    First two quarters:

bayman...at this time I am up about 13.5% in Total returns YTD....however, in over ten years you have out perform me every single year (good for you)...at this time, it is looking like k-bon is the current leader...this is not an investment contest, however, we all profit from a basket of outstanding investors that 'share their ideas and investments'...

That said I am not joking, we get a lot of great tips and investment advice on these message boards from outstanding investors that are focused on investing and 'it just keeps getting better'...both of these investment boards (SFL and AMNB) are making me a lot of profit and that is why I tend to get upset when somebody tries to change the program...! If we do near as good in the second half of this year as we did in the first six months this will be a really great year (can you tell that I am very happy, ???, lol)...! $tagg...!

palestone...half of my corn crop is looking pretty good, it did get a lot of nitrogen burn when it was side dressed, but it seems to be growing out of it and is now looking good...the other half of my corn (on another farm) is so-so as I had to replant a lot of it...the biggest problem at this time is corn prices, I thought they would increase some and I was dead wrong about that...

My soybeans are looking good at this time as I have a good stand and the prices are holding up pretty good....I have very good ground moisture at this time and there is more rain on the way today...all of my farm land sheds excess water good because it is slightly rolling...! This year I seem to be a better investor than a farmer, lol...! $tagg...!

k-bon...thanks for an outstanding posted message, you are really doing great (good for you) and I am very impressed...I always like to see what 'real investors are doing with real investments'....it will take me a while to study some of them...you are knocking the socks off of me as I am only up about 13% YTD in Total Returns...! Thanks again for the update...! $tagg...!

bayman...I also got mine, it sure is sweet when we get high yields and nice capital gains to boot...July is a big dividend month for me as I get the monthly payers plus several others PSEC, STAG, DVHL, CEFL, TWO, NYMT and AI...! $tagg...!

mark (or anybody else)...mark, you are the interest rate guy, so tell me why DVHL has been going up in share price a lot more than CEFL (???)...CEFL has a lot higher yield (about 16%) than DVHL which is (about 11%).....do you know what the different 'income drivers' are between them (???)...! Please educate me on this (???)...! $tagg...!

sarge...I feel the deal will be 'very good' for LINE/LNCO share holders...I also find it strange (???) that on the LINE message board most people are still talking religion, politics or fighting with each other than looking at their investments (the Devon deal is a big deal for the LINE shareholders)...! Please keep posting good information and keep investing...! $tagg...!

bob...I agree, almost all of the BDC's are moving up 'very strong today', probably because it is near the end of June and investors are moving back into them (???)...BDCL, HTGC, TCAP, HRZN and etc., are all showing strong gains today...! $tagg...!

correction... my previous post should read twice the profit 'or' loss...! Investors may also want to take a hard look at AWLCF (yield about 19% after currency exchange fees)...AWLCF is now up 25% YTD in Total Returns...! $tagg...!

lord...MLPL (yield about 10%) is one of my core holdings and I am well pleased with it....MLPL is a double leverage (2X) basket of MLP's and investors get 'twice the profit of loss' with the same amount of invested funds....the Total Returns on MLPL are 140% for 3 years, 50% for one year and it is now up 30% YTD...! $tagg...!

correction...I just notice the yield on SDRL on my previous posted message, the yield is about 10% and not 19%, I don't have a clue how I put that number in (???)...the rest of the data seems to be correct...! $tagg...!

Board members...first, the current cash price of corn is $4.75 a bu. and GMO corn is about $4.45 a bu. (which ethanol is made from)...second, the current price of ethanol is $2.07 a gallon ($1.04 a gallon cheaper than wholesale price of regular gas)...third, I have a Ford150 (flex fuel) and after I drive about 5 miles (when I switch fuels to E-85) I get about the same mileage on the highway with cheaper E-85 as I do with regular gas...fourth, I am an American farmer and the drought was a lot worst than the monkey talker thinks it was...fifth, most of the monkey talkers post 'are fiction' because it cost over $4.00 a bu. to grow corn...! The current estimate is a 14 billion bu. corn crop this year not counting the carryover from last years corn crop...! The Mid East and other countries do not want to buy our corn, they want us to give it to them (for free)...! $tagg...!

bayman... this was not a good day for me either...however, I have been doing so good in the last few weeks I was surprise that we did not get a bit of a pull back sooner...I am a bit burned out on MLP's, but MLPL has been a 'sure fire winner' for me...I also think we will get some recovery in the BDC's in the future (PSEC, BDCL and etc.,...! Thanks for the feedback...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...as we are about half way through the year, I thought that this would be a good time to post my YTD Total Return leaders and losers (01/01/14 until 06/24/14) as some may find this interesting...

MLPL (yield about 10%) is up 30%...

AWLCF (yield about 19% after fees) is up 25%...

STAG (yield about 5.5%) is up 21%...

NYMT (yield about 13.3%) is up 20.8%...

SFL (yield about 8.9%) is up 18.4%...

CEFL (yield about 16% or more) is up 18.6%...

DVHL (about 14%) is up 17.9%...

TWO (yield about 10%) is up 13.8%...

AI (yield about 12.5%) is up 10%...

SDRL (yield about 19%) is up 6%...

BDCL (yield about 15.5%) is down -1.3%...

PSEC (yield about 13%) is down -1.5%...

AMHPF (no yield just guts) very small non-core position and is down -42%...

At this time I have a total of 12 core holdings and I am up 13% YTD in Total Returns in my portfolio...while its true that some of these numbers look impressive, I have not had all of them for a total of 6 months as I have done some additional buying in them...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...in Iraq the pipelines and refineries are risk (and maybe a lot more)...plus, the pipelines and the oil wells are 'at high risk' in Nigeria and the U.S. gets a lot of its very high grade, low sulfur oil from Nigeria...the fact, is that oil prices are now increasing (a lot)...SDRL will benefit from an across the board strong increase in off-shore drilling...i.e. NADL and SeaMex are are some fine examples of some companies that will need more off-shore drilling rigs in the future (to lease out)....

That said, 'look at the market action' today in SDRL, LINE/LNCO, EVEP, MLPL and etc.,...that should tell all investors where the action is headed...this is probably the right time to 'pick and choose' the right plays in the energy sector for future profits...remember, that SDRL has a lot of modern newbuild off-shore drilling rigs coming on line in the future and the industry will need all of them (especially NADL and SeaMex)....! I am not always right, but a lot of investors are still asleep at the wheel and there is still time to get on board...if I am wrong investors will probably break even, if I am right we will make a lot of future profits (and that is a pretty safe bet)...! $tagg...!

sarge...this is a very good day for the home team, lol...look at at MLPL (this is soooo good)....SDRL is still on a strong roll as is PSEC and the REITs...however, STAG is taking a 'beat down today' (I think it is time to take major profit and to let that holding go)...! $tagg...!

gambler...at this time DVHL, CEFL, PSEC, BDCL and MLPL have all been on the steady uptick...most of the REITs are doing fine today, but I think we will see 'a lot of upside' in the high yielding BDC's in the future...! However, STAG is 'starting to drag' (I should have sold it early today)...! $tagg...!
