The fact alone they are even having this meeting indicates a strong willingness to shift positions with a favorable regulatory policy position. They will make a clear position statement favorably for obesity as a disease.....why you ask? It's a global health issue, and the FDA considers their role for public health as a primary leader in the peer group of world governments health agencies.
Your conspiracy theory, and a foolish self decided bashing FUD agenda as well. 11 thumbs down seems to agree with me.
1.1 million taxis in China......50% run on Natural Gas. The pollution is out of control in many of their cities. Nat gas fueling stations by the thousands in China, I think Florida may have three in total for the public use. Demand meets the economy of scale to build and produce fueling stations. At the lower Nat Gas prices here in the USA is tough economics for return on investment. NatGas fueling pods are being built as I post this message to support the major trucking routes, and truck stops are the target audience. Large trucking vehicles benefit the most as they have room to accommodate LNG tanks (Liquid Nat Gas) driving 2/3rds further on the same tank size. Every major truck engine developer is making NatGas truck engines. Private central location NatGas fueling stations number by the 1000's for UPS, Wal Mart trucks, city buses, trash trucks, taxi cabs, airport ground support vehicles. Few people know that synthetic fuel can be made from coal to run airplanes, trains, trucks, and cars....see Linc Energy Coal Gasification Process. Coal is still the most available energy resource in the world, and the cheapest by far other than Hydro electric power. Things are changing.
Duke Medical Ctr. has a first class weight loss program. People fly in to stay there over several weeks of therapy. Morbid obese issues are treated at Duke. Orlando....the home base for the "Obesity Society" hosting the current conference. A great support effort from these two study areas selected. UAB University of Alabama is associated with UAB Medical Ctr. This diverse set of regions across the U.S. certainly covers any and all eating habits different regions experience, as well as a diverse population of patients.
Congrats Johndaly123.....paid off mine on Nov. 1st. A party with friends, and a bon-fire by a lake, burn that mortgage, page by Wells Fargo page. It's hard to wipe the smile off your face hey!
Dave is right abut the debt dealings. I lost $1/4 million in a business deal 15 years ago. My fortunate move it was a Corporation with private stock ownership, the corporation declared bankruptcy not me personally. None the less, a few vendors got screwed. Four years in trial suing the bank for a non-disclosed mistake they made at the closing table......it seems there was a lien they knew about but submitted a no lien affidavit at closing. Paying the lien would have bankrupted the company, and I would never have closed the deal with the lien outstanding. Lawyers screw up, banks screw up, title company's screw up......and I got screwed as well.
I won finally in the Florida court of appeals. Made my mind up then to recover that 1/4 million, and be debt free when I retired. Paid off the mortgage last month which was almost paid but I had to refinance to pay my legal fee's of $85K back 11 years ago. Now I am debt free......I followed Dave's advice then, and still do today....read his book! My motto, "Self Security - Not Social Security". Thanks to the market crash, and buying $10,000 of Ford Motor (F) at $1.52 in 2009, I got back on my feet. A HERO of inspiration to me.
Manipulation ahead of the street...they are always one step (or two) ahead of the trade.
Congrats on the marriage.....dress in black, it makes you look thinner. Just teasing, but in today's world one might ask....."Is the marriage to a guy, or gal?"
Biggest block I saw was 42,455 shares @ $5.60 early in the first few minutes.
Perhaps he cannot sit down to pen a new SA report with a Hockey Stick lodged in his #$%$......very uncomfortable.
That said, they are still holding over 1 million shares...maybe they are somewhat long now....but watch your back Jack.
Per Morningstar reporting 9/30/13.....Deerfield sold 52.4% of their ARNA position, 1,352,009 shares. I always felt they were not in for the long side, and now I think I know who was leading to the short side over the years.
Arena Pharma has been in bed with Deerfield for financing long ago. I appreciate their help for financing, but they are hard nose money hoe's and will make a buck short, long, or sideway's, I think they had a knife in our back since we paid off their debt......never trust the street.
$4.94 now past breakeven.......about a third of the shares below $2.50, 1st in 1st Out. Finished buying, portfolio is out of balance with ARNA. When 2/3rd's get's me $100k gain I will sell, keeping 1/3rd.
On a world basis, by 2050 they expect the population of obese people on a global scale can in fact place a huge burden on world food demand creating a shortage. Obese people consume twice the food of normal diet requirements in many cases. I read chocolate was considered #1 safe food investment. They just won't give it up, everyone likes it. Cocoa commodities ......I may look into those. Nestle seems to be doing very well.
