  • Board members...Boone Pickens was just on CNBC and he says oil will be $70 a barrel by the end of this year and between $80 and $100 a barrel in 18 months...I don't know if he is right or wrong, but I do know that he knows 'a lot more' about the oil markets than most of us...! Just something else to think about...! Stagg...!

This should help a bit (4/27 news)

Board members...SFL has been one of my leading stock gainers for several years...SFL is the stock that 'just keeps giving' and a lot of people keep saying that they are doing everything wrong and will go broke...SFL has paid out a lot more over the years in dividends than the current share price...i.e. SFL (yield about 11.4%) is up about 113% in Total Returns over the last 10 years to current date and 'compound returns always win' (we cannot reinvest profit, if we do not have some profit)....! I recently took some profit on some of my SFL holdings, but it is still a core holding...! Stagg...!

sarge...I took 'some profit' today on F (yield about 3.8%, and it is still a core holding) and I plan to buy more LMLP (yield about 17.7% and pays monthly)...its always nice to take some capital gains and then move those funds into a higher yielding stock...! I still plan to add more NRZ and KCAP in the future...! Stagg...!

Board members...the deal with SFL acquiring eight Capsize dry bulk carriers 'does not' look like a block buster to me...however, it does 'help secure' their long term business model and nail down the current yield even more (not great news, but indeed, it is still good news)...! Good news always better than no news...! Stagg...!

    O/T MEP

william...I am burned out on MLP's that send out a K-1, so I am holding MLPL and others that do the K-1 work for me...that said, MEP (yield about 9.2%) is rated a buy on the short, medium and long term technical indicators that I use (it is rated a 56% buy on the over-all average with a price target of $15.44)...

The current color is 'on the weak side' (earnings this year -89.6%, EPS next year-14.9%, sales -74% however sales quarter over quarter are now up 52%; and MEP has 'just had some revisions' and the forward guidance is now a lot stronger...! Good luck on your selections...! Stagg...!

bayman...our investment life is fine as I am now up 6.8% YTD in Total Returns...NYMT is my leading holding in common returns, followed in order by NRZ, SFL and NMM...with current and forward yields (one year) added back, I am 'in the money' on all of my holdings...I added more KCAP yesterday and I plan to add more in the future (I also plan to add more NRZ and maybe some more LMLP)...

In the future, I also plan to reduce 'some' of my holdings in PSEC, F, SFL and maybe BDCL...I am getting tired of waiting on F and PSEC to show more force and I need to correct my portfolio balance...the only reason that I am in the money on PSEC is because it is a long term high yield holding (but the principal is weak)...

However, the interview with Michael Cimini (investor relations with PSEC) was very interesting, note the part about making more profit as interest rates increase in the future 'by more than 100 basis point' movement...! Stagg...!

sarge...yes, I think we get the KCAP shares automatically unless we tell our broker different...I also think that palestone has it right on FB, a strong dollar has hurt it some, but FB will be fine longer term...

My arm is better (the Jim beam Black helped a lot, lol), but I think my ex-wife has something to do with it (she is very wicked and know how to play all the dirty tricks)...! That said, I am doing so good in the markets, at this time, that I am afraid to change anything (also, NRZ is still running hot on the latest upgrades)...! Stagg...!

sarge...I think the shares will auto reinvest unless we tell out broker not to....and because KCAP is probably oversold, at this level, I plan to let it ride for a while (I also plan to add more shares in the future)...I am now up 6.8% YTD in Total Returns in my current investments (my ETN's have been doing wonderful)...! Stagg...!

  • staggman99 by staggman99 Apr 23, 2015 10:34 AM Flag

Board members...SMHD (average variable yield of about 16.8% and pays monthly) is a fairly new ENT that is double leverage (2X) and is a basket of small cap high yield holdings...the chart (price) is all over the place but it could reward well if the share price is dollar cost averaged on the dips (we can get twice the profit or loss for the same amount of invested funds)...

GASFX is another that is on my radar (it is one of my oldest son's favorite holding)...the Total Returns on GASFX is one year 10.5%, three year 63% and five year is 116%...GASFX almost always has 'a nice special dividend' near the end of the year in December...GASFX is a five star mutual fund that is invested in natural gas distribution and transmission operations...! Neither SMHD or GASFX are in my current holdings, but it is something else to think about...! Stagg...!

sarge...I am now in the money on KCAP (as I added more a while ago)...I always dollar cost average into a new holding and that give me a price point to work off of...I now have 1,700 shares of KCAP and it is 'not near' a core holding yet...

KCAP (yield now about 15%) also pays in new shares are added, 'at market', it should help push the share price upward in the future...I still feel that KCAP is a buy at this price level and plan to add more in the future (more dollar cost averaging)...! That said, never trust my judgement, lol...! Stagg...!

update...NRZ has got a nice upgrade from BOA and ML (to a buy with a 20% upside in share price)...they say the yield will increase (very soon) and the new target price is now $18.50...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...I just received dividends from BDCL, CEFL, DVHL, MLPL and, in a few days i will receive dividends from NYMT, WMC, NRZ, PSEC and KCAP....dividend season is the reason 'that I will be shopping for more value plays' in the near future (note: KCAP will pay the dividend out in extra shares, unless different broker action has been taken)...! The slow track is getting faster, lol...! Stagg...!

bayman...SFL (yield now about 10.6%) is rated a buy on the short, medium and long term technical indicators that I use (over-all average is a 64% buy)...the support is $15.22, pivot is $15.75 and resistance is $16.28...ROA is 4.1%, ROE is 10.4%, ROI is 5.2%...the gross margin is 63.5%, operating margin is 40.6%, profit margin is 37.5% and the target price is $18.79....

NMM (yield is now about 14%) is rated a buy on the short , medium and long term technical indicators that I use (over-all average is 80% buy)...the support is $12.28, pivot is is $12.74 and resistance is $13.20...ROA 5.3%, ROE is 9.2% and ROI is 7.8%...the gross margin is 92.9%, operating margin is 45.5% and profit margin is 31.4% with a target price of $14.10...

That said, the RSI on NMM is 58.6 and the RSI on SFL is 66...based on all of the technical data that I use (about 15 on these two stocks) it would appear that NMM is the better buy at this time...! Stagg...!

Board members...NRZ (yield now about 8.7%) is up 31% since 02/20/15...that said, all of my holdings have been doing a great snap-back, but not as good as NRZ...MLPL, LMLP and F are also doing fine...! Sometimes it pays to keep the faith...! Stagg...!

Board members...first, nothing about ethanol is criminal or illegal...second, nobody is being forced to put it in their gas tanks (ethanol free gas in available if consumers are willing to pay more for it)...third, it does not push the price of food prices up, as food prices are still going higher while corn prices are over 50% lower...fourth, what does it cost (???) to store corn to keep the it from spoiling or from letting the rats eat it...

That said, the Monkey Talker talks about everything 'except investments' (its obvious he is not a real investor)'s tip: check out BDCL (yield about 17.4%), BDCL is a double leverage (2X) basket of BDC's and has twice the profit or loss for the same amount of invested funds...NMM (yield about 14.1%) and NRZ (yield about 9.1%) are also both outstanding investments for growth and nice yields...

Why listen to the Monkey Talk when we can be making a nice profit investing (???)...outstanding Total Returns from 'reliable high yield investments' is the key...! Stagg...!

sarge...I got some bone spurs in my neck that is pinching a nerve that goes to my left arm and they can do surgery to fix it...the pain is not as bad as it was, so I think that I 'will drink on it' for a while (Jim Beam Black can fix almost anything), lol...! I have CNBC on all day long (and I enjoy it)...however, if the Pro's keep talking Correction we will have one and then they will start talking a Rally and we will also have another Rally...! 'Reliable Yields' are probably the long term key...! Stagg...!

staggman99 staggman99 Apr 18, 2015 10:16 AM Flag is hard to say if we will have a 'Sell In May And Go Away'...however, when we do, it usually don't amount to much or last very long...the fact is, that we usually get a 'Mid-Summer Rally' which is pretty strong...and the worst is a 'Bloody October' (which can come early and be longer, like last year)...I am an investor and not a trader, so revenue stream from my investments is very important to me...

That said, the stocks and the markets 'always over-corrects' (to high or to low) and I try to made money in the middle and by dollar cost averaging it has worked good for me... in my opinion, 'a new thing to watch for', is 'Sector Rotation', a lot of money seems to jump in and out of different sectors 'for no real reason'...investors get caught in a 'Sector Rotation' and sell out, just to see those related stocks go right back up again...! We are seeing more Sector Rotation all the time and 'high yields help' (but are not the cure) as our revenue stream stays the same 'if we hold' those stocks (and gets better if we dollar cost average)...! Stagg...!

k-bon...I am well pleased with WMC (yield about 18.7%) and NYMT (yield about 13.7%), NRZ (yield about 9.1%) has been on the fast track for Total Returns (it is up over 44% in the last 12 months in Total Returns)...! Stagg...!
