william...I am well pleased that you are happy with the Jim Beam Black (American made, doubled aged 'corn' bourbon whiskey)...I can only wish my investment tips were as good as my tips on bourbon whiskey, lol...I usually drink about two fingers of Jim Beam Black on the rocks (ice) in the evening every couple of days...! I hope you also enjoyed your trip to the U.S., keep in touch as we welcome all the investment wisdom that we can get...! $tagg...!

OT - SDRL A BUY YET?

d-burg...I think it is probably better to 'wait until early November' to start buying again...I am a firm believer in SDRL and NADL, but, at this time, I have been wrong on both of them...I feel that both SDRL (yield now almost 15%) and NADL (yield now about 14%) are both over-sold at this level, but the markets disagree with me because they keep going lower...! I only have two stocks up at this time today (AWLCF amd MLPL)...! $tagg...!

sarge...I think that I will sell my TWO (yield about 10.6%) and buy some ADM (yield about 2%)...ADM 'is the largest corn processor in the world' and corn is now about $2.80 a bu. (corn was over $4.00 bu. a year ago), in other words I feel that ADM may have an upside in profits of 'at least 30%' or more over the next 12 months...

I hate low yield stocks...however, we can profit from the current low price of corn and other grains and when the worst we can do is break even or made money, a stock is always a good buy...I just don't see any risk on ADM over the next year or a bit longer...

ADM is a good across the board way 'to play very low corn prices' and they are also a major producer of ethanol (it looks like a 'clog lock' for growing profits to me)...! I also plan to 'dollar cost average' some more WMC, SDRL and maybe some NADL (in the future)...what good is a market pull-back if we do not take advantage of it....??? $tagg...!

Board members...I think that bob is on top of the game on NADL (yield now about 14%)...I strongly feel that SDRL and NADL are both strong buys at this time...I am selling all of my TWO holdings and first, adding some ADM (because corn prices are so low) and then looking for decent entry points to add more WMC, SDRL and some NADL...what good is a market pull-back if we do not take advantage of it...??? $tagg...!

more...I also feel that ARLP is a 'strong buy' at this time because of the White Oak coal mine going into full production...I just signed another lease with them and I am meeting with their reps. again late this afternoon...! ARLP is down big again today, but I know 'for a fact' that their over-all production 'is increasing' at this time...tip: watch for a good entry point on ARLP...! $tagg...!

sarge...ADM is the 'worlds largest corn processor'...if we go to the profile on yahoo on ADM we see that ADM turns corn (and other products) into consumer goods...it is not just ethanol..i.e. sweeteners, starches, and a lot of other bio products (way to much to type)...corn is one of ADM's main base products that they 'turn into consumer goods'...'corn prices are the foundation' of their future products and profits...! Again, please read the companies profile as it will be a real surprise (the less ADM pays for grain, the more profit that they gain)...! $tagg...!

sarge...all of my holdings (except for MLPL) have been retreating since Labor Day...my principal has dipped over $30,000 in the last several weeks and even if we have some good news on a stock, we will probably see another five weeks of pain...

Nothing has really changed except the 'seasonal timing' in the markets (Bloody October time frame) and it will pass (but not without a lot of pain)...myself, I have been switching some of my lower yield holdings into some higher yield holdings....

ARLP has been following the markets down and a lot of investors feel that 'coal is out of favor' at this time, just like off-shore drilling is out of investor favor...however, most of the time I invest in a stock and not the sectors....

The fact is, when oil prices are up, oil companies make a lot of profit and when grain prices 'are way down' companies like ADM will make a lot of profit (it is that simple)...coal and off-shore drilling 'is not dead'...but investor confidence in them is weak at this time...! $tagg...!

more...the White Oak coal mine (in Hamilton, County Illinois) now has about 350 employees and most of them have come from other underground coal mines 'that have been shut down'...the fact is, some of the miners have come from has far away as West Virginia in work in the new White Oak coal mine in Southern Illinois...I don't have crystal ball to the future, but everything that I have posted on the new White Oak coal mine and ARLP is true...! For the record, I do not own ARLP or NADL yet...but I have them both high on my radar...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...several months back I posted a message about MLPL (yield about 8%) and at that time ed replied that MLPL would have 'a tremendous upside this year' and 'ed was correct'...at this time, MLPL is my leading holding (by far) as it is now up over 44% YTD in Total Returns and I am very well pleased with it....! OK ed, do you have any more good advice for all of us (???), we need all the help we can get...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...today I am selling 'all of my TWO holdings' and will be adding ADM, SFL, SDRL, NADL, AWLCF and WMC...ADM is a good way to play lower corn prices (it may take a while for them to work off their 'current corn stocks' that were bought at higher prices, but ADM should shine in the future)...SFL, SDRL, NADL and AWLCF are all high yield stocks that are over-sold at this time (if they go lower in share price, I will add more)...! I am now only up 6% YTD in Total Returns, but my average weighted yield on my holdings is well over 14%...I can't make any money sitting in the safe house...! $tagg...!

Board members...Apple may have 'some serious tax problems' in Ireland as they may have to repay billions of dollars to the Irish government (their tax breaks in Ireland may not be in compatibility with e EU law)...Apple is sitting on $164 billion in cash and cash equivalents and has $138 billion stashed away in foreign subsidiaries...! Apple also needs to return some of those profits to the shareholders..! $tagg...!

sarge...I just sold all of my TWO this morning...you need to post these type of messages 'before I sell a stock' and not after...that said, I think I will drink some more Jim Beam Black, lol...! $tagg...!

  • staggman99 staggman99 Oct 1, 2014 12:46 PM Flag

sarge...I predicted a possible Bloody October (and I wish I was wrong)...I am now down about $30,000 in the last couple of weeks and I am only up about 6% YTD in Total Returns...I am afraid that there is more pain on the way before November (plus grain prices are also in the dumps)...I can only hope for a decent Santa Clause Rally near the end of the year...! Do we still believe in Santa Clause, lol...??? I did make an entry point in ADM and of course it got cheaper after I bought it...its hard to not buy more SFL and SDRL at this price level, but I am still waiting...! $tagg...!

mark...lets not forget that FRO is forming a new company with TI...this is good for SFL because it means that FRO is probably not going bankrupt...it looks like JF has pulled another rabbit out of his hat (at this time FRO is up almost 13% today)...! $tagg...!

rogers...I added more SDRL, SFL and AWLCF today...this will all pass and we will prevail again, lol...! Everybody knew we would probably have a market sell-off after Labor Day (its not that big of a deal)...! $tagg...!

  • staggman99 staggman99 Oct 2, 2014 10:05 AM Flag

sarge...thanks for the good posted article and I agree with all of it....SDRL (yield now almost 16%) is way over-sold, I added more yesterday and 'I plan to add more again'...I don't know where the bottom is in SDRL, but I do know that it very over-sold right now...! I am also adding more WMC (yield now about 19%) to my current holdings...I also started 'a new position in ADM yesterday' and it is moving upward at this time (late morning, before lunch, is usually the best time of day to buy)...! $tagg...!

rogers...I added more SFL, SDRL, AWLCF and ADM yesterday....I could be wrong but it looks like ADM, SFL and AWLCF may have made a price close to their bottom (I probably bought SDRL 'to soon', but I plan to add more, after it settles down)....! My next buys will be more WMC, ADM and NADL....! $tagg...!

  • staggman99 staggman99 Oct 2, 2014 11:02 AM Flag

Board members...there is 'zero chance' that the ethanol mandate will end because the price of ethanol is now $1.53 a gallon (it was over $2.20 a gallon)...the refineries are making a lot of profit by blending ethanol will gasoline and selling it...E-85 is cheaper, but not anywhere near 70 to 80 cents a gallon...

More, one T-bone steak cost more than two bu. of corn, but it don't take two bu. of corn (112 lb.) to make one steak...a bu. of corn cost $2.90 but a steak can cost over $6.00 each...even fresh ground chuck cost $1.70 a lb. and again two lbs. of ground chuck would cost $3.40 a lb., yet 56 lbs. of corn cost $2.90...

I strongly suggest that smart investors 'buy some ADM stock' as it is the 'world's largest processor of corn' (and not just ethanol)...corn prices will stay low for at least 18 months and ADM investors will profit from it...! $tagg...!

gambler...its called 'Bloody October' and it will probably end in early November...I have been selling my low yield holdings and moving those funds into higher yields...oil and off-shore drilling is getting hit very hard..but, long term, we can profit from it...this has been 'a very typical investment year' and if it holds true to form we will get a strong Santa Clause Rally near the end of the year...! I just added more ADM and will probably add/buy more SDRL and NADL in the future...! Keep the faith as it will probably be over in about four or five weeks...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...Exxon Mobil is suspending off-shore drilling operations off the cost of Liberia because of embola (source..CNBC)...! $tagg...!
