big-g....it was the regular dividend paid on 09/30/15 and 'not a special'....however, we may receive a special dividend of some type in the future (relating to some of the dealing with FRO on new charter rates and etc.), but there is no solid news on it yet...! Stagg...!
mark...I think all of the BDC's are up very strong today (including PSEC, KCAP, HTGC, BDCL and etc.)...it may get worst, but not today...! Stagg...!
mark...I use two measures on my investments (a lot of investors use only one, which is principal)...first, I look at my revenue stream from my investments...second, I look at my principal...both are important, but I give a preference to my revenue stream...I also know that the Law of Supply and Demand is the first law of economics and the most important...
That said, BDCL, is up strong today because its high yield holdings are up today...FRO, is up strong today because it was oversold and because of the forward outlook (including a future yield) on it and UVE, is up 'very strong' today because of an increase in their insurance business (West Virginia)...! The fact is, that it is all very simple to figure out, even as the markets are doing a snap back....! Stagg...!
k-bon...I wish you well, as I may do some cherry picking, but I am to chicken to take the full plunge yet...! That said, I hear the new torpedoes will turn around and 'come back again' if they miss (???)...! Stagg...!
Board members...I know that a lot of investors here get tired of me pushing high yield stocks...however, we need to remember that as more 'Baby Boomers retire', the demand for for higher yields 'will increase'...over time, the Law of Supply and Demand never fails and the demand for higher yields will continue to increase and this 'will also increase the value' of a lot of high yield stocks...! The fact is, that most of the older investors on this message board (including myself) are always seeking out sustainable higher yields...! Stagg...!
Board members...UVE (yield about 1.76%) is 'still growing very fast', as they can now also sell insurance in West Virginia...UVE has strong color (p/e of about 10 and the ROE is outstanding at 41%) plus, a wonderful forward outlook, as long as the East Coast does not get hit with a major hurricane, UVE will continue to do fine...! Stagg...!
Board members...has anyone notice that SFL always bounces back up in share price 'a lot faster' that most other stocks (???)...! Stagg...!
sarge...there are a lot of really great bargains in the market at this time (I could not believer the pull-back today)...however,my opinion is, that the bargains will probably 'get a lot better' over the next month...! Stagg...!
william...I agree, my income stream keeps increasing from my yields and the Jim Beam Black is as good as ever...it is hard to believe that my cash revenue from my holdings keep going up while the principal keeps going down (I will be a heavy buyer in about another month)...! My current plan is to increase some of my BDC holdings (but not yet)...! Stagg...!
Board members ...I now have all my corn in and it only made 149 bu. to the acre at $3.61 a bu. (I don't have any storage), I hope my soybean yields are decent (I will know in about another week)...my net farm income will be down by at least 50% from last year (mostly because of a lot lower grain prices)...
It seems like all of the markets are a train wreak and it keeps getting worst, I am afraid this is going to be a long and Bloody October, as this is now looking like a 'pre-October sell off'...! I would like to keep the faith, but my faith is now down by about 80%...! Stagg...!
sarge...SFL is probably down today, because I posted to many messages on this board about how much profit JF was making on the FRO and FRO 2012 merger (SFL owns 27.7% of FRO and will own 7% of FRO in the future)...! Just joking lol, but then again (???)...! Stagg...!
k-bon...I agree 100% with you...i.e. JF paid about $2.85 a share for FRO 2012 and the current share price value is now about $6.88 a share (2.55 times the FRO current share price), plus the dividends that he has received...in about three years JF has made a killing on the FRO 2012 deal...! Please remember, that JF would not have merged the two shipping companies if there was not more profits to be made by doing so (now it is our turn to ride the coattails)...! Stagg...!
a-510...with SFL I don't see where it makes much difference, if they reduce a tanker or another type of ship, because SFL leases 'all type of ships' on long term charters...SFL makes their profit on the 'number of ships' that they lease out and FRO makes their profit on the dirty tanker 'spot rates' times the number of tanker ships...! More, after the merger with FRO 2012, SFL will own 'even more tankers' than they do now, because of their percentage of ownership in FRO...! Stagg...!
k-bon and board members (another update)...after 'a lot more' research, I now see that for one share of FRO 2012 stock, a shareholder will receive 2.55 shares of FRO common stock after the merger...therefore, based of that information, the share price of FRO 2012 will 'always be 2.55 times' the price of FRO common stock (which at this time would be $6.88 a share)....
That said, my math shows a current p/e of about 6 on FRO 2012 and that they could pay a dividend of about 15% based on the current earnings (if they paid all the current net income to the shareholders)...and FRO could pay a dividend of about 12% based on current net earnings (the combined new company will have strong earnings)...
My opinion is, that everything will settle down and return to normal and FRO will continue to grow and have a decent yield in the future...! I also try to base my opinions on research and data (even if its sometimes wrong) and not guess work...! Stagg...!
k-bon...I just finish reading the last 6 month earnings on FRO 2012 and 'it all looked very good' and they seem to have plenty of cash on hand, even after paying out dividends...problem is, I cannot find the current share price on FRO 2012 to do some percentage comparisons (???)...
FRO 2012 had earnings of 55 cents a share for the first 6 months in 2015 and 61 cents a share in all of 2014 (earnings have increased a lot)...if you or anybody else can find out the current share price of FRO 2012 and post it, I would really appreciated it...! Without a current share price to compare, I have wasted my time reading and studying all of the reports on earnings (I did find the original share price of $2.85 a share on FRO 2012)...! Stagg...!
pay.back...I think a lot of the problem with them is low yields, slow growth and high p/e ratios...! Investors that want higher yields, stronger growth and value can do a lot better elsewhere...! Stagg...!
a-510...I don't think the SFL or the FRO fleets are being reduced (actually they are growing larger)...SFL has a total of 5 suezmax oil tankers and 12 VLCC oil tankers left, plus a very large group of other vessels on lease and on order (total of about 72 vessels)...FRO will have about 90 vessels and 'more newbuilds on order' after the FRO 2012 merger...plus, FRO has 17 more that they commercially manage...! Stagg...!
Board members...today is another good day to 'bookmark stocks for the future', that are holding steady...while I feel that we should not buy any stocks until after October, this is a good time to look at future trends...i.e. on my watch list PSEC, KCAP and UVE have been holding steady (lately)....! It also seems that a lot of the BDC's are also getting 'back into favor' as we get closer to higher interest rates...! Stagg...!
Board members...Trump's ex-wife's were gold diggers that 'married well and divorced better'...! Stagg...!
