board members...for the record iconoclasticist posted on July 15, 2015 that LINE might be a good buy at $8.00 a share (it has lost almost 50% since then-in about 2 weeks)...more, this person also has a long history of calling other investors dirty names...! If this message board is so upsetting to some people, then those people should not read it...! Stagg...!
sarge...one quarters earnings does not 'always make a trend'...i.e. Whirlpool and a lot of other companies like them would always have a poor first quarter because they would be ramping up production early in the year (such as Ford has done), some companies pay out bonuses and match 401-K plans in the first quarter and there can be other short term factors...! I am still in the money on WMC and I plan to stick around with it for a while (they had to do something right in the first place to be able to pay such a high yield in the past)...! Stagg...!
Board members...for the record, I have never said that anybody was dumb (I may disagree, but I don't talk to people like that)...more, I have never knocked SFL as it is still my leading performing holding...and last, SDRL 'still has outstanding color' (just poor forward guidance) and most stockholders were surprise to see the dividend discontinued...! If iconoclasticist is one of the shareholders that is still holding LINE/LNCO, that would help explain their bad mood today...! Stagg...!
ed...if I remember right I sold all of my EVEP, LINE and BBEP in February and March of 2014 (for some decent profits), my big mistake was holding SDRL to long and giving back a lot of my gains on it....! We all have our demons (such as PSEC), every trade is not always a daisy...! Stagg...!
k-bon...we don't have access to the lease agreement (???)...however, 'most of the time' they get 'time travel' expenses (while moving the drilling rigs from one location to another), plus, there is a early termination fee involved (I am going from the past terminations of other drilling rigs on this)...that said, because SFL is a sister company to SDRL, JF may give SDRL a break on the early termination of a lease (it may not be fully enforced)...! Stagg...!
Board...this is a very sad day for the long term and loyal shareholders of LINE...my opinion is, that LINE did not do a very good job of showing a profit when oil and natural gas prices were a lot higher (LINE never has done a very good job of getting the product out of the ground and into the market place)...LINE did not have very good color even when oil prices were a lot higher...! Yet, there are a lot of shareholders still saying that LINE is a great buy (LINE has dropped 87.6% since I sold it)...! Stagg...!
sarge...even though revenue was down, their current business and the forward outlook 'is very strong' plus, the yield seems to be secure...it looks like most investors like the Second Quarter report...! Stagg...!
tee-leaves...the West Hercules drilling rig is contracted to SDRL with a purchase option dated in November of 2016 and the West Taurus drilling rig is also contracted to SDRL with a purchase option dated in February of 2017...! The West Polaris has already been sold at a nice profit (108 million in net cash)...! Stagg...!
gambler...I strongly agree that SFL will profit from the good fortune of FRO, we also need to remember that we probably have 'a nice special dividend' coming from SFL (soon)...however, I think that FRO will more than double in share price over the next 12 months and reinstate the dividend...! Why not own both (???)...! Stagg...!
colonel...nobody has to use ethanol blended gasoline, 'ethanol free gasoline is available' almost everywhere, it just 'cost a lot more' (read the pumps at your gas stations)...plus, the ethanol producers also pay a lot of taxes...! Stagg...!
Board members...ethanol 'is not subsidized', as a matter of fact, ethanol is taxed about 2.5 billion dollars a year at the pump and that don't include state taxes and (again) we would not have enough fuel for our vehicles without it (we have a shortage of refinery capacity in the U.S.)...! Stagg...!
guys...I added more FRO today...I said I was going to pile up some cash before a possible Bloody October, but I could not help myself, lol...the fact is, it is starting to look like we may have 'a Mini-Rally going' at this time...! SFL (yield about 10.5%) and BDCL (yield about 21.3%) are running strong, but I will not add, as I already own enough of them...! Stagg...!
Board members...FRO is still on the fast track as it is up strong again today...the short, medium and long term Technical Indicators that I use (12 different) now rate FRO a 80% buy...I have started a new position in FRO and I plan to add more to it (soon, on the next pull-back, if we get one, ???)...most of the JF stocks are on the move, including SDRL (to soon for me on SDRL)...the fact is, that most investors thought that FRO would go under and take SFL with it, and they were wrong as SFL is also still making a nice run upward...! Stagg...!
k-bon...my opinion is, that 'most all' of the BDC's 'are very over-sold'...i.e. BDCL (yield about 21.8%) is just one of many that are very over-sold at this time (and the yields keep going higher)...someday, investors will get it right, until then we will keep collecting the high yields on the BDC's...! Stagg...!
Board members...we have a nice market snap-back going today and I am glad for that...but we are still a long way from any type of a market rally...the over-all markets are always looking for reason to go up or down and lately the markets seem to find more reasons to go down...! No doom or gloom here, just some conservative thinking (I still like FRO, NMM, UVE, WMC and NRZ at this share price level)...! Stagg...!
Board members...ARLP (yield about 11.1%) has turned in 'record coal sales', while other coal companies are doing poorly...ARLP seems to benefit from a lot of long term sales contracts...buying out the remaining interest in the White Oak Coal mine did pull the numbers down a bit short term...! Discloser, I do not own ARLP (I do have some some coal leases with them) however, the company seems to have outstanding color and continues to grow and shine...my opinion is, that ARLP would not have bought out the remaining interest in the White Oak Coal mine if their forward outlook was not strong and this is probably a decent entry point; as ARLP stock has been pulled down with the rest of the coal industry (they have also 'just now' increased the cash distribution)...! Stagg...!
sarge (update)...at this time, I am down -4.5% YTD in my TD Ameritrade accounts...! Its going to take 'a lot more' than UVE to get me out of this mess, lol (however, my high yields are still a big help)...! Stagg...!
sarge...SFL is still a core holding as is NMM...I never did own GLOP or NTI (and probably never will)...however, I have started new positions in FRO and UVE (and UVE is doing fine)...! My crops look great (yield wise) but the current prices of corn and soybeans are in the dumps...! It looks like 'poor oil prices' are dragging everything else down with it...! Stagg...!
sarge...my thoughts are, that bayman may have it right (???), we should probably stop reinvesting until after a possible Bloody October (to many on-going false starts)...yes, there are a of bargains to be had at this time, but the bargains 'may be a lot better' come November...
I also notice that bayman and I have a lot of the same research programs (such as the Technical Indicators)...gambler, had it right when he said, "I like stocks that go up" (and energy is the worst place to be at this time)...! Keep the faith and keep your cash...! Stagg...!
clrodrick...when we were younger we were working for our principal and when we are retired our principal is suppose to work for us...myself, I always stay with the high yields and as long as my revenue stream (in high yields) 'keeps growing' from my investments, then I never worry about the principal...! Younger investors want to see their principal increase, I always want to see my revenue stream keep growing...i.e. its not how much the farm is worth, it how much income the farm can produce, I don't eat dirt, lol...! Stagg...!
