  • Board much for the Mid-Summer Rally (looks I had it wrong, this time) I am starting to wonder if this is a prelude to Bloody October (if it is, we are in big trouble) my FRO is doing OK and my UVE is doing great, most of the rest of my holdings are in the dumps (high yields have been my current salvation)...a lot of very good stocks are selling off for 'no reason'...

My opinion is, that a lot of investors (and some mutual funds) have been burned so bad 'in energy stocks' that a lot of them have threw the towel in on everything and when to the sidelines...myself, I will continue to load up on stocks outside of the energy sector...i.e. a lot of BDC's have dropped in share price, but their business has not changed and shipping is also getting stronger, plus, the same with SFL, NMM, NRZ, NYMT, WMC and many others...

More, everybody knows that the markets 'will sell-off' when the Fed raises interest rates (even though the first raise will be small and not make much difference)...! We will probably see a market snap-back next week (but not a Market rally) and Its possible we will see a strong Market Rally 'shortly after the Fed raise interest rates (maybe about two weeks after the panic sell-off)...! Stagg...!

ed...nice profit (good for you) may want to take a hard look at UVE has it is still on the 'fast track for capital gains' and we probably don't have to worry about an future interest rate increase having an effect on it...! UVE is very hot (short and long term)...! Stagg...!

sarge... I will start a new position in FRO today and I will also add more UVE to my current the future I plan to add more NRZ and KCAP (this is a big dividend month for me and I am reinvesting)...! No energy related MLP's for me (also, this is 'now' looking like a good entry point on FRO)...! Stagg...!

k-bon...yes, I am starting a position in FRO (soon)...I sold my FRO at about $54.00 a share in the past, I don't see FRO getting anywhere near that price, but we could see an easy double (maybe over the next 12 months, ???)...! Stagg...!

  • staggman99 by staggman99 Jul 22, 2015 8:38 PM Flag

Board members... a few weeks ago I posted that I thought FRO had price bottomed out and would probably move up in the future...I also told another investor that I thought FRO was probably a good buy (I should have taken my own advice, lol)...

Two things to consider on FRO: first, current outstanding share price appreciation could be a false start (???) because tanker rates could retreat again. second, even though FRO is making a lot more profit, they have to give the Lion's share of profit to SFL (because of a cheaper break in lease rates).,...

My opinion is, that FRO is probably 'a strong and safe buy' because 'the worst is probably over' and the FRO business is getting a lot stronger...! The short, medium and long term technical indicators that I use, now rate FRO a 72% buy (and FRO has also been upgraded by others)...! Stagg...!

chad...I sold my FRO in the past at about $54.00 a share and now I am thinking about getting back in again... the fact is, that FRO is one of the largest shipping companies in the world and they seem to be getting several upgrades at this time (also several of the shipping Index's are still increasing)...! Board members...a lot of investors got a upset with me well over a year ago when I said the energy was a poor investment at that time (and I was correct, but it became a lot worst than I expected)...I am not trying to rub salt into open wounds, but the weak signals on energy were very obvious (a strong change on Supply and Demand), yet a lot of investors refused to follow them...

My point is, that energy 'will shine again', at some point in the future, and we has investors need to follow the signs and 'not the heart'...! My opinion is, that a lot of industries 'will continue to benefit' from lower energy prices until there is a 'turn around' in the future (shipping, airlines, plastics and etc.), a flood of Iran oil will probably drag it (lower energy prices) out a bit longer..! Stagg...!

staggman99 staggman99 Jul 20, 2015 10:02 AM Flag of the reason that I continue to invest in high yield stocks, is because the Crystal Ball on growth stocks is always cloudy, lol...! Stagg...!

more...European stocks may benefit from the European Central Bank's stimulus and a currency tailwind...

First, the EBC's massive bond-buying may continue to encourage bond investors to move into stocks...

Second, a weaker euro is expected to help boost dollar-based earnings for the regions exporters...

Third, Germany's strong export-oriented economy may be well-positioned to benefit from these trends...

Action to consider: consider hedged exposure to German stocks as an entryway to potential European Momentum...! Again, AEPGX (all purpose across the board Euro-Pacific fund), HEZU (hedged MSIC EMU fund) and HEWG (hedged MSIC Germany fund)...! Just a bit more to think about as we continue to play the game...! Stagg...!

  • staggman99 by staggman99 Jul 20, 2015 9:29 AM Flag

Board members... a stronger dollar is pushing gold and oil prices down a bit more and a future increase interest rates will add to it some more...Europe and some other countries 'exports to the U.S' will continue to benefit from a stronger dollar...I suggest that AEPGX, HEZU and HEWG would be some good investments that will benefit from a stronger dollar...! Stagg...!

sarge...I don't know how long it will last, but it has been a nice Mid- Summer Rally for me...I expect to see some short term profit taking because I just don't see investors not taking a bit off the table after yesterday...however, I don't feel the Rally is near over yet, as it may need to catch its breath a bit...

I also see a lot more pain ahead in the energy sector, old habits are hard to break, as a lot of us made nice profits in the energy sectors in the past, but it is not time to jump back into energy yet...we need to get ready for the future increase in interest rates, the increase will be small, but the markets will probably over react...! I have a lot of dividends coming this month and I am ready to go shopping for more 'high yield value' (note; all high yield stocks 'do not' have good value)...! Stagg...!

  • Board was the best capital gain day in my portfolios that I have had in my lifetime...the last several days have for sure been a Mid-Summer Rally for me (SFL and NMM helped out a lot)...when high yield holdings surge like today we always profit big time...i.e. Greece may be setting down a bit, the Iran deal is also stating to settle down a bit, the BDI Index is still moving higher, a lot of companies continue to profit from lower oil and fuel prices and even grain prices have been on the uptick...! I always worry about Bloody October (time frame), but lately it has been a 'real daisy' for me (even KCAP, BDCL and PSEC surged today)...! Stagg...!

gambler...there are a lot of investors on this message board that are always looking for the right oil or natural gas related stocks to own (there are a lot of other good places to place our invested funds)...the fact is, in the overall market place 'most investors are staying away' from all energy related stocks, at this time (including me)...! k-bon...almost, all of the data in our life is computer generated (CAT scans, MRI's, stock charts, our stock purchases, soil tests on my farms, tax returns, blueprints, results at the racetrack) and in my opinion, most conference calls 'are sale pitches' (they only tell what they want to tell)...more, a lot of companies give lower forward guidance, so 'when they beat' estimated earnings, they look good, and they can get a nice bonus..! Nobody draws those stock charts and the RSI and etc., computer programs have eliminated a lot of jobs and the list is still growing...i.e. in the future there will not be any traders on the floor....! Stagg...!

k-bon...I never listen to conference calls anymore, because they are either 'bragging or making excuses' and they always sweep the dirt under the rug...I run the numbers, but most conference calls are 'just a wast of time'...I know many will disagree with me on this...but I never did find out any information, of value, on a conference call...! That said, the markets are doing 'a nice snap-back today' and my KCAP is looking good (this is a happy investment day)...! Stagg...!
