ed...you are correct again 'and I am wrong' (good for you), I was out of SFL during the period of time that it was a lot higher in share price...however, SFL is still my leading all time gainer and I am very well pleased with it....
I don't have a Crystal Ball to the future, but I would not be surprised to see SFL set high new share prices highs, at some point in time in the future, because SFL is growing and glowing...! I also that there is plenty of time to buy VALE...! $tagg...!
tp..now that some board members have cleared up the history on the share price of SFL, I don't know if it will every go over $30.00 a share again, but I hope it does, lol...! $tagg...!
bayman an bob...thanks, 'you guys are great', I got SFL twice on spin-offs from FRO and then sold it and my oldest son talked me into buying it back again...so the fact is, that I did not own it when it hit over $30 00 a share in 2007 and 2008...it looks to me like it went over $30.00 a share about three times in 2007 and maybe three times in 2008 (???)...the all time high was about $31.78 (05/15/08) and this data is probably very close because I got it off of the SFL website...! This is a really fine investment board with no silly garbage (which is good for everybody)...! $tagg...!
tp...SFL has 'never been' as high as $30.00 a share...the highest it has been been about $22.00 a share...I think the yahoo price chart is wrong (I just got done checking)...i.e. yahoo price chart shows a share price of $31.78 on 05/12/08 and my data shows a share price of $16.87 on the same date...! Mark, Bob, K-bon or somebody, jump in here and 'correct me if I am wrong'...! $tagg...!
Board members...because this is a SFL message board I guess it don't hurt to post some information about SFL, so here are some Total Returns on SFL that long term investors may find interesting...
SFL...is up 269.7% over the last 10 years
SFL...is up 146% over the last 5 years
SFL...is up 46.8% over the last 12 months
SFL...is up 20.2% YTD
That said, SFL is up an average of 26.9% a year over the last 10 years and that does not include compound returns if they were reinvested...however, SDRL is up 609% over the last 10 years, but it is down #$%$ over the last 12 months (it now looks like SDRL is on a rebound)...SDRL with the last 12 month pull-back is still up an average of 60% a year over the last 10 years...! These are the reasons that I like SFL and SDRL (they both have outstanding 'long term' Total Returns)...! $tagg...!
mark...most 'growing and well managed companies' will return to their previous all time highs (and more) eventually (it may take a long time)...i.e. SFL only needs about three more points to make a new all time high 'after several years'...more, global economic growth 'could improve a lot' because of the interest rate changes that are on-going at this time in Europe...
Even if, VALE does not make a new all time high in the future, it would not take much for it to increase in share price by at least 50%...that said, we do not need a strong economy to make a profit investing, I have done better investing over the last several years than ever (even while the U.S and global markets were in a slump)...! Any investor that is not showing a strong on-going profit in the markets at this time, are invested in the wrong stuff (its that simple)...! $tagg...!
k-bon and board members...JF has joined VLCCF and Frontline 2012 together and that is probably 'the main driver' for the current run upward in the share price (JF has a long history of making good investments)...that said, VLCCF now has a buy rating and also has new and outstanding color, plus the yield is predicted to double within a year...VLCCF is not in my current holdings and that is another one of my mistakes (no extra funds to invest, because I am fully invested at this time)...! I always try to 'follow the money trail' (because that is where the money is headed)...! $tagg...!
mark...I know that they say that China is in a bubble...however, my oldest son just came back from a business trip to China and he says 'there is new building going on everywhere' (he says people would not believe it)...my sons and their associates have developed a new product that will end up in 'most of the homes' around the world (no joke, and more on this very soon)...! $tagg...!
update...here are some I forgot, so here are more Total Returns :
GLNG...is up 34.9% YTD,
NADL..is up 31.6% YTD
KOG...is up 50.1% in the last 12 months
SFL...is up 20.2% YTD
All of these stocks have been talked about on this message board...SDRL (yield about 10%) did not make the 'hot list', but it is on the rebound...! $tagg...!
For the record....here are some YTD Total Returns (with yields added back) :
VLCCF ...is up 79.2%
STAG...is up 26.2%
MLPL...is up 24.2%
NYMT...is up 18.9%
AWLCF...is up 16.4%
CEFL...is up 16.4%
DVHL...is up 14.2%
NMM...is up 5.7%
These are Total Returns from 01/01/14 until 06/05/14 (source, is 'buyupside')...! Just something to think about...! $tagg...!
sarge..."PSEC is showing love' (I really like that, very cool)...the fact is, PSEC (yield about 13.8%) will probably show 'a lot more love' after we get through June... I will have more dividends soon and plan to add more PSEC near 07/01/14 (BDCL is also doing a nice snap-back today)...! $tagg...!
Board members... I know that I sound like a broken record...but VLCCF (yield about 6%) and AWLCF (yield about 21% after fees) are 'still on the fast track' and have not slowed down yet...I have about 80 different stocks on my watch list and it is easy to pick some on-going winners and losers...
That said, I am now up over 10% YTD in Total Returns and this market is acting like it still has legs...the current markets are running faster than the economy and that is a bit scary...however, they say the markets move ahead of the economy by about six months and we will see (???)...! $tagg...!
sarge...I don't know if you are to early or not....however, I follow VALE (yield about 6.2%) and i feel it is a bargain 'here and now'...in my opinion, Vale is over sold and will rally very strong at some point in the future...Vale was about $35.00 a share back in 2011 and should return to that share price when their business picks up again...
That said, I am not holding Vale but I still feel this is a good entry point as it will probably not go any lower in share price...myself, I am doing so good in the markets at this time that i am afraid to change anything (it will not last, but it is very sweet now)...! $tagg...!
Board members...bob made a good point, what does JF's companies have going on that we do not know about yet (???)...! There is more good news coming (there always is)...! $tagg...!
Board members...I have been long on SFL and SDRL for some time because most of JF's companies have a strong business model, plus they have a 'nice yield and good growth'...that said, the main driver today is probably 'lower interest rates in Europe', SFL and SDRL are high leverage companies and will benefit from low interest rates and easy borrowed funds...
I have been pumping SFL and SDRL for a while (and this time I was right) and I feel that both of them will continue to shine bright in the future...my portfolio is hitting new highs almost everyday and I am now up over 10% YTD in Total Returns...i.e. STAG (yield about 5.5%) is up almost 2.5% at this time today and BDCL is doing a strong snap-back....! Sometimes, it pays to be a loyal investor...! Good luck to all and enjoy the ride...! $tagg...!
guru...you are to good of an investor to jinx anything...that said, I am now getting very worried as I am hitting new all time highs everyday and it is looking to easy (and it is never easy)...high yield investing is not suppose to reap strong capital gains and I hitting both (high yields and strong capital gains)...at this time, every stock I have except PSEC is running hot...
That said, I predicted that corn prices would be about $6.00 a bu. by August...and now it looks like I am 'very wrong' as corn prices keep falling...my current corn crop looks great but I am a bit concerned about 'to much
rain' and there is another big rain storm coming (it is on radar now)...I feel there may 'another big storm coming' that is not on the financial radar (???)...! $tagg...!
k-bon...as you know I am a high yield investor...however, VLCCF (yield about 6%) is still on the fast track and there 'must be a good reason' for that....I am not knocking NAT, but if we run a compare chart VLCCF is very hot and 'it is staying hot'...when a lot of funds keep pouring into a stock over a on-going period of time, there must be a good reason for it (???)...! I would take a position in VLCCF if I knew which of my current holdings to sell to do it (???)...! $tagg...!
mark...as I understand it' the EBC has put a negative rate on funds that European banks are holding in reserve and the reason is to force banks to loan out more money...'that is very scary', when banks have to be forced to loan out money when that is their main business...the banks in Europe must really be afraid of the future default of bank loans (???)...! $tagg...!
rogers...for the record, I got my first shares of SFL (twice) when they were in a spin-off from FRO...more, 'liability of assets' is a lot different than 'liability of action'...! $tagg...!
bob...that not fair, how big is a grain of Sea Salt (???), lol, that very good (good for you)...that said, sometimes I feel that I may be one of the few that every looks at 'all the color' (key statistics) of a company...! No rose colored glasses here, but I am hitting new all time highs again today (MLPL and SFL are still doing fine)....! $tagg...!
