sarge...this is a tough market as nothing seems to work (???)...! It is easier to keep the faith, than it is to keep our principal...! Stagg...!

update (10/12/15)...sold all of my LMLP and and added more SFL, PSEC and KCAP today...all three have nice yields and in my opinion they all have a decent forward outlook...plus, PSEC has monthly dividends...! I also feel all three are under valued by share price...! Stagg...!

mark...maybe you need to look again, almost every stock, in the markets, went down 'a lot more' than PSEC and KCAP today...I That said, I added more PSEC and KCAP today as they still give me a lot of 'high yield slack' to play with...! Stagg...!

k-bon...a lower yield is a warning sign on REITs and BDC's...because they must return 90% of the taxable profits to the shareholders...in other words, GBDC 'cannot produce enough taxable profits' to be required to pay a higher yield...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...at this time, 'ten more' oil tankers 'are coming from Iraq', than the regular imports, to deliver oil to the U.S.,...this oil hits the U.S. market at about $5.85 a barrel cheaper than the going rate (that is why it was purchased)...! This may be good for some of the refinery's but will probably hurt U.S. oil producers even more, as it adds to the current flood...! Oil tankers are full all over the world as some are even being used for floating oil storage...smart money may profit from this (???)...! Stagg...!

sarge...at this time, I am having a good day today...my NMM, PSEC, KCAP and FRO are doing a nice bounce...and I will soon have some more high yield dividends coming...I still don't understand how UVE can turn in great earnings and not do a lot better. (???)...I will soon know if I am correct on SFL and FRO as I feel they will soon shine bright (I already added more SFL)...! I also feel that Oil prices 'are still headed lower' as the global supply keeps increasing....! Stagg...!

sarge...CALM (yield about 2.3%) is now rated a 24% sell on the 12 different technical indicators that I use...however, some of the color looks pretty good as the ROA is 29.2%, the ROI is 20% and the ROE is 39.7% (which is very good)....support is $53.27, pivot is $55.19 and resistance is $56.77...

My opinion is, that low yield stocks don't give us much slack to play with 'when they fall' off the fast track...you may want to transfer some of those funds into a higher yield BDC and play the future rate increase that we know is coming...to average down is always good, if we think a stock is over sold (???)...! Never trust any of my advice as it may be dangerous to your wealth, lol...! Stagg...!

k-bon...I did hold my NMM instead of selling it and 'that was a mistake'...however, the current yield is very strong and well covered for the future at about 1.7 times (and I just received another dividend today)...I really wish I had sold NMM and then bought it back again...

I now think, I may dollar cost average some more shares in NMM (???)...as it may be close to a bottom and is still a decent income producer...more, I know many disagree with me, but I still see so many stocks that are paying safe and sustainable yields, that it is crazy not to play them out...

That said, I remember when we could buy 'almost any' energy or REIT stock and make good money on growth and yields...I feel that may be the future case on a lot of the BDC's when interest rates start to increase (???)...! Please keep up the good posted messages as I always look forward to your input...! Stagg...!

    NRZ continues to get pounded

    by rbgambler99 Nov 13, 2015 4:10 PM
    staggman99 staggman99 Nov 14, 2015 9:34 AM Flag

gambler...NRZ (yield now about 15%) is one of my core holdings and I am still O.K. with it...I also feel NRZ is a bit over sold and I will probably add more if it gets much cheaper...the current p/e on NRZ is 9.9 and the forward p/e next year is est. to be 6.1,...I think that NRZ is a decent play for a future increase in interest rates, that we know is coming...! We need to be careful of getting caught in 'sector rotation' (for no apparent reason) and sell to soon...! Stagg...!

k-bon...good post and it makes sense...at this time, I have placed 'some heavy bets' on SFL and FRO as I feel they will both shine when earnings are released near the end of this month...I have a strong position in FRO (not core) and I have added more to my core SFL holdings...! FRO is rated a strong buy by Zacks (which is a little better than a strong sell, lol)...! Stagg...!

A LOT MORE OIL ON THE WAY...!

    by staggman99 Nov 12, 2015 8:18 PM
    staggman99 staggman99 Nov 14, 2015 4:24 PM Flag

update (11/13/15)...there is now a line of about 40 oil tankers waiting to unload (or in some case waiting for buyers to come along) off the coast of Texas...and American crude inventories have grown to 487 million barrels...! The world wide logjam in tankers continues (in Singapore, China, and in the Persian Gulf) as the price of oil continues to fall (source: The New York Times)...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...I am still staying away from energy...however, I plan to add more PSEC, NRZ and KCAP as I feel they are decent plays for the future...PSEC (yield about 13.6% and pays monthly), NRZ (yield about 15.2%) and KCAP (yield about 18.1%) are already some of my core holdings and I like the current movement of their stock prices (slowly upward)...all three seem to have good color and strong yields at this time...! That said, BDCL (yield about 21%) has been 'running strong' and I will also add to it if there it has a strong pull-back (it seems like the BDC's are now getting more attention)...! Stagg...!

  • staggman99 staggman99 Nov 16, 2015 11:27 AM Flag

gambler and board members...at this time, I am staying away from all energy holdings...however, I must admit that GXOCF has 'outstanding color' and is rated a 88% buy on the 12 different technical indicators that I use...if this data is correct, the ROE is 55.5% and the p/e is 1.4 (both are very outstanding)...the monthly yield is about 7% (yearly) and the support s $6.48, the pivot is $6.47 and the resistance is $6.60...! I may be wrong, but there may be some tax issues with Canada oil stocks (???)...! Stagg...!

mark and board members...UVE has released a statement that Lakewood capital (a short seller) 'made misleading statements about the company' and that UVE's earnings really are up 48.7% YOY ...where is the SEC (???) and who is asleep at the wheel...! UVE is now up over 6% after hours, but 'the damage is done' and investors some will think that where there is smoke, there may be fire, this is scary, is nothing safe anymore (???)...! Stagg...!

update (11/18/15)...Zacks now has a strong buy rating on KCAP...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...I have been 'on a weak roll' for over a year...however, I am placing several strong bets on the future interest rate increase (that we know is coming)...myself, I have been adding more NRZ, PSEC, BDCL and KCAP (and maybe some NYMT 'after' the rate increase)...i.e. Zacks has just put a 'strong buy on KCAP' and it has a decent yield at about 18%...plus, we may get some good news on SFL and FRO near the end of this month (???)...! I would really like to hear from others about how they are investing their funds for the future rate increase (as I need some new and fresh ideas outside of banks)...! Stagg...!
