I added them a while ago...if it was easy we would not have message boards and share wisdom with each other...! I am still having a good day in the markets and I hope everybody else is also...! Stagg...!

mark...the fact is, even after taking a hit on CPLP I am 'still up today' in my portfolios, because CPLP was not a core holding...I will probably add more CEFL as it is still doing fine...! If I took your advice I would be in a bad mood all the time like you and your followers are...and I am still bragging because my other holdings are doing wonderful, lol...! Stagg...!

Board members...this is not good, new yield is now about 12.7% (based on a share price of $2.35 a share) depending on future price action...! I will probably move those funds (soon)...however, CPLP is probably over-sold at this new price level...! Stagg...!

Board members...this is not good and a major yield reduction CPLP (yield now about 12.7%, more or less depending on a future price action, I used $2.35 a share for new current yield percentage at 30 cents a year)...for what its worth, CPLP is still paying a sustainable distribution...! I will probably sell and move those fund elsewhere (win a lot and lose a few)...! Stagg...!

    RAKING IN THE CASH...!

william...i agree that YTD is the real measure...however, the reason that I use the end of January is because i did 'a major tune' up in my portfolios at that time...I have done wonderful since the end of January, but I am still down some YTD...

That said, it is not important to always hit a home run, but it is important to keep winning the game...! I believe almost all investors had a tough time in 2015 and hopefully January was the end of that downdraft (???)...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...I always go by the Total Returns on an investment and maybe some investors on this message board will find this interesting, as these are some Total Returns from 02/01/16 until 04/23/16 (source is, buyupside Total Return calculator):

    NRZ is up 10.6%

    SFL is up 14.5%

    PSEC is up 26.9%

    CEFL is up 24.1%

    BDCL is up 24.4%

    DLNG is up 65.2%

    FRO is down -13.9%

    CPLP is down -14.9%

I always feel that high yields are a very important part of investing and they give us some protection again markets and stock pull-backs...! Total Returns always reflect 'the true profit or loss' on our investments over a certain period of time, as they combine the share price with the yields...! Stagg...!
