    IS THIS A TURNING POINT...???

update...I don't know if this is a turning point, but the fact is that the markets 'are really trying to go higher.'..I sure hope this is the beginning of something positive...the fact is, that I added more high yield stocks on the market pull-backs and 'it is paying off' big at this time (the more the markets fall, the greater the future snap-backs are)...! Sometimes it pays to keep the faith...! $tagg...!

bob...it looks like you and k-bon may have 'got it right' on NMM...thanks, to you guys for all the information, as I now plan to build it into a core holding...! $tagg...!

sarge...I made a profit on SDRL as I had owned it for several years and collected a lot of dividends (I could have made more if I had sold it sooner)...however, I did not lose the yields on SDRL as I sold it and moves those funds into other high yield holdings...an investor only loses the dividends on those funds if they are still holding SDRL..! Myself, I bought some NMM today and I plan to add more...! $tagg...!

k-bon...I agree as I just finished reading up on it...NMM (yield now about 17.3%) has good color and fine forward outlook...I am starting a position in it...! $tagg..!

  • Board members...I have a lot of green today and most of my holding are on the up-swing (ADM, SFL, PSEC, WMC, F, AI, and etc.)...a lot of people and companies will benefit from lower fuel prices as gasoline has fallen enough to make a huge difference, i.e. Illinois basin crude is now $49.00 a barrel, effective 12/16/14...! I don't know if this is a turning point yet...but we are probably getting very close...! $tagg...!

sarge...and very Happy Holiday to you...I think we are getting close to 'a turning point' in the current markets as I have a lot of green today and more high yields on the way...SDRL is doing good today, but I will not buy it back until they start paying a dividend again...ADM, PSEC, SFL and WMC are all doing fine...I still like Ford (F) going forward as they are now ramping up production of the new F-150 and the global Mustang...I rate F as buy here and now for some future capital gains...! Keep the faith as we may be near a turning point....! $tagg....!

sarge...this current markets seems to have 'no sacred cows'...however, it seems the best investors at this time are the ones that are losing the least in YTD Total Returns...if we get a Santa Clause rally it will be near the end of the year (as always) and it will 'not be enough' to over come our current loses (but it may help some)...

That said, younger investors are trying to build principal and a lot of older investors are seeking out higher yields to supplement their retirement...why would investors in their 70's try to build a lot more principal when they may not live long enough to enjoy it (???)...

Moving forward, we may still get a Rally near the end of the year and 'January may give us a clue' to the forward direction of the markets...tip; do not let investors that have made a lot of bad investments change your future outlook in the markets...! All my life 'some investors' have lost a lot of money in the markets, yet the markets 'always keep moving up higher again' at some point in the future...! $tagg...!

Board members...again, I posted the results of a survey by CNBC on a possibly Santa Clause Rally, I have CNBC on in my office all day long (and sometimes I get some good information on it)....! More, we cannot get breaking news if we do not watch for it...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...it looks like ADM is going to be selling less cocoa and more corn products in the future...this sell to Olam can deduce about 25% of their outstanding debt if they so choose (ADM's enterprise value is now about 35 billion dollars)...! $tagg...!

sarge...I gave you a thumbs up because I like most of your posted message (as it has merit)...however, it is still 'to soon to know' if the new F-150 is not selling as there are only about 5,000 in the market place...we probably have not seen 'the final price' on a lot of the new Ford vehicles yet (they always hit the market high priced and go on sale later on)...

That said, I am glad I sold out of SDRL as it is down -23% since I sold it and NADL is down -39.8% since I sold it...LINE is down -73% since I sold it and NEWM is up 88% since I sold it (I should have kept NEWM)...! I may add more Ford (F) as the color does not look that bad to me...! $tagg...!

K-bon...I have never loss any money on a spin-off yet and PSEC is going to have some pure play spin-offs, plus they have not stopped paying out the dividend (Yet)...! More, I wish I had never sold my NEWM that I got on a spin-off as it is now up 88% since I sold it (but I still made a nice profit anyway, I could have made a lot more)...! $tagg...!

villcen...the future does not look that bright for most oil related holdings at this time...I suggest you play it safe and wait for a steady upturn in the oil sector...there are a lot of other high value stocks available at this time that also have nice yields...i.e. PSEC and SFL are two that are probably safe at this price level...! $tagg...!

ed...it looks to me like SFL could rally some more on higher tanker rates...FRO has been in a rally, however, because SFL cut them some slack in the past on lease rates, SFL could get the major share of some the FRO future profits...! Just my opinion, as I now feel future profit sharing and revenue stream from FRO could be a lot stronger...! $tagg...!

    SANTA CLAUSE RALLY...!

mark...I am a high yield investor, but I also have ADM and F (but they are not core holdings, yet)...I am also hoping January will give us 'some future direction' in the markets going forward...

I was going to add more BDCL (yield about 19.6%) , but now I am looking at some shipping stocks as they seem to be on a stronger rebound...NAO (yield about 16%) has very good color (no debt) and has a decent yield...! $tagg...!

  • Board members...a lot of the oil tankers are having a current surge in share prices...first, tanker rates are on a strong increase because it appears that China is building up its oil reserves on cheaper oil prices...second, I read that for every $10.00 drop in oil prices, large tankers save about $2,400.00 a day in fuel prices (shipping days X saving in fuel X the number of ships can add up to big numbers)...

My opinion, it may be time to take another hard look at some of the shipping sectors...higher day rates and lower fuel prices should mean a lot more future profits for some shipping companies as some are still paying out nice yields...more, there is a good 'letter to the shareholders' on both the NAT (yield about 6%) and NAO (yield about 16%) websites that a lot of investors should find interesting...! $tagg...!

k-bon...I like your high yield holdings...some of my current high yield portfolio leaders 'in Total Returns by order' are: NYMT, AI, SFL and WMC...this will be the first year since 2008 that I have loss money as I am now down about -8% YTD in Total Returns...! $tagg...!
