sarge...PSEC (yield about 17.1% and pays monthly) turned in good earnings and is a real daisy today, as the yield looks secure...! Stagg...!
chad...I don't know why there is a big sell off today in SFL, I suspect that some big mutual funds are dumping a lot of shares and it is also possible that somebody has inside information (???)... my opinion is, that some big players have found what they feel is a better place to place those funds...i.e. maybe in PSEC, GSL or AVACF, lol...another opinion is, that there could be some concern about SFL's exposure to a off-shore drilling rig (because FRO is up and SFL is down and they are both joined at the hip in shipping)...! Even if SFL was to lose a contract with SDRL, on a drilling rig, the SFL stock is still 'very over sold' at this level...! Stagg...!
chad...everybody is running gun shy...I think that SFL and FRO will do fine, didn't NAT just turn in decent earnings because of O.K. tanker rates (???), and NAT is in some of the same business as FRO and SFL...more, it looks to me like the FRO current yield is about half of their current earnings (and that is very good)...
The stock price does not always reflect the economic condition of the company (look at PSEC)...it looks to me like most shipping is doing pretty good 'outside of Dry Bulk'...I feel the current markets are 'a buyers paradise' for for high yield and a future bounce back (we have all seen this movie before)...! Good luck investing...! Stagg...!
Board members...Illinois basin crude oil is now $20.75 a barrel, down $2.25 effective yesterday...! Hopefully this will be a better day in the markets and maybe PSEC (yield now maybe about 17.3%, before the open) will help lead the way...PSEC is now up about 9% in the pre-market...! Stagg...!
Board members...PSEC (yield was about 19%, before the open) has turned in outstanding earnings and the current yield seems to be very secure...the tip-off was a letter that was sent out to shareholders a few days before earnings were released, the letter mentioned '14 different reasons' why PSEC was a solid stock to own...it looks to me like PSEC is at the top of their game and moving forward on the fast track, as they have wonderful over-all color and a great yield that is paid monthly...! PSEC, should be a daisy today and this may be a good day in the neighborhood...! Stagg...!
Board members...I am now afraid that we have lost another fine message board member because of the nasty and personal messages from mark...I have ask mark in a nice way 'to stand-down', but he refuses to do so because he says he 'is helping people'...I hope that sarge comes back again, as this is the third time that mark has taken more cheap-shots at him...! By my count, we have now lost at least three board members because of mark's nasty cheap-shots at them (who is next, ???)...! Stagg...!
c-indictor...the PSEC (yield about 19%) message board was shut down 'by request of the company' because it was a battle ground for 'jerks and trolls' that kept making nasty remarks about the company...more, it looks to me like the 'automated insight system' has made a huge mistake by saying that PSEC had a 95.1 million dollar loss, when it fact, is was almost record profits...! At this time I still favor PSEC, GSL, CPLP, NRZ, BDCL, FRO and SFL...! Stagg...!
update...PSEC just turned in 'very strong earnings'...i.e. the yield is secure and they beat by .03 a share...the earning report is very long and complex, but all is very good and the forward outlook is wonderful...! At this time the stock is up over 10% after hours...! Stagg...!
Board members...I received a letter in the mail from PSEC (yield now about 18.6% and pays monthly) they explain in the letter why the color is strong and the stock is very under priced...the letter (way to much to type) gives '14 different reasons' why the stock of PSEC is under priced and has as a strong forward outlook...
They said, that the share price has been affected by shrinking energy prices, fear of high yield market defaults, Federal Reserve tightening and etc.,...the letter also included 'several charts' that compared their operations to other comparable companies...the letter also covered their Total Returns and and many other factors...! The purpose of the letter was to highlight why PSEC stock is very under valued at its current price...it should be interesting to see what the next earning release brings forward (???)...! Stagg...!
j-man...I feel the forward outlook and the current yield (about 24%) is fine as most 'fourth quarter weakness' is seasonal...! Stagg...!
sarge...nice to see you...however, the markets are a mess today...! Keep the faith as it will get better...! Stagg...!
william...after reading the earning report and the presentation, I feel 'the forward outlook is fine' with AVACF and I plan to add more to my position in the future...! I also plan to add more GSL and CPLP when I have the available funds...! Thanks for your very helpful input...! Stagg...!
william...thanks for the update, as I do own AVACF...a .65 a share dividend would put the current yield at 24%, if it is maintained at that level in the future (not to bad, lol)...! Stagg...!
Board members...because of the est. 4 trillion dollars being held off-shore by U.S. corporations and the more trillions of dollars lost in the down-fall of the energy sectors...I now wonder if there are enough available funds (free cash) to push the markets back up again (???)...! Lets hope I am wrong on some of this...! Stagg...!
Board members...a lot of other message boards are trash, because some people think 'it is cute to bash' other people and try to make them look stupid...and that don't make us any money...
The fact is, if we run a good investor off of a message board because we think it is funny to bash them, we may lose an investor that could give us 'a tip in the future' that could make or save us thousands of dollars (and that is not very smart)...! Stagg...!
Board members...I have about 85 stocks on my watch list and NYMT is down 'about the least' of any of them and it has a yield of about 20%...! I fail to see where low yield stock are less affected by the current market sell-off than high yield stocks...! Stagg...!
sarge and board members...I find it strange that mark always like to point out some investors holdings that have retreated in share price, even when all of the markets are also down...his personal attacks on other investors and their holdings is getting very old...! When somebody loses their job, some call it progress, but when they lose their job, they feel a lot different...myself, I take no pleasure in making fun of other peoples misfortunes...! Stagg...!
sarge...it is stating to look to me like there is not enough free cash available to push the markets up again (lets hope that I am wrong)...even time a good paying job leaves the U.S. or another foreign made produce is bought, that is 'more free cash leaving' our country...and now the loss of profits and good paying jobs in the energy sectors is adding to it...
More, people all over the world 'are getting very lazy'...look at the drive thru at McDonalds, there are two lanes bumper to bumper, buying breakfast, when they could eat a bowl of Cheerios at home...all the fast food places are full, yet most grocery stores are usually very slow...there are more loan companies than gas stations...and some people go to work and spend more of the day on message boards on the P.C. (and later on they wonder why their job was eliminated)...! Its not to hard to figure out what is going wrong...! Stagg...!
william...while a lot of different companies earnings have been a disappointment, some shipping companies seem to be doing 'better than the general markets'...NAT (yield about 14.2%) did not meet expectations, but still showed a decent profit (.34 vs .46)...! I hope my FRO does as well in the future...! Stagg...!
